Searching for bars in Southern California
Last night, my friend and I was chillin' in Denny's after another disastrous night out on the town.
Yes, believe it our not, Los Angeles ain't all that when it comes to the nightlife. WeHo is too much to deal with and some bear clubs like Faultline are not cute at times. So after being bored and smothered in smoke, we traveled to Long Beach only to be completely disappointed again.
They have more social bars, but nobody was there. In the Crest, Pistons and some other place I can't remember the name... nobody was out. There were almost 20 folks in each bar, but seriously, nobody was shaking up and putting it out.
What's really going on in Cali? In NYC, I always had a good time going out. In Cali, not so much. My poor friend was also shocked. He just moved here from Ohio, so anything is an improvement.
After ranting about this over our chicken strips and fattening shakes, we realized we won't give up. Somewhere, there's a place for us. Where? I don't know, but there has to be a bar that has fun people, good music and no smoking.
The smoke gets in my hair and ruins the vanilla-cinnamon scented vibe I have all over me.
We will continue the bar journey next week, hopefully with better luck.

I wonder what time you were at these places...usually the crowds start showing up late, around 11 (about the time I ready to leave). Don't give up. And um...did you mean the Crest? Love that tacky dive.
Are people still allowed to smoke in bars in CA? It is SO nice not having to deal with the smell of smoke when you go out in NYC.
Keep trying - you'll find someplace you like...
XOXOXOXO
Faultline has an open ceiling in one part of the bar, so folks smoke in there. However, the ceiling is high so the smoke dominates the room
Believe it or not Providence has a nice little scene. And guess what, smoking was banned in public places a few years back.
Maybe you're in the wrong place.
Keep searching - it's Cali baby!
