What absolute piffle. The guy's an alien. The British always say that Doctor Who is quintessentially English - he's not, he's an alien.
It's not being anti- your adopted home to wanted to stand for something bigger. But it *is* very human to seize on a tiny detail (from a comic!) and try to blow it into a media frenzy of a non-event.
Not only that Dale, but Superman simply wants his actions to be interpreted as his actions. Not as an instrument of the American government. Superman is a citizen of the planet Earth and operates to protect it. He doesn't want his appearance at any particular event to be construed as "the American government" sticking its nose in other folks business. So he's going independent. In no way does he hate America or what it stands for. I wish the folks knee jerk reacting to this would read the book before critiquing. I guess that's asking too much.
Their arguments would make sense for Capt. America. Who is an actual employee of the Government and Military. Supes however is not.
Viktor is a small town southern boy living in Los Angeles. You can find him on Twitter, writing about pop culture, politics, and comics. He’s the creator of the graphic novel StrangeLore and currently getting back into screenwriting.

I hate his voice. it sounds like he's chewing his face.
