Marvel, Nobody wants to see The Punisher
3 times isn't a charm, it's a disaster. Punisher: War Zone took in an estimated $1.63 million, according to Variety. It screened in 2,508 theaters as the only major wide opening yesterday.
The second version 2004's did $5.2 million on its opening day and $13.8 million by the weekend. And the 1st one, we will just leave that alone.
This is proof that The Punisher is good on paper and in our secret fantasies, but not on screen. I guess our lust for blood, guns, and man juice isn't what it used to be.

A friend told me last Thanksgiving that he's wearing a sleeveless black shirt with a white skull on it and he didn't get it when I ask him if it's like The Punisher. Yet, he's a white guy in his mid 30s. I wonder how many people actually know who the Punisher is.
Punisher, Wolverine, Lobo and other revenge fantasy/hypermasculine character never appealed to me.
