NOM's begging for money again

Lord, Brian Brown is back, sending messy emails:
The left, including LGBT extremists, are frantically watching this process unfold because they know that it is only a matter of time before new justices join the Court and are in a position to unravel prior decisions that have no basis in constitutional law — most especially Roe v Wade inventing a right to abortion and the Obergefell decision imposing gay ‘marriage’ on the nation.

That is why many of these extremists are demanding that Democrats refuse to allow any Trump nominee to be confirmed unless that individual pledges to follow a liberal path. We are going to have a titanic battle ahead of us for control of the Supreme Court and, by extension, control over the future direction of our country for a generation or more. Please do your part to make sure we are in a position to win the coming battle.

It’s unfortunate that some conservatives have begun to pick apart the list and criticize some individuals as not being worthy of appointment. That serves no purpose except to indirectly embolden the left. If the left can parlay criticism of a particular pick from some conservatives, then their nakedly partisan attempts to torpedo any nominee will have some cover.

Let me be clear — NOM is prepared to fight vigorously for any nominee on Mr. Trump’s list of potential appointees. Recently, some people close to the president have suggested that the pick will be one of the current justices on a court of appeals because those individuals have already survived a Senate confirmation vote. There are seven such individuals on the Trump list, and all would be excellent.

NOM's President Brian Brown Starts a Global Hate Group

NOM's President Brian Brown is starting a global hate group. It's called the International Organization for the Family (IOF) and it sounds messy af.

Here's more

IOF says it “unites and equips leaders worldwide to promote the natural family.” Its first public project is a new global anti-LGBT manifesto dubbed the “Cape Town Declaration,” which the right-wing site Breitbart described as “throwing down the gauntlet to the LGBT lobby.” IOF is hoping to gather two million signatures in the coming year. Manifesto signers pledge “to resist the rising cultural imperialism of Western powers whose governments seek nothing less than the ideological colonization of the family.” It is certainly no coincidence that the manifesto includes “ideological colonization,” a phrase repeatedly employed by Pope Francis.

The declaration and its concluding vow – “Bowing to no earthly power, using every just measure, we shall not falter or flag until the truth about marriage is embraced in our laws and honored in our lands” – feels a lot like a global version of the 2009 Manhattan Declaration, in which conservative evangelicals and Catholics pledged civil disobedience and vowed never to “bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality and immorality and marriage and the family.”

That’s probably no coincidence either. Among the early signers of the Cape Town Declaration are conservative Catholic scholar Robert George, one of the Manhattan Declaration’s authors, and a George protégé, anti-equality activist Ryan Anderson of the Heritage Foundation.

Other signers from the U.S. include right-wing operative Richard Viguerie; NOM Chairman John Eastman; Larry Jacobs of the World Congress of Families; anti-marriage-equality strategist Frank Schubert; C-Fam’s Austin Ruse, who is fomenting anti-LGBT backlash at the United Nations; Howard Center founder Allan Carlson; Janice Shaw Crouse, who led the 2015 World Congress of Families summit in Salt Lake City; and Movieguide’s Ted Baehr. Also among the initial signers are anti-equality activists from around the world; many of them, like Nigeria’s Theresa Okafor, have participated in World Congress of Families summits.

Also listed as signers are a number of religious leaders, including Foley Beach, Archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America; Catholic Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Ojo, Nigeria; Lawrence Khongy, pastor of Faith Community Baptist Church in Singapore; and Josiah Trenham, an Orthodox priest who has spoken repeatedly at World Congress of Families gatherings.

Brian Brown is the President of The World Congress of Families... A Global Hate Group

Well I guess Brian Brown has a new job. Since nobody cares about NOM anymore, Brian needed a job to feed his family. So, he's the president of The World Congress of Families

From the press release:
Brown was elected at the recent World Congress of Families X conference in Tbilisi, Georgia. He will continue to serve as president of NOM. “I am honored that the Board of the World Congress of Families has elected me to serve as its president, and I look forward to continuing to work to advance the pro-family movement in the US and around the world,” Brown said. “Preserving and promoting the natural family as the core institution of society is an essential task if we are to build strong, stable, healthy communities.”

