As some of you know, I work with the sharp students at USC. And this class of 2012 are a special group because they are pretty much the next generation. Here's why:
GPS has always been available
Phones have always had caller ID
Tax returns could always be filed online
Beverly Hills 90210 started when most of them where 2 or 3 years old
Jay Leno was the only Tonight Show host they know
Computers are overly available, like microwaves
Also Yahoo reports:
Some entries have been around for the lifetimes of the Class of 2012, including karaoke machines, plastic soft drink bottles, Windows 3.0 and higher and the Nintendo Game Boy.
Other cultural markers are all but unknown to them — IBM typewriters, Roseanne Barr's tortured version of the National Anthem, Pee-wee Herman's "Playhouse" and gas-station attendants who fix flat tires or offer to check under the hood.
Yes folks, after reading this article, I am officially old.
