I have been watching and reading the flack that Agents of SHIELD has been receiving. Some say that it doesn't have enough heroes, or that it's boring, or everyone's too pretty.
Basically, there's a lot yapping about the series, but honestly, I think it's on point with good storytelling. I actually like the series and believe it's going to continue the greatness. Here are some of my reasons why I'm Team AoS and why the pacing is A-OK.
- Joss Whedon ('nuff said)
- This series is explaining how this team works. We need to see how they come together and work together. This takes time... Or 5 episodes.
- Remember, in the 1st episode, it was mentioned that more things have been popping up since 'New York Incident'. So, what we are seeing is an active investigative team dealing with these matters. They're the ones are sent in first before the Avengers. Also this is the first time these agents are exposed to the Marvel world we know and love.
- Also remember this is kind of the beginning of the Marvel universe, so if we can watch the pieces come together, I'm good.
- A slow burn is a good burn. I think it's great to see how the smaller stories grow into bigger ones. And we can watch for the clues along the way.
- Characters. Each of these characters have something hidden or interesting about them. There are a lot of things we don't know and I like that there could be a traitor in the midst.
- Folks need to get over the fact that it's not a Super Hero series. It's a part of a bigger story, a bigger Marvel Universe.
- The first episodes are establishing what SHIELD is, who are the players, what's at stake, and who do we trust. You want an epic story, these pieces need to be defined and developed in the first arc.
- Check your definition of a MARVEL properity. Comic Book fans, if you're questioning the validity of this series, then you need to look at the history of Marvel Comics. There has been comics that focused on the non-Superhero stories. Plus, they reference the Marvel Universe quite often.
- Also check your expectations. Comparing the writing and stylings of this series to a CW/DC series is... I can't find the words. I believe AoS is trying to give a real feel to their stories. They are trying not to get hokey and CW-ish. Personally, I like that AoS is more for the geeky adults and not for the C-listed fangays and fangirls.

I do not like this show at all, I saw the first ep and it was so predictable.
Not a fan of this mess.
