NOM celebrates Neil Gorsuch Confirmation

Well, the GOP confirmed Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court, using dirty and slimy tactics. Neil isn't the ideal person for the job, however NOM thinks he is.

Here's the celebratory letter about him:

Marriage Supporter — I've got some great news -- Neil Gorsuch has just been confirmed by the Senate as the newest member of the US Supreme Court!

We did it! Thanks to you and so many NOM members and conservative activists across the country, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was able to muster the votes to change Senate rules to allow the Gorsuch confirmation to move forward, and Justice Gorsuch won a bipartisan majority. He now will join the Supreme Court as a worthy successor to the late, great Antonin Scalia.

This development is a huge boost for NOM and for the prospects of restoring true marriage to our nation's laws by reversing the illegitimate, anti-constitutional Obergefell ruling of 2015 redefining marriage. Justice Gorsuch shares Justice Scalia's judicial philosophy and we are confident he will rule to overturn the illegitimate marriage decision.

That means we are likely only one vote short of reinstating marriage in our nation, with rumors flying that another Court vacancy could occur soon with the retirement of one of the justices who voted to redefine marriage!

I am so grateful to the nearly 10,000 NOM members who grabbed an oar and actively worked with us to support Justice Gorsuch's confirmation. Please join me in praying for him, and for all the judges on the Supreme Court, that they be given wisdom and discernment to rule on cases based on the law and the constitution as it exists, not based on their own personal opinion of what the law and constitution should be.

This great victory shows what we can accomplish together. I look forward to many more victories this year, and in years to come!

Faithfully,

Brian Brown

NOM wants to work with Trump

NOM's Brian Brown has come out of hiding since Trump has won.

On their site, he post:
Donald Trump has won a historic election, an unprecedented victory that has turned the establishment upside down. We heartily congratulate him and his team on their incredible win. President-elect Trump will now turn his attention to governing, and NOM is committed to working with him. We are confident that our voice and our views will be important in a Trump administration.

Here is our plan:

We will work with President Trump to nominate conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, individuals who will adhere to the words and meaning of the constitution. Such justices will inevitably reverse the anti-constitutional ruling of the Supreme Court imposing same-sex ‘marriage’ on the nation in the Obergefell decision, because that decision lacked any basis in the constitution.

We will work with President Trump to rescind the illegal, over-reaching executive orders and directives issued by President Obama, including his dangerous “gender identity” directives, attempting to redefine gender just as he sought to redefine marriage.

We will work with President Trump to reverse policies of the Obama administration that seek to coerce other countries into accepting same-sex ‘marriage’ as a condition of receiving US assistance and aid. It is fundamentally wrong for a president to become a lobbyist for the LGBT agenda, and we are confident that will end in the Trump administration.

We will work with President Trump and Congress to pass the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA), which Mr. Trump supports. FADA is critical legislation to protect people who believe in marriage from being targeted by the government for persecution.

This is a bright and exciting time for NOM, and we are committed to taking full advantage of the opportunity we have. Our voice and our views matter to the incoming administration, and that means your voice and views matter.

To make sure that we can influence the policy debates that are coming, we need to step-up our communications. The first step is to grow our presence on social media. Please act today to follow NOM and me on Twitter, and to like us on Facebook.

It only takes a few seconds to follow us on Twitter and to like us on Facebook, but doing so will help us increase our ability to educate and mobilize our supporters.

We’re excited about the future, and we are looking forward to work with the Trump administration to restore marriage, uphold gender, protect religious liberty and promote families.

NOM is Short on Cash

The hate mega group NOM is really scraping at the bottom of the bowl. They are no longer making money and the desperate emails are coming in

Dear vik,

I'm writing to ask you for your immediate help with a developing problem. As we approach the middle of the month, NOM is more than $10,000 short of meeting our fundraising needs for May, and that does not include the increased expenditures to carry out the enormously successful Fax for FADA and Say No to Target programs we recently launched.

As a result we have a big hole in our budget that we must immediately address, or risk imperiling critical programs that are making a difference in promoting the truth of marriage and protecting the rights of individuals like you and me to live out our beliefs about marriage without fear of being punished by the government.

That's why I am asking you to make an immediate financial contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or even $500 or more to help us meet this current need. If you are able to make a more generous contribution, I ask you to prayerfully consider doing so. Whatever you can afford — whether it be $10 or $1,000 or more — please act today.