The World Congress of Families (WCF) is anchored in truths enshrined in the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which provides that, “Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion” (article 18), and that, “The family is the natural and fundamental group unit of society and is entitled to protection by society and the State” (article 16(3)). WCF focuses on providing that protection to which the natural family is entitled, while also protecting the right to freedom of conscience and religion. WCF upholds the rule of law, condemns violence, and respects the dignity and rights of all.

“In recent years, secular leaders around the world have become obsessed with advancing so-called ‘alternative’ family structures. But there is no family structure more valuable and important to children and civilization as a whole than that of a married father and mother raising the children born of their union in an intact and loving family,” Brown said. “The natural family produces the best outcomes for society – promoting child health and well-being, encouraging marital happiness, enhancing economic prosperity, reducing delinquency and criminality, enhancing educational attainment, promoting spiritual growth, and securing liberty and human dignity. I look forward to contributing to WCF’s work to develop and advance pro-family policies around the world.”

NOM comes for Gov. Mike Pence

Brian Brown is scared that Gov. Mike Pence is going to support LGBT civil rights legislation in his state of Indiana. So, he decides to take the matter to his, or rather, NOM's blog.

Dear Marriage Supporter,

Unbelievably, Republican Governor Mike Pence of Indiana is considering endorsing a Bathroom Bill in Indiana that would ignore the reality of being male and female and allow men to use intimate facilities reserved for women and girls (bathrooms, showers, locker rooms, etc.) He's considering kowtowing to the radical left despite the overwhelming voter rejection of a similar proposal in Houston just a few weeks ago.

Once seen as a conservative rising star among Republican elected officials, Pence badly mishandled the religious liberty issue last year in Indiana and signed into law legislation that seriously damages the ability of Hoosiers to live out their faith in their everyday lives. Now he is considering going even farther — letting men into intimate facilities reserved for girls and women.

Please act immediately to sign our petition to Governor Pence urging him to reject any Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) legislation in Indiana. These SOGI bills always strip people of their religious liberty rights. And they endanger women and children and strip them of their privacy rights not to be confronted by a man in women's clothing in a restroom.

Once you've signed the petition, please forward it to at least five others and ask them to sign. We need a massive national uprising to show Governor Pence that we are watching and that we demand he not succumb to pressure from the radical left.
Desperate isn't a good look

More Comedy from NOM's Blog

I am LOVING this. In the latest post, they write about not reaching their goal

Dear Marriage Supporter,

I hate to say it, but right now it looks like we are not going to make our end-of-year matching grant.

Most of our budget is supported by our year-end efforts. Each year a few generous donors band together and generously offer to match whatever we can raise to allow us to keep fighting for marriage and religious liberty.

And every year we have made it.

But now, with four days to go, we are way behind. We must raise $97,000.00 before January 1st to make the $200,000 matching pledge.

Help Us Reach Our Goal by Donating Today!
I know we can do this, but I need your help now more than ever before.

We have four short days to ensure that we can fight for you next year. If you and everyone else who receives this email chips in and forwards this email to one friend or family member, we would easily make the entire matching grant.

NOM's Money Begging Blog is Pure Comedy

For a good laugh, go over to NOM's blog. Chile, they are begging money and coming off desperate.

So good.

Here is the post about fundraising

NOM endorses Ted Cruz

From an email:
Sen. Ted Cruz is a proven champion for marriage and religious freedom and someone we can absolutely count on to fight to restore marriage to our nation’s laws and defend the religious liberty of the tens of millions of Americans who believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, Sen. Cruz has not only signed NOM’s presidential marriage pledge committing to take specific actions as president, but he has personally authored the pending federal marriage amendment to restore the right of states to define marriage as one man/one woman. Moreover, he has spoken out consistently and forcefully on the campaign trail as an advocate of true marriage. We are pleased to endorse him and will do everything in our power to support his election.

The decision to endorse in the Republican primary race was a very difficult one. There are many tremendous candidates remaining who have made support for marriage a pillar of their careers in public service, including Sen. Rick Santorum, Gov. Mike Huckabee, Dr. Ben Carson and Sen. Marco Rubio. We realize that our endorsement of Sen. Cruz will be very disappointing to them. Should any of these candidates emerge as the Republican nominee we would enthusiastically support them.

However, there is a real danger that conservatives will split the vote allowing someone like Donald Trump to emerge from the crowded field, which would be disastrous. Sen. Cruz has run the best campaign thus far, racking up endorsements and financial resources and climbing in the polls. We believe he has the best chance of uniting conservatives and going on to win the nomination.

