New Study: White Americans are the Biggest Terrorist Threat in America
This is some interesting news today.
A study by the New America Foundation has note that White Americans are the biggest terror threat in the United States. The research group looked at the attacks from Sept. 11, 2001 and according to their findings, these attacks came from radical anti-government groups or white supremacists.
Here's more
Almost twice as many people have died in attacks by right-wing groups in America than have died in attacks by Muslim extremists. Of the 26 attacks since 9/11 that the group defined as terror, 19 were carried out by non-Muslims. Yet there are no white Americans languishing inside the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. And there are no drones dropping bombs on gatherings of military-age males in the country's lawless border regions.Check out the link for more info.
Attacks by right-wing groups get comparatively little coverage in the news media. Most people will struggle to remember the shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin that killed six people in 2012. A man who associated with neo-Nazi groups carried out that shooting. There was also the married couple in Las Vegas who walked into a pizza shop and murdered two police officers. They left a swastika on one of the bodies before killing a third person in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Such attacks are not limited to one part of the country. In 2011, two white supremacists went on a shooting spree in the Pacific Northwest, killing four people.

E.W. Jackson Launches a Petition to Protect the Bigoted Rights of Christians
The website is called STAND, Staying True to America's National Destiny (gag). And the page on the petition states:
We the undersigned, as citizens of the United States, hereby demand that Congress and the President pass legislation recognizing that under the First Amendment of the Constitution it is a violation of civil rights to fire Americans from their jobs, fine them in their businesses, restrict them from contracting with agencies of government, discipline them in their schools, or punish them in the military for peaceably expressing faith in Jesus Christ, the Biblical definition of marriage, the sacredness of life or any other article of faith; nor may the peaceful expression of such viewpoints ever be a cause for civil or criminal liability or prosecution as hate speech, bigotry or discrimination.
In this video, he explains his reason for this mess.

Hate Groups are on the Rise in America
America is getting hateful by the minute it seems. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, more hate groups are popping up:
The center, which has kept track of such groups for 30 years, recorded 1,018 hate groups operating last year.
The number of groups whose ideology is organized against specific racial, religious, sexual or other characteristics has risen steadily since 2000, when 602 were identified, the center said. Antigay groups, for example, have risen to 27 from 17 in 2010.
The report also described a “stunning” rise in the number of groups it identifies as part of the so-called patriot and militia movements, whose ideologies include deep distrust of the federal government. In 2011, the center tracked 1,274 of those groups, up from 824 the year before.
“They represent both a kind of right-wing populist rage and a left-wing populist rage that has gotten all mixed up in anger toward the government,” said Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center and the author of the report.

53% of Americans support Same-Sex Marriage
A Gallup Poll shows a clear majority of Americans supports gay marriage.
According to LA Times:
A new Gallup Poll released this morning finds that this month 53% of Americans say same-sex marriage should be recognized in law as equally valid with traditional male-female marriages.Times are changing for real! I guess that's why folks think the rapture is tomorrow.
The spurt in support of 9% in the past 12 months was the largest registered since Gallup first tracked the topic in 1996. Back then, only 27% supported same-sex marriage and two-thirds opposed.
Support for same-sex marriages had hovered in the low 40's since about 2004, until the latest figures, showing 59% of independents and 69% of Democrats now support the idea, while 28% of Republicans do. The GOP figure was unchanged from 2010.
The new statistics also show a predictable generational cleavage, with support for gay marriage highest among the youngest (70% among those 18 to 34), declining to 53% among those 35 to 54 years old and weakest among those over 55 (39%) -- although even that segment's support increased six points in the past 12 months.
Support for gay marriage is higher among Catholics than Protestants, among the unmarried and among those who attend church less frequently.

Interesting Quote: Troy David Newham from Swamp Fox Press
DC comics has decided to have Superman renounce his US citizenship stating “Truth Justice and the American Way It’s not enough anymore.”Troy is upset, really upset about Supes going Global.
Who buys comics? Mostly Americans I reckon…
How dare they? Do you know how many people are trying to get citizenship? How many are going through pure hell in paperwork and legal costs to do this? The statements are clear that DC (and I must assume that these views are shared by Warner Brothers as well since they own DC Comics) is a fan of the “world view”/world government.
Bleep Superman. I urge a boycott of Warner Brothers, all DC franchises, and particularly Superman. They intended this to be a political statement, but it is really a slap in the face of the American identity. Show me any one country that has done more for the world than America. We have fought for more people and sacrificed more treasure than any other country in history.
Superman’s real kryptonite is lack of comic sales. Hit them where it hurts, and I bet they’ll be doing a special issue where he retakes the citizenship oaths.

