We have the votes to pass ENDA in the House and we hope to bring it before the committee I serve on – the Education Labor Committee – within the month – by the end of April. And then, once it passes the committee, it shouldn’t take more than a couple of weeks – a week or two – to schedule it for the floor. It’s just a scheduling matter. We think we would have passed it by now if it wasn’t for healthcare taking up much of the workload of our committee.
I don’t know about the Senate – but in the House, we expect to pass out substantially. It has substantial support. The Senate requires 60 votes so it’s a matter of getting some Republican moderates to support it.
The music video is called "Window Seat" and was recorded in one take in Dealey Plaza on a warm Saturday afternoon in March 2010.Here's the video
It shows Erykah Badu, Dallas native and R&B star, doing a slow motion striptease down Elm Street on her way to the spot where JFK was assassinated.
Commercial filming shoots require a permit from the city of Dallas, but here, no such permit was sought or granted.
“She said she was frankly kind of surprised nobody made a formal complaint at the time, though on her Twitter account she says people were yelling at her while they were filming" said Richard Ray, a FOX reporter who spoke with Badu.
Lawmakers in Oklahoma thought they’d figured out a way to exempt the state from enforcing the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Act, which added protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity to the federal hate crimes act. But thanks to “a legislative error,” the Oklahoma senate has instead passed a bill that sidesteps protections based on race and religion.

I'm having so much fun creating my own characters and enjoying the control this gives you over the comic-books and the movies that handling an established franchise eems odd to me now. It's tempting, SO tempting for a guy who's been a fanboy as long as he can remember, but I need to stick to my guns. No, it was a wise choice. We love your work and look forward for your next creations.
I want to create the NEXT generation of superheroes over the next few years and going back would, I think, be a mistake.
Vaughn is being offered everything you can imagine too in the wake of Kick-Ass, but we both agreed that keeping complete control is what made Kick-Ass such an amazing experience for both of us. Six big producers have now come forward for Nemesis (I've always said I'm holding off until April 17th before I let CAA take this out) and Vaughn and I already have our next movie planned out, based on a book I'm doing with Leinil Francis Yu in September.
But it's still the friggin' X-Men, guys. Have I gone mad? Was it nuts to turn this down?
"The Walking Dead" will become AMC's fourth original series with a six-episode order. "Dead," based on Robert Kirkman's popular graphic novels, has been on the fact track ever since AMC acquired the rights to the books in August after a bidding war.
The project, written and directed by Frank Darabont, was ordered to pilot in January, followed by the early series pickup with the pilot still in the casting stages. "Dead" will begin production in June in Atlanta. The series is set to premiere in October 2010 during AMC's Fearfest, the network's annual marathon of thriller and horror films.
"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."
While Steele has not purchased a plane, he continues to charter them. According to federal disclosure records, the RNC spent $17,514 on private aircraft in the month of February alone (as well as $12,691 on limousines during the same period). There are no readily identifiable private plane expenses for Democratic National Committee chairman Tim Kaine in the DNC’s last three months of filings.
The RNC explains that Steele charters jets only when commercial service is unavailable, or when his tight schedule requires it. “Anytime the chairman has taken any private travel has been a either to a route that doesn’t exist or because of connections and multiple travel to where he just wasn’t able to do so,” Heye said. Yet Steele’s office repeatedly refused to explain in specific terms the circumstances of the February charter flights.
Once on the ground, FEC filings suggest, Steele travels in style. A February RNC trip to California, for example, included a $9,099 stop at the Beverly Hills Hotel, $6,596 dropped at the nearby Four Seasons, and $1,620.71 spent [update: the amount is actually $1,946.25] at Voyeur West Hollywood, a bondage-themed nightclub featuring topless women dancers imitating lesbian sex.
RNC trips to other cities produced bills from a long list of chic and costly hotels such as the Venetian and the M Resort in Las Vegas, and the W (for a total of $19,443) in Washington. A midwinter trip to Hawaii cost the RNC $43,828, not including airfare.
