Bronson's Director, Nicolas Winding Refn, wants to Direct Wonder Woman

Nicolas Winding Refn is an upcoming director and writer with a powerful record. He hits the scene with the critically acclaimed, Bronson and later with new hotness called Valhalla Rising.

But what got me paying more attention to him, is his wish to direct a Wonder Woman film.

I hate to say this...but I think Wondie's best bet is a TV gig. For whatever reason it seems like female heroine's get a better shot at success on TVLand rather than MovieTown. I call your attention to Buffy, Xena, Alias, Dollhouse, Birds of Prey, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Touched By an Angel, Tru Calling, etc, etc.

It seems folks are willing to watch female heroes in their own homes but won't go out to the movies or buy the DVD's. I wish I knew why. But maybe Wondy and a number of DC heroes could do well on Television. My first bets would be to do Wonder Woman(your television series idea sounds great!), SuperGirl, and BatGirl. Most popular Marvel heroines aren't stand alone, they are group identified and not as strong on a singular basis. If the series is succesful maybe then they can do an upgrade to a movie. But it seems like the females will need to prove themselves first before they get a big screen break.

What do you think?

i gotta say, i've seen Bronson, and it was great! I hadn't heard about Valhalla Rising, but I'm looking forward. And he'd be good at WW.