So, How Many LGBT folks live in America?
A new study from the Williams Institute claims (close to) 9 million Americans are LGBT.
That's it? I thought there were more... Anywho, there is more info from this study that you may find interesting.
In total, with approximately 700,000 transgender Americans, nearly 4% of the nation's population is openly LGBT.
Furthermore, an estimated 19 million people, or 8.2%, have engaged in some relationships or sexual behavior with someone of the same sex, and 25.6 million admit to harboring at least some same-sex attraction at some point.
The research shows that slightly more people identify as bisexual (1.8%) than as lesbian or gay (1.7%), and women are more likely than men to identify as bisexual.
The Los Angeles-based think tank came to the number after cross-referencing four recent national and two state-level population-based surveys.
"Last week, the Institute of Medicine at the National Academies released an analysis of LGBT health research calling for federal statistical agencies to quickly move toward LGBT inclusion in their data collection," lead researcher Gary Gates said in a statement. "The surveys highlighted in this report demonstrate the usefulness of sexual orientation and gender identity questions on large-scale national population-based surveys.
Better data can provide the building blocks for critical information to understand the lives of the 9 million LGBT Americans who have been historically marginalized in both society and research."Here is a link to study. Check it out.

Interesting Quote: Don Thompson - McDonald's COO

It is an example that markets, cultures are very different around the world. (For instance), I've never shied away from the fact that I'm a Christian. I have my own personal beliefs and I don't impose those on anybody else. I've been in countries where the majority of the people in the country don't believe in a deity or they may be atheist. Or the majority of the country is Muslim. Or it may be the majority is much younger skewed. So when you look at all these differences, it's not that I'm to be the judge or the jury relative to right or wrong. Having said that, at McDonald's, there are core values we stand for and the world is getting much closer. So we have a lot of conversations. We're going to make some mistakes at times. (We talk) about things that may have an implication in one part of the world and may be the cultural norm in another part of the world. And those are things that, yes, we're going to learn from. But, you're right, that commercial won't show in the United States.

The Tea Party presents: Contract From America

The Teabaggers have a contract, read this.
On April 15th, hundreds of local Tea Party and limited government groups around the country will join together to announce the launch of the “Contract from America,” a grassroots legislative blueprint for 2010 and beyond. Originally proposed by Ryan Hecker, a Houston Tea Party activist and National Coordinator for the initiative’s chief organizing group Tea Party Patriots, this project is intended to present a different kind of agenda for our federal lawmakers: unlike the Contract with America introduced in the 1990s, everyday citizens proposed and voted on every plank of the Contract from America.
Grassroots activists from across the country visited the website to choose their top ten priorities from a list of 21 action items that committed Americans from all walks of life proposed. The top ten issues comprise the final Contract. By asking website visitors to propose and vote on the agenda, the result is not a list handed down from on high by old-bull politicians, but one handed up from the true grassroots in this country. After garnering nearly half a million votes in less than two months, the Contract from America has now been finalized into a blueprint that will serve notice to public officials about what the people want for their future.
And the top ten are…
1. Protect the Constitution
2. Reject Cap & Trade
3. Demand a Balanced Budget
4. Enact Fundamental Tax Reform
5. Restore Fiscal Responsibility & Constitutionally Limited Government in Washington
6. End Runaway Government Spending
7. Defund, Repeal, & Replace Government-run Health Care
8. Pass an ‘All-of-the-Above” Energy Policy
9. Stop the Pork
10. Stop the Tax Hikes
Whatever

28% of Americans are Idiots

Tea Party folks are this year's (and more to come) super joke.
And, they make up over a quarter of America, according to a new Gallup Poll
Good Grief! The poll results suggest that along several demographic planes --including age, employment status and race-- Tea Party supporters resemble the population at large. 79 percent of Tea Partiers, for example, are "non-Hispanic white", as compared with 75 percent of the entire country.
The poll confirms, however, that Tea Party supporters overwhelmingly skew Republican and conservative. 49 percent of all self-identified Tea Party supporters classified themselves as Republican; a total of 92 percent were either Republican or Independent, with a mere 8 percent identifying themselves as Democrats.

Race, Crazies and Hope...My rant on life as we know it.

With all this talk about racism, Joe Wilson and Obama, you can't help but to think... What's really going on?
Many would like to believe that we moved past all of that, but the "treal" is, we haven't.
One of my students asked me if I was shocked about the, "the return of racism". I told him racism never left, it's always been here. However, what we are seeing right now is just a version of it.
The teabaggers or Real Americans are the examples of this version. They are in fear of change and so settled in their foolish ways. It tickles me how they talk about "losing their country" and "give us back our nation". These are the same folks that get screwed over by the GOP every time and are too ignorant to see that.
But to them, Obama is the Great Black Demon, trying to turn us into socialists and Muslims. He is trying to help them have a better life and they continue to spout out the "He's not an American, Muslim, jungle monkey" foolishness. It's like they can not accept that he is the president, our president.
Also the lack of respect from his peers is another example. Joe Wilson is proof of this. When Bush and Cheney were running things, none of congress folks would had ever disrespected them in public. When Joe did that mess, it was clear to me that he had no respect for Obama. Then when you look at Joe's ties to certain groups with high racial views, you can help but to see racism in the midst.
As Obama continues in office, we will see more of this foolishness. We were seeing this stuff way back in the primaries and during the election. But, this can be a good thing (you know I have to present a silver lining)
Hopefully, these issues will continue the conversations about race, lunacy, ignorance and hate. Our hope lies with the next generation, who's off to a decent start with change. Seeing these sad folks scream and shout, may trigger a stronger resistance to this racial malarkey. Call me silly, but I think these crazy times could be a turning point to something better.