Strip clubs, Vegas, Lesbian Sex... Those are values I can believe in.
The law would apply to companies that already offer health coverage to domestic partners and their children. Currently, more than half of Fortune 500 companies cover domestic partners under their health plans. This is good. Well done, Sen. Boxer. I hope this passes.Boxer said, “This is a question of fairness: Every family deserves access to health insurance, especially in this tough economy. This bill ensures that domestic partners and their families will have equal access to health coverage after a job loss.”
I am fascinated with this news!
This could be the best casting ever. With "Maleficent," the postmodern take on "Sleeping Beauty," gaining momentum at Disney, there's also a star who could be surging with it: Angelina Jolie.
Earlier this week, the news broke that Disney had hired its longtime collaborator Linda Woolverton ("Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King") to work on the screenplay for the live-action take on the 50-year-old hit. (Maleficent is the evil fairy godmother in the Disney film; this story would be told, "Wicked"-like, from her perspective.)
Both Tim Burton and Angelina Jolie had last spring been rumored to join the project, which Disney has been kicking around for a while as a way to mine its library, among other things. Burton's involvement remains unclear as he contemplates several projects. But sources say that, as of the last few weeks, Jolie is keen on the film and would like to sign on to play the titular villain.
It's sad, because these folks are victims, but it doesn't excuse their foolishness. If the GOP and Sarah Palin really cared, they would try to get them jobs and their lives back on track. The fact that many of them joined the Tea Party after losing their jobs raises questions of whether the movement can survive an improvement in the economy, with people trading protest signs for paychecks.
But for now, some are even putting their savings into work that they argue is more important than a job — planning candidate forums and get-out-the-vote operations, researching arguments about the constitutional limits on Congress and using Facebook to attract recruits.
Jeff McQueen, 50, began organizing Tea Party groups in Michigan and Ohio after losing his job in auto parts sales.
“Being unemployed and having some time, I realized I just couldn’t sit on the couch anymore,” he said. “I had the time to get involved.” He blames the government for his unemployment. “Government is absolutely responsible, not because of what they did recently with the car companies, but what they’ve done since the 1980s,” he said. “The government has allowed free trade and never set up any rules.”
“The United States Senate has the responsibility to approve or disprove my nominees. But if, in the interest of scoring political points, Republicans in the Senate refuse to exercise that responsibility, I must act in the interest of the American people and exercise my authority to fill these positions on an interim basis.”
While many in Hollywood are having trouble finding work these days, Bryan Singer’s problem is there is only one of him to go around and everybody wants him. So Singer and 20th Century Fox have formalized his move from director to producer on X-Men: First Class. That is the bad news for X-Men die-hards who love the first two films Singer directed. Here's the good part: he is leaving because Fox liked the script that Jamie Moss wrote from Singer's treatment so much that the studio wants the film right away, envisioning it as the first leg of a trilogy. The hope is to have it ready for 2011 release.Singer will join Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg as producers. He's not available because Warner Bros and Legendary are locked into a summer production start on Jack the Giant Killer. They’ll begin casting shortly. It is a big CG project, and they are likely to either shoot 3D or convert it later.
NOOOOOOOOO! Stop with the 3D, it's not the 80's anymore!
Yes, it is wrong to post the personal addresses of Members of Congress (or in this case, mistakenly the address of a brother of a Congressman) on the internet to encourage harassment.
But how much worse it is to have thousands of ordinary citizens' home addresses posted on the internet with virtual instructions to go and harass them for donating for Prop 8? To this day these maps remain. One woman I know in her sixties reports she is afraid to walk out her front door after receiving a flood of threatening mail directed to her home. Democracy is not supposed to work like that.
We have sympathy for what they are going through, but these politicians should come forward to denounce the continued intimidation and harassment of ordinary citizens for participating in the basics of democracy--and demand those eight maps be taken down.