NOM has a long track record of activism in support of traditional marriage across the country, and especially in key early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire, where they have tens of thousands of supporters. The group was a principal player in the successful 2010 effort to remove three sitting Iowa Supreme Court Justices, including the state’s Chief Justice and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in that successful effort.

Interesting Quote: Brian Brown

“Gay activists who heavily influence media coverage do not want any honest debate about the what Americans actually believe — as evidenced by the election results in Kentucky and Houston — and instead want people to simply be told they must accept the rogue decisions of judges who have imposed a radical view of marriage and human sexuality on the nation.

“It thus falls to NOM to help Americans sort through the facts from the fantasy manufactured by LGBT activists and the media that fawns over them. It’s why we spend so much time communicating with you, our supporters, so that you are armed with the information you need to help push back on the narrative that redefining marriage is “a done deal” and must be accepted.

“We’ve had some tremendous successes in recent months, and the victories in Houston and Kentucky add to our track record. But they and future victories are only possible if we enjoy your continued support. Please give generously so that we can replenish our coffers and prepare for future opportunities to advance the cause of marriage and religious liberty.”

Brian Brown: Fox News doesn't care about Traditional Marriage

Brian went on NOM's blog to whine about the gay marriage questions during the Fox News debate. If you tuned in, it seemed that folks are moving on and don't care about gay marriage like NOM does.

This is what he said:
"The nation watched the first debate of the presidential cycle this week, as Fox News hosted the affair from Cleveland on Thursday evening. As many NOM supporters have observed, the mainstream media rarely treats the marriage issue with the importance it deserves, and even Fox News has been reluctant to give it fair and balanced coverage. Regrettably, this was evident in their handling of the marriage issue during the presidential debate. Only two candidates were asked about marriage, and it was phrased in an adversarial way, pitting support for traditional marriage as being at odds with support for a gay family member. How ridiculous! Sadly, when it came to the marriage issue, Fox News bumbled badly. We hope that future debates will give the candidates a fuller opportunity to expound on their views about protecting marriage and the actions they will take as president to reverse the illegitimate ruling of the Supreme Court. NOM is committed to helping the American people separate out the marriage champions from the pretenders by issuing our Presidential Marriage Pledge. A number of candidates have signed onto our pledge, and we will be announcing those names soon."
Brian, face it... You have LOST!

The Latest Money Begging Email from NOM

Here's a part of the letter

Dear vik,

When I issued my statement from the steps of the US Supreme Court reacting to the 5-4 court ruling redefining marriage, I said in the opening paragraph that the American people would reject the decision, and that the Supreme Court would not have the last word on this issue. Boy was I right!

A new national survey released a few days ago by the Associated Press/GfK found that support for same-sex 'marriage' has collapsed. Since the Supreme Court ruling, support for SSM has dropped by 6 points and opposition has increased by 4 points — a combined 10 point movement in public opinion. That is an astonishing degree of movement in such a short period of time!

The AP survey found that 42% of Americans support same-sex 'marriage' while 40% now oppose it. Statistically, that is a dead heat. Just this past April, supporters of SSM enjoyed a 12 point advantage, 48%-36%. Since the Supreme Court decision imposing gay 'marriage' in every state, we're now in a whole new ballgame.

I am so encouraged by the public reaction to the illegitimate decision of the Supreme Court because it means that NOM's five-point plan to contain and then reverse it has a real chance of capturing the support of the American people. I am asking you today for your financial help to implement our plan and engage the American people who are finally waking up to what has happened. We need to raise $100,000 in the next three weeks to move our plan forward. Will you step up with an emergency donation of $10, $25, $50 $100, $250 or even $500 or more?

Lord, Brian and his staff are really tying to stay employed.

Brian Brown whines about the Equality Act

From his latest email
"Sponsored by the grossly-misnamed Human Rights Campaign special interest group, HR 3185 is breathtaking in its scope. It would allow gay and lesbian activists to persecute Americans in virtually every area of society — in employment, public accommodations, housing, credit, and a dozen other areas of civil life. Wherever federal law prohibits racial discrimination, it would also prohibit 'discrimination' based on 'sexual orientation and gender identity.' The legislation puts in the crosshairs anyone who believes God created people male and female. It would declare that a traditional view of human sexuality is hateful and bigoted and treat Christians, Jews and other people of faith just as the law treats racists. HR 3185 specifically denies someone who has been targeted the ability to rely on the provisions of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act as a defense against the complaint of discrimination.

