Sharon Lettman-Hicks is the Executive Director of the National Black Justice Coalition. She was speaking at the 2010 State of Black Gay America Summit last week.
If the entire black community had this mindset, I'd be happy as hell. We are black, first, and gay, second. We, as a black community, should be more accepting of one another because it was a point where we were all we had. Just because I'm gay, must I ostracize myself from the overall black community, and just deal with the gay community? It's not hot. I applaudeSharon Lettman-Hicks for this. Thanks for posting.

The Latino community needs its GLBT hermanos y hermanas to do the same.