Brian is comparing the Prop 8 attacks to the Health Care attacks... I can see his where he's trying to go. What do you think?
Vote for Orly Taitz for Secretary of State of California in June 8 Repub. Primary
Dr. Orly Taitz, ESQ is well known around the country as a Constitutional attorney who pursued the cases of massive elections fraud during 2008 Presidential elections, illegitimacy of upcoming Health Bill, and is representing over 200 high ranked members of the military, State Representatives from all over the country and former candidates on the ballot, including Dr. Alan Keyes, former Ambassador to the UN. In 2010 Republican primary Dr. Taitz is facing a former football player Damon Dunn, who has zero background in elections law or elections, as he never even voted until 2009. Mr. Dunn was a reg! istered Democrat in Florida since 1999 until he registered as a Republican in CA less then a year ago and only 6 months before his official announcement to runs as a Republican for the position of the Secretary of State. That is in violation of CA statute §8001(a)(2), which requires one not to be affiliated with another party for at least 12 months before the announcement of his candidacy. Additionally, Mr. Dunn has violated CEC statutes §18203 and §18500, and committed voter fraud by not disclosing on his voter registration card in CA the fact that he was a registered Democrat in FL.
Dr. Taitz has two doctor’s degrees. She is a doctor of Jurisprudence and a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Taitz is the President of Defend Our Freedoms Foundation and Editor of the OrlyTaitzEsq.com blog, where she writes prolifically on the issues of Constitutional law, politics, economy, constitutional education of our youth. Dr. Taitz is married to her husband of 23 years and a mother to 3 sons, ages 20, 18 and 16. Her oldest son is graduating from an Ivy league university pre-med program next year, her younger sons are in the last years of High School.
Dr. Taitz! was born and raised in the Communist Soviet Union and knows first hand the bleakness of the totalitarian regime and depravation of the Constitutional rights. As Mr. Obama became US president, Dr. Taitz got deeply concerns by the fact that he refused to present any of his original vital records and by the fact that the issue of Mr. Obama’s dual citizenship and split allegiance was not heard in any court of law yet. Dr. Taitz has embarked on a pro bono mission to bring this issue to light and have it heard on the merits.

The new guidelines go into effect immediately and will apply to cases already open. They are considered a stopgap measure until Congress decides whether to go along with President Barak Obama's call for a repeal of the ''don't ask, don't tell'' law.
''I believe these changes represent an important improvement in the way the current law is put into practice, above all by providing a greater measure of common sense and common decency for handling what are complex and difficult issues for all involved,'' Gates told a Pentagon news conference.
The changes raise the level of officer authorized to initiate a fact-finding inquiry into a case, the level of officer who can conduct an inquiry and of the one that can authorize a dismissal.
To discourage the use of overheard statements or hearsay, from now on any evidence given in third-party outings must be given under oath, Gates said. Cases of third-party outings also have included instances in which male troops have turned in women who rejected their romantic advances or jilted partners in relationship have turned in a former lover.
Some kinds of confidential information also will no longer be allowed, including statements gays make to their lawyers, clergy, psychotherapists or medical professionals in the pursuit of health care.
The individual service branches will have 30 days to change their regulations to conform to the new rules.
Nicknamed "the Wall", she is a former congressional aide and government agent often placed in charge of the Suicide Squad, a semi-secret government-run group of former supervillains working in return for amnesty. She also was the former leader (code rank: White Queen) of the covert-ops organization, Checkmate. She later served as Secretary of Metahuman Affairs under President Lex Luthor, before being arrested in the wake of Luthor's public fall from grace. Waller was recently reassigned to the leadership of Checkmate as White Queen, but has been forced to resign because of her involvement in Operation Salvation Run.
I can't wait to see this character on the big screen!
Dear Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- With health care legislation passing, now is the time to institute workplace protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people by passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. Rep. Tammy Baldwin says she believes that we have the votes to pass ENDA, and Rep. George Miller has said the bill is ready to come out of committee now that the health care bill has passed. As Speaker of the House of Representatives, we call on you to act boldly and decisively and bring ENDA to the floor for a vote now.