If we are not able to raise the funds to erase this budget deficit, we will have little choice but to cut back on programs, which is something I definitely do not want to do.

As you know, we are in a critical period that requires our full efforts to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities. The American people have responded generously to our Fax for FADA campaign, and we've generated over 100,000 faxes to members of Congress demanding that they bring the First Amendment Defense Act to a vote. Our work is making a difference and we expect this legislation to be heard by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee soon.

So good, so good.

NOM's Broke

NOM's broke... Yes, these Hate-filled folks are out of money and begging for help.

Read their latest email

Dear vik,

I'm writing to ask for your immediate help with an urgent problem — we have been so successful in mobilizing Americans to stand up for marriage and protect the religious liberty rights of Americans who believe as you and I do that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and now we are dangerously short of funds. Unless we can raise additional resources immediately, we will not be able to continue our advocacy in support of the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA), critical legislation to prevent the Obama administration and federal government from targeting pastors, churches, religious groups and small businesses owned by people of faith.

Here's the situation: FADA is must-pass legislation, but Congress has not scheduled it for a vote. We launched our Fax For Fada campaign to mobilize Americans and make sure that the House Republican leadership and members of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee, chaired by Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, heard from grassroots supporters that they want this legislation passed. And boy, did the grassroots respond! Our team is in the process of delivering over 100,000 faxes to the Republican leadership and OGR members!

You might think that being too successful is a good problem to have, but it creates an immediate and serious shortfall in our budget. The cost of sending over 100,000 faxes to members of Congress is significant and we have exceeded our available funding. That is why I am turning to you with this urgent request for a contribution of $25, $50, $75 or $100 or more. Please be as generous as possible during this critical time.

We have two staff members working round the clock to send all the faxes that must be sent but there are out of pocket costs that must be paid. Your gift of $50 will allow us to send 500 faxes. A contribution of $100 will cover the cost of 1,000 faxes. Please make an emergency contribution today so that we do not have to put this incredibly important effort on hold just when we need to be maximizing pressure on Congress to act.

NOM gloats over Missouri Anti-Gay Religious Bill

Although the State Senators in Missouri fought to stop SJR 39 from passing, the GOP still voted it through.

Now Brian Brown and his NOM cronies are gloating about it. Check out their latest email.
Dear vik,

The Missouri State Senate has passed Senate Joint Resolution (SJR39) that will put to the voters a Constitutional amendment protecting those of us who want to live out the truth that marriage is the union of one man and one woman in Missouri.

I don't need to tell you that our First Freedom is under attack.

As we've seen across the country Christians who stand for marriage have been under attack, even being sued for not using their talents to support same-sex "marriage".

A great first step has been taken in Missouri. Will you ACT NOW to make sure that the House passes this bill so that it can go to the voters this year!

PLEASE ACT NOW AND FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY!

Brian S Brown

P.S. The far-left media is losing it over this bill. Here's the NY Times article. The other side will be aggressively lobbying to stop this bill. Please act now!

NOM comes for Gov. Mike Pence

Brian Brown is scared that Gov. Mike Pence is going to support LGBT civil rights legislation in his state of Indiana. So, he decides to take the matter to his, or rather, NOM's blog.

Dear Marriage Supporter,

Unbelievably, Republican Governor Mike Pence of Indiana is considering endorsing a Bathroom Bill in Indiana that would ignore the reality of being male and female and allow men to use intimate facilities reserved for women and girls (bathrooms, showers, locker rooms, etc.) He's considering kowtowing to the radical left despite the overwhelming voter rejection of a similar proposal in Houston just a few weeks ago.

Once seen as a conservative rising star among Republican elected officials, Pence badly mishandled the religious liberty issue last year in Indiana and signed into law legislation that seriously damages the ability of Hoosiers to live out their faith in their everyday lives. Now he is considering going even farther — letting men into intimate facilities reserved for girls and women.

Please act immediately to sign our petition to Governor Pence urging him to reject any Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) legislation in Indiana. These SOGI bills always strip people of their religious liberty rights. And they endanger women and children and strip them of their privacy rights not to be confronted by a man in women's clothing in a restroom.

Once you've signed the petition, please forward it to at least five others and ask them to sign. We need a massive national uprising to show Governor Pence that we are watching and that we demand he not succumb to pressure from the radical left.
Desperate isn't a good look

More Comedy from NOM's Blog

I am LOVING this. In the latest post, they write about not reaching their goal

Dear Marriage Supporter,

I hate to say it, but right now it looks like we are not going to make our end-of-year matching grant.