"Please act today to help us defeat HR 3185. Click here to send a message to your federal representatives asking them to vote against this dangerous proposal that will result in rampant persecution of Americans in virtually every area of civil life. It is imperative that members of Congress hear immediately that the American people will not tolerate the creation of powerful special rights for one segment of society, and allow them to use the power of the federal government to persecute anyone who disagrees with them."

Interesting Quote: Brian Brown

"We must overturn this decision. This point is a particularly daunting task. In the upcoming election we need to elect a president who will champion the cause for the family, and work to overturn this decision within the next election cycle. Until we overturn Obergefell, we must contain the effects of the decision. There are a number of ways to contain the effects of the ruling, including FADA, a bill that guarantees first amendment rights."

Brian Brown fangirls over Ryan T. Anderson's new Book

From his email:
"An important new book has been published today that we highly recommend to you. Authored by Ryan Anderson, a great friend of NOM's and a scholar at The Heritage Foundation, the book 'Truth Overruled: The Future of Marriage and Religious Freedom' is a tour-de-force examination of the issues in the marriage debate and an enlightening reflection on what is at stake. Please consider purchasing a copy today. And if you agree with us that the book is extraordinary, please write a favorable review. As you might imagine, the 'haters' among our opponents are busy trolling the Internet to criticize the book because they realize that it is a powerful, principled witness to the truth of preserving marriage as the union of one man and one woman."

Conservative Woes over Marriage Equality

Tony Perkins
"Five justices on the Supreme Court have overturned the votes of 50 million Americans and demanded that the American people walk away from millennia of history and the reality of human nature. In reaching a decision so lacking in foundation in the text of the Constitution, in our history, and in our traditions, the Court has done serious damage to its own legitimacy. No court can overturn natural law. Nature and Nature’s God, hailed by the signers of our Declaration of Independence as the very source of law, cannot be usurped by the edict of a court, even the United States Supreme Court. Americans will not stop standing for transcendent truth, nor accept the legitimacy of this decision. Truth is not decided by polls or the passage of time, but by the One who created time and everything that exists therein. We will not lapse into silence but will continue to speak uncompromisingly for the truth about what marriage is, always has been, and always will be: the union of one man and one woman."

Ryan T. Anderson
"Today is a significant setback for all Americans who believe in the Constitution, the rule of law, democratic self-government, and marriage as the union of one man and one woman. The Court got it wrong: it should not have mandated all 50 states to redefine marriage. This is judicial activism: nothing in the Constitution requires the redefinition of marriage, and the Court imposed its judgment about a policy matter that should be decided by the American people and their elected representatives. The Court got marriage and the Constitution wrong today just like they got abortion and the Constitution wrong 42 years ago with Roe v. Wade. Five unelected judges do not have the power to change the truth about marriage or the truth about the Constitution."

Brian Brown
"Though expected, today's decision is completely illegitimate. We reject it and so will the American people. It represents nothing but judicial activism, legislating from the bench, with a bare majority of the Justices on the Supreme Court exercising raw political power to impose their own preferences on marriage when they have no constitutional authority to do so. It is a lawless ruling that contravenes the decisions of over 50 million voters and their elected representatives. It is a decision that is reminiscent of other illegitimate Court rulings such as Dred Scott and Roe v Wade and will further plunge the Supreme Court into public disrepute. Make no mistake about it: The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and countless millions of Americans do not accept this ruling. Instead, we will work at every turn to reverse it. The US Supreme Court does not have the authority to redefine something it did not create. Marriage was created long before the United States and our constitution came into existence. Our constitution says nothing about marriage. The majority who issued today's ruling have simply made it up out of thin air with no constitutional authority. Today's decision of the Supreme Court lacks both constitutional and moral authority. There is no eternal or natural law that allows for marriage to be redefined." - Hate group leader Brian Brown, in a press release stained with bitter impotent tears.