"We'll aim for these races and many others," she wrote on her Facebook page. "This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington. Please go to sarahpac.com and join me in the fight."
Bennett is emerging as the most stalwart congressional opponent to same-sex marriage in the District. Earlier this month, he sought to attach a similar amendment to a Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization bill. But that amendment was ruled out of order.Bob, you are a solid asshole! This is not your state or concern, you truly suck!
Bennett's latest attempt to force a referendum on the city's same-sex marriage law, which went into effect March. 3, has the support of GOP Sens. Roger Wicker (Miss), Pat Roberts (Kansas), Orrin Hatch (Utah), James M. Inhofe (Ok), and John Cornyn (Texas), according to the DCist blog.
But Senate Democrats, who are trying to keep all GOP amendments off the reconciliation bill, are widely expected to kill Bennett's amendment, which was first reported by the New York Times. Still, Bennett's determination to force a public vote on same-sex marriage in the District has caught the attention of District leaders.
DC Agenda: What’s HRC’s view on how, or whether, non-violent civil disobedience action — as Dan Choi and Robin McGehee of the new national group GetEqual.org are now calling for — fits into the overall efforts to advance LGBT rights that HRC is working for?
Solmonese: The beauty of our movement is that we have a dedicated community that is constantly searching for new and innovative ways to effect change in Washington and at home. Whether it be the actions last week or meeting with a senator in a district office, these are ways that our community continues to advocate for LGBT equality. Activism by Dan Choi and others has one common intent in mind that we also share: to advance equality in the fastest way possible. As we said last week, this is the nature of social change and everyone has a role to play.
DC Agenda: Dan Choi and others have suggested that mainstream LGBT groups like HRC are too accommodating to the White House and congressional Democratic leaders on issues like ENDA and DADT. What is HRC’s current count of U.S. senators on an up or down vote on ENDA right now? Can you release a list of which of the 17 Democratic senators who are not ENDA co-sponsors will vote for or against ENDA?
Solmonese: There has been understandable frustration in the community at the pace of progress at advancing some of the pieces of key legislation that are important to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. We continue to press the president and Congress to live up to the promises they made to advance real, substantive equality for LGBT Americans. It is critical that everyone in the LGBT community and our allies engage in this effort.

For me the most distressing thing—for me personally—about Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna joining with the attorneys general of states like Virginia (!) and Mississippi (!) in suing to block health care reform is this: Rob McKenna doesn't make a big deal about it, but he is the only prominent Republican LGBT elected official in the country.
And yet Rob is attempting to ingratiate himself with openly homophobic teabaggers and Washington state Republican primary voters by blocking the implementation of a health care reform law that, according to critics on the right, will one day pay for "gruesome 'sex change' operations"—indeed some transsexuals are already getting government-funded sex-change operations. It's staggering that Rob McKenna, a female-to-male transsexual, is making it harder for other FTMs (and MTFs) to access the life savng sex-reassignment surgery that allowed Rob to become the man he is today.
Rob had the resources to finance his own sex-reassigment surgery—presumably—but that doesn't excuse Rob's cruel disregard for his low-income transgendered brothers and sisters or his making common cause with anti-trans bigots in states like Virginia and Mississippi. For shame, Rob.
No sweetie, shame on you for this foolishness... Rob is not trans.
Well, folks saw this post and let Dan have it. But what made it worst, was his response:
I'm getting some very angry emails about this post. What can I say? I'm so sorry. I wrote the post in a hurry but that's really no excuse.
Okay, so your first reaction is to post an anti-trans slur? Now, we all have bad days, but this unacceptable, Dan!
I will post more on this very soon.MULTIMEDIA MAVEN B. SCOTT TO SPEAK AT MOREHOUSE’S FIRST-EVER GAY PRIDE WEEK