Most of our budget is supported by our year-end efforts. Each year a few generous donors band together and generously offer to match whatever we can raise to allow us to keep fighting for marriage and religious liberty.

And every year we have made it.

But now, with four days to go, we are way behind. We must raise $97,000.00 before January 1st to make the $200,000 matching pledge.

Help Us Reach Our Goal by Donating Today!
I know we can do this, but I need your help now more than ever before.

We have four short days to ensure that we can fight for you next year. If you and everyone else who receives this email chips in and forwards this email to one friend or family member, we would easily make the entire matching grant.

For a good laugh, go over to NOM's blog. Chile, they are begging money and coming off desperate.

So good.

Here is the post about fundraising

NOM endorses Ted Cruz

From an email:
Sen. Ted Cruz is a proven champion for marriage and religious freedom and someone we can absolutely count on to fight to restore marriage to our nation’s laws and defend the religious liberty of the tens of millions of Americans who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, Sen. Cruz has not only signed NOM’s presidential marriage pledge committing to take specific actions as president, but he has personally authored the pending federal marriage amendment to restore the right of states to define marriage as one man/one woman. Moreover, he has spoken out consistently and forcefully on the campaign trail as an advocate of true marriage. We are pleased to endorse him and will do everything in our power to support his election.

The decision to endorse in the Republican primary race was a very difficult one. There are many tremendous candidates remaining who have made support for marriage a pillar of their careers in public service, including Sen. Rick Santorum, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Dr. Ben Carson and Sen. Marco Rubio. We realize that our endorsement of Sen. Cruz will be very disappointing to them. Should any of these candidates emerge as the Republican nominee we would enthusiastically support them.

However, there is a real danger that conservatives will split the vote allowing someone like Donald Trump to emerge from the crowded field, which would be disastrous. Sen. Cruz has run the best campaign thus far, racking up endorsements and financial resources and climbing in the polls. We believe he has the best chance of uniting conservatives and going on to win the nomination.

NOM has a long track record of activism in support of traditional marriage across the country, and especially in key early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire, where they have tens of thousands of supporters. The group was a principal player in the successful 2010 effort to remove three sitting Iowa Supreme Court Justices, including the state’s Chief Justice and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in that successful effort.

What's NOM been up to Lately?

NOM has been quiet lately. Mostly, because they are going broke and there's no need for them anymore.

But they're not dead yet. They're are quietly behind the scenes. See below

Many people know that NOM plays a highly visible role in the fight from our high-profile organization of the annual March for Marriage in the nation's capitol, to helping organize and promote efforts to defend marriage champions like Kim Davis, our efforts to work with prospective presidential candidates and our leadership of state referenda and ballot measure campaigns. But you may not be aware of the quiet leadership role we play behind the scenes to nurture and develop a thriving marriage movement. Let me mention three such major initiatives:

Campaign for Houston is a campaign to reject the Houston special rights initiative and is the leading campaign to reject the special rights ordinance in Houston. NOM strongly urges you to support their efforts. The City Council has passed a notorious ordinance, pushed by the city's lesbian mayor, that gives special legal rights to people claiming to be "transgendered" — including men who claim to identify as women — the right to use the restrooms reserved for the opposite sex.

The coalition "Protect Life and Marriage OK!" includes community leaders, pastors, legislators, homemakers, employees and entrepreneurs who have united in support of Oklahoma's constitutional authority to protect natural, traditional marriage and to protect innocent, unborn children from the unjust, unlawful U.S. Supreme Court actions that have invented a constitutional right for same-sex "marriage" and that have led to the abortion of over 58 million unborn children. The coalition held a huge rally this past Sunday that gathered several thousand marriage supporters. NOM was proud to have helped promote this event.

For the first time, the World Congress of Families — a global nonprofit organization that promotes the natural family — is meeting in the United States. The Congress is the world's premier pro-family gathering and is being held this week in Salt Lake City. I am attending with others from around the world who are speaking the truth about marriage and the importance of promoting the natural family. We hope to learn from each other and broadly promote the importance of the natural family.

NOM cries over Kim Davis

This judicial tyranny must end now!

Please sign our petition demanding that Kim Davis be freed immediately, and calling on elected officials in Washington and at the state level to enact legislation affording an accommodation for people so that they personally are not required to participate in something that violates their deeply held religious beliefs.