Bobby Jindal
"The Supreme Court decision today conveniently and not surprisingly follows public opinion polls, and tramples on states’ rights that were once protected by the 10th Amendment of the Constitution. Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that. This decision will pave the way for an all out assault against the religious freedom rights of Christians who disagree with this decision. This ruling must not be used as pretext by Washington to erode our right to religious liberty. The government should not force those who have sincerely held religious beliefs about marriage to participate in these ceremonies. That would be a clear violation of America’s long held commitment to religious liberty as protected in the First Amendment. I will never stop fighting for religious liberty and I hope our leaders in D.C. join me.

Rick Santorum

“Today, five unelected justices decided to redefine the foundational unit that binds together our society without public debate or input. Now is the people’s opportunity respond because the future of the institution of marriage is too important to not have a public debate. The Court is one of three co-equal branches of government and, just as they have in cases from Dred Scott to Plessy, the Court has an imperfect track record. The stakes are too high and the issue too important to simply cede the will of the people to five unaccountable justices.
“But leaders don’t accept bad decisions that they believe harm the country, they have the courage of their convictions and lead the country down the better path. Marriage, the family and our children are too central to a healthy society to not fight for what is best. I realized that fact early on and that is why I lead the charge against some in my own party in 2004 to ensure the Federal Marriage Amendment received a vote and I continue to stand for marriage, for families, for freedom.
“As President, I will be committed to using the bully pulpit of the White House to lead a national discussion on the importance to our economy and our culture of mothers and fathers entering into healthy marriages so that every child is given their birthright- to be raised by their mother and father in a stable, loving home. I will stand for the preservation of religious liberty and conscience, to believe what you are called to believe free from persecution. And I will ensure that the people will have a voice in decisions that impact the rock upon which our civilization is built.”

Interesting Quote: Brian Brown

We live in a challenging time, one where our national leaders increasingly seem to deny the importance of some of our founding national principles, not the least of which is religious liberty. Indeed far from being willing to fight to defend this core foundational principle so that is passed to the next generation, some national leaders seem intent on undercutting it. Indeed, we've seen baseless charges of "bigotry" and "discrimination" leveled at those with sincerely-held religious objections to participating in things like same-sex 'wedding' ceremonies and providing health insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs. For a large number of governmental and cultural elites, the concept of "religious liberty" is being reduced to being able to worship in private, but not to actually live your faith principles in the public square.

NOM is Broke, they need a GoFundMe campaign to pay for Buses

Here is their latest email blast

Friends — We have launched a new campaign through GoFundMe.com to help raise the funds we need to organize additional buses for marriage supporters to come to Washington, DC for the 2015 March for Marriage on April 25th. Please help us!

We have many more requests for buses than we have funds to pay for them. Every dollar we raise in this campaign will go to help subsidize buses for communities that do not have the resources to sponsor a bus on their own. Many of these are in urban communities. Nobody should miss the opportunity to attend the critically-important March for Marriage due to lack of resources. Please give today, and then share the link with all your friends via email, Twitter and Facebook.

Thank you for your support!
This March for Marriage is going to be a bust.

Brian Brown on Indiana's Right To Discriminate Bill

From his press release
"The state of Indiana has stepped up to the plate in defending marriage and religious freedom. If you remember, a federal judge recently struck down Indiana's state marriage amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. That decision will be subject to whatever Supreme Court ruling is issued this summer. But the marriage champions in the Hoosier state wouldn't sit back and wait. They acted to defend marriage and religious liberty by passing the Religious Freedom Restoration Act this week by overwhelming majorities in the state House and Senate. Governor Pence just signed the bill yesterday. The new legislation protects individuals who wish to live their lives and run their businesses in keeping with their sincere and deeply held religious beliefs. I'd like to thank Governor Pence and the brave legislators of the state of Indiana for being pro-active in defending marriage and religious liberty, and urge every state in the union to follow their lead in passing similar legislation."

The Latest Message from Brian Brown

Dear vik,
We are now just six weeks away from one of the most important events in our cause to preserve marriage — the 2015 March for Marriage taking place on April 25th in Washington, DC.

The importance of this march cannot be overstated — it is our last, best hope to show the justices of the US Supreme Court that the American people demand that their views, values and votes be respected and that marriage be preserved!
Please make plans for joining us for the March for Marriage this year as we make the case for marriage. Three days after the justices of the Supreme Court see the outpouring of support for marriage, they will hear oral argument in the case that could shape the legal definition of marriage in America for years to come.

I would LOVE to particpate
