Interesting news.
According to The Williams Institute, an estimated 1,018,700 (or 3.7 percent) of Black American consider themselves lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), and 34% are raising children.
Some more info:
- The estimated 84,000 Black Americans live in areas where there are higher proportions of Black Americans.
- Most Black gay couples live in Georgia, New York, North Carolina, and Maryland.
- Overall, Black LGBT have higher unemployment rates and are less likely to have a college degree when compared to their non-LGBT counterparts.
- Black LGBT couples are also less likely than their different-sex counterparts to have health insurance coverage for both partners.
