Should Tim Tebow Make a 'It Gets Better' Video?

Yesterday a petition went out to get Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow to make It Gets Better' Video. So far they have collected over 5000 signatures.

Here's the letter:
Within the last few months the Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants have all made videos for the It Gets Better campaign to benefit the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community. These teams have spoken out against bullying and hatred in our society. The Giants became the first professional sports team to make a video for the campaign and numerous other teams have stepped-up to help inform LGBT youth that it gets better and help avert suicide. We are urging the Denver Broncos to set an example for the rest of the Colorado teams by making an "It Gets Better" video.

The It Gets Better campaign started last fall following the alarming number of gay teen suicides around the country. The "It Gets Better Project" is a website and organization dedicated to helping "young people who are lesbian, gay, bi or transsexual see how love and happiness can be a reality in their future." We hope the Broncos will continue fostering its impressive record of community service by taking it to a new level. Sign this petition to let the Denver Broncos know that you're a fan and that you want to see them make an "It Gets Better" video.
It would be great if Tim and the team make a video. However, I want them to do this because they want to. This would be really something if they decided to do one awhile ago, without a petition drive.

This initiative has it good points and bad points. On one hand, it good that the campaign has such power, but at the same time, it's not the end all-be all. The Denver Broncos don't have to do this, they could reach out another way. Plus the IGB campaign doesn't solve the problem, it's pause button in the big scheme of things.

However, their participation could send a strong message. To be honest, I'm not feeling this approach. I would have liked the Broncos to make their move without the pushing and prodding. That would have been the best way to send the message.

I don't like it either. No one should be forced to do something when their heart's not in it and I'd be shocked if Tebow did this willingly.

Agreed. If you have to petition somebody to force them to speak out against bullying, etc. it means about as much (or less) than if you just paid them to do it. It wouldn't change their true feelings or sincerity about it.