The left is already trying to spin this as "stopping discrimination" but the real victims of discrimination are Kim Davis and all of us who, because of the illegitimate ruling of the US Supreme Court in redefining marriage, are being told to sacrifice religious liberty on the altar of gay "rights."

The rogue federal judge who has jailed Kim Davis is merely the instrument of this tyranny, but the author of it are the US Supreme Court justices who ruled in June that states like Kentucky must allow same-sex 'couples' to "marry" in violation of their state constitution and laws.

It was inevitable that such a court decision would put people of faith in the crosshairs for punishment and discrimination.

Kim Davis is paying a price for all of us and we must stand with her now! Please sign the petition demanding that she be freed, and share it with all your friends and family through social media and any other way you can collect signatures.

We must build immense public pressure to force the elite and the judiciary to recognize the constitutional right of people to disagree with same-sex 'marriage' and to protect them from punishment for not being a part of it.

The case of Kim Davis is only the latest, and most shocking, example of the conflict the Supreme Court created when it imposed same-sex 'marriage' on the country without a shred of constitutional authority to do so. Before her case came a countless number of victims who have been sued, fined, lost their jobs, had their businesses closed and been threatened with financial ruin.

Now imprisonment has become a tool of gay 'marriage' activists, wielded by rogue judges in an exercise of raw power.

We must stop this judicial tyranny now! Please sign our petition to free Kim Davis and demand that elected officials protect people of faith from having to participate in an endorsement of same-sex 'marriage' against their will.

Faithfully,

Brian S Brown

NOM's donors from Maine's 2009 campaign REVEALED!

We finally have the list of donors from NOM's 2009 campaign. There were seven major donors that gave NOM more than $2 million dollars.

Here are the folks responsible:

  • Richard and Virginia Kurtz of Cape Elizabeth. They also gave $1,000 to the 2008 campaign to Prop 8.
  • Sean Fieler, president of the hedge fund Equinox Partners and the Kuroto Fund. He gave $1.25 million to NOM in 2009.
  • John Templeton of Pennsylvania ($300,000)
  • Terrence Caster (A1 Self Storage fortune) of California ($300,000)
  • Knights of Columbus ($140,000)

Wow, these folks spent so much money against us... Sad

The Latest Money Begging Email from NOM

Here's a part of the letter

Dear vik,

When I issued my statement from the steps of the US Supreme Court reacting to the 5-4 court ruling redefining marriage, I said in the opening paragraph that the American people would reject the decision, and that the Supreme Court would not have the last word on this issue. Boy was I right!

A new national survey released a few days ago by the Associated Press/GfK found that support for same-sex 'marriage' has collapsed. Since the Supreme Court ruling, support for SSM has dropped by 6 points and opposition has increased by 4 points — a combined 10 point movement in public opinion. That is an astonishing degree of movement in such a short period of time!

The AP survey found that 42% of Americans support same-sex 'marriage' while 40% now oppose it. Statistically, that is a dead heat. Just this past April, supporters of SSM enjoyed a 12 point advantage, 48%-36%. Since the Supreme Court decision imposing gay 'marriage' in every state, we're now in a whole new ballgame.

I am so encouraged by the public reaction to the illegitimate decision of the Supreme Court because it means that NOM's five-point plan to contain and then reverse it has a real chance of capturing the support of the American people. I am asking you today for your financial help to implement our plan and engage the American people who are finally waking up to what has happened. We need to raise $100,000 in the next three weeks to move our plan forward. Will you step up with an emergency donation of $10, $25, $50 $100, $250 or even $500 or more?

Lord, Brian and his staff are really tying to stay employed.

NOM vows to fight on... And Begs for Money

From their blog
"If you believe that our next President of the United States must be a champion for true marriage, then we ask you to donate today so that we can make this a reality in the future. There are other elements of our plan to go forward, and I will discuss these in future communications. For now, rest assured that NOM is in this fight for the long haul, and we trust you will be there with us. This is a dark day, but we are not defeated. Indeed, we have been reenergized and are more determined than ever to reverse this injustice and restore God's institution of marriage to its proper place in American law and culture. Our opponents are now counting on you to give up, and so is a majority of the US Supreme Court. Remember it was Justice Ginsburg who violated judicial ethics to comment publicly that the American people will easily accept this illegitimate decision. Please act today to prove her wrong! Your contribution of $25, $50, $100, $500 or $1,000 or more will be an investment in the next phase of this struggle and allow us to begin to fight back and ultimately reverse this terrible decision."

