‘Murder, She Wrote’ Reboot with Octavia Spencer? Possibly

This is something.

NBC is looking to possibly reboot Murder, She Wrote. And get this, the Angela Lansbury character will be played by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.

According to Deadline, the series will be very updated and fun.
Described as a light, contemporary procedural in the vein of Bones or Fargo, it follows a hospital administrator and amateur sleuth (Spencer) who self-publishes her first mystery novel. Set in a day where sensational headlines inundate the news, this woman’s avid fascination with true crime leads her to become an active participant in the investigations.
What do you think, it could work.

I think it would if it were like Castle. All these CSI shows take themselves too seriously.

I think she could make nearly anything work, but this sounds like fun, if written properly.

This is one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas. I think it's brilliant.