NOM's Presidential Marriage Pledge is back

NOM is back to force the GOP to sign their Hate Pledge.

On their site they have this silly pledge against gay marriage. It reads:

Marriage is Under Attack

Marriage is under unprecedented attack by gay and lesbian activists and federal judges who have illegitimately ruled in at least twenty states that it is unconstitutional to recognize marriage in the law as it has existed in reality for millennia, the union of one man and one woman. These judges have ignored the decision of countless elected officials and over 50 million voters who have participated in the democratic process to define marriage. Now the US Supreme Court is considering ruling in a case that could impose gay ‘marriage’ on the entire nation.

It is critical that the next President of the United States be a champion for marriage and commit to take specific actions needed to preserve marriage and restore a vibrant marriage culture in America. The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) has asked each Republican candidate to sign a pledge committing the candidate to particular actions if elected.

And here's the pledge
The Presidential Marriage Pledge

I, _____________ _____________, pledge to the American people that if elected President, I will:

One, support a federal constitutional amendment that protects marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

Two, oppose and work to overturn any Supreme Court decision that illegitimately finds a constitutional "right" to the redefinition of marriage. This includes nominating to the U.S. Supreme Court and federal bench judges who are committed to restraint and applying the original meaning of the Constitution, and appointing an attorney general similarly committed.

Three, conduct a review of regulatory, administrative and executive actions taken by the current Administration that have the effect of undermining marriage and work to restore our policies to be consistent with the proper understanding of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Consistent with this, prevent the promotion of a redefined version of marriage in public schools and other government entities.

Four, support the First Amendment Defense Act and other legislation that recognizes the right of organizations and individuals to act in the public square consistent with their belief that marriage is the union of one man and one woman without fear of retaliation from the government.

Five, direct the Department of Justice to investigate, document and publicize cases of Americans who have been harassed or threatened for exercising key civil rights to organize, to speak, to donate or to vote for marriage and to propose new protections, if needed.

Girl... Please.

Interesting Quote: Brian Brown

We live in a challenging time, one where our national leaders increasingly seem to deny the importance of some of our founding national principles, not the least of which is religious liberty. Indeed far from being willing to fight to defend this core foundational principle so that is passed to the next generation, some national leaders seem intent on undercutting it. Indeed, we've seen baseless charges of "bigotry" and "discrimination" leveled at those with sincerely-held religious objections to participating in things like same-sex 'wedding' ceremonies and providing health insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs. For a large number of governmental and cultural elites, the concept of "religious liberty" is being reduced to being able to worship in private, but not to actually live your faith principles in the public square.

NOM is Broke, they need a GoFundMe campaign to pay for Buses

Here is their latest email blast

Friends — We have launched a new campaign through GoFundMe.com to help raise the funds we need to organize additional buses for marriage supporters to come to Washington, DC for the 2015 March for Marriage on April 25th. Please help us!

We have many more requests for buses than we have funds to pay for them. Every dollar we raise in this campaign will go to help subsidize buses for communities that do not have the resources to sponsor a bus on their own. Many of these are in urban communities. Nobody should miss the opportunity to attend the critically-important March for Marriage due to lack of resources. Please give today, and then share the link with all your friends via email, Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you for your support!
This March for Marriage is going to be a bust.

NOM files Brief to SCOTUS, claiming Public Support for Marriage isn't Strong Enough

NOM is still trying...

These fools, along with their political director, Frank Schubert, have filed a joint amicus brief with the US Supreme Court trying stop marriage equality. They state that the nation wants nothing but traditional marriage, and changing the status quo will galvanize opposition to same-sex marriage, just like the Roe vs wade galvanized opposition to abortion.

From NOM's blog
"The notion advanced in some corridors that the American people have significantly altered their views on same-sex marriage in recent years to the point that large majorities now support a redefinition of marriage and therefore would readily accept a mandate from this Court imposing same-sex marriage on the nation is simply not true," said Frank Schubert, NOM's national political director.

Schubert examined more than one dozen recent public opinion surveys and found that they fell into one of four categories:

Those showing majority support for traditional marriage;
Those showing support for same-sex marriage dropping;
Those showing plurality support for one side or another, but not majority support; and
Those showing majority support for same-sex marriage.
