Washington Judge Protects the Names of the Haters... For Now

In the continuing battle of gay marriages and rights, the Haters in Washington somehow gathered enough signatures (Referendum 71) to repeal the state's new domestic partners law.

So with that in mind, LGBT supporters said alright, but we will make the names public so we all can see the foolishness, but U.S. District Judge Benjamin H. Settle granted a temporary restraining order to hold the releasing the Haters' names.

Judge Settle cited that absence in his written order, and also gave what appears to be a nod to the strength of the referendum backers' case, writing that they "have sufficiently demonstrated a reasonable likelihood of success on the merits" of their First Amendment claim, and "a reasonable likelihood of irreparable harm if the names are released."

Larry Stickney, campaign manager with Protect Marriage Washington, called the judge's decision a good outcome. He and the group's attorney, Stephen Pidgeon, high-fived one another in the courtroom as they read the written order.

"We think it's good news," Stickney said.

A consortium of religious conservative organizations, Protect Marriage Washington on Saturday submitted 138,500 signatures to the secretary of state seeking to force Referendum 71 onto the November ballot.

At least 120,577 of the signatures must be valid for the referendum to qualify.

Tom Lang, director of knowthyneighbor.org, which plans to post the names on that Web site, said he was intensely disappointed Washington failed to defend its own public disclosure law in court.

I am disappointed too, Tom. Hopefully, you will release those names and put those fools on blast. However, we may not have to worry, the signatures maybe be invalid anyways.

President Obama is doing the damn thing by inviting some LGBT leaders to a reception next Monday honoring the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in Greenwich Village.

Obama is expected to speak to the leaders, possibly addressing important LGBT issues. However, there are still some stubborn folks who said that it take more than a meeting to make things right.

I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways. Y'all wanted Obama's attention and now you got it, but now it seems that folks are still clowning.

Goddammit, I swear some of our community members are borderline stoned!

Dumb Article of Day: Queerty's Look, Obama Gave Gay Hate a Shout Out!

Whoever is allowing these articles to surface, should be ashamed of themselves.

Sure, the president only had a one-word mention for the gays during his speech at the Buchenwald Concentration Camp in Germany, but it's more than he had to say about us while speaking to the Middle East in Cairo.

The choice quote: "Also to this day, there are those who perpetuate every form of intolerance — racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, xenophobia, sexism, and more — hatred that degrades its victims and diminishes us all." (Full transcript here.)

Indeed, Western Europe is a much more friendly environment for addressing homophobia than the Middle East, where it's not worth mentioning because it doesn't exist.

Why I'm sticking with Obama through the Gay Rights Drama

So in the news, we are hearing about the pressure Obama getting for gay equality and rights. And if you go over to Queerty, you get the daily (sometimes twice a day) hate-o-drama about Obama’s lack of support.

However, I’m not going to bash him; there’s no need. Unlike some, I think he’s doing a great job trying to balance out the mess from the not-so-messy-but-dusty matters in our country. I understand that changing DADT is not going to happen soon. I understand that he must have allies on both sides to make his argument strong and effective. Without that support, it can be an uphill battle.

Plus, he has put some big initiatives forward. Those initiatives (the budget, the war(s), policy changes and etc.) have to be successful. If they are, more folks will come to his side and if not, they will somewhat distance themselves from him. Obama needs the superpower to make things happen. If his main issues fail, it will be hard for him to push gay rights through the loop.

Also, we have to remember that everybody ain’t feeling the gay love, so Obama needs that support to make it happen. Something else we need to keep in mind is the game of politics. Politics are no joke; this is not a game of UNO. Now, to some of our family members, politics is who gets into the VIP spot.

Naw honey, it’s bigger than that, much bigger.

Politics is a dirt bottom fight; it’s a Beatrix Kiddo vs Vernita Green type of fight. Obama has to wheel and deal in order get certain ideas through Congress. You see how difficult it is to get budget stuff passed, and that’s without the Repubs’ vote. Then add in the fact not all Dems are gay supporters.

Basically it’s going to take some time.

Instead of acting like Veruca Salt about this, we should be thankful that our president cares about us. Instead of complaining that he’s silent about the marriage equality victories, be glad he isn’t trying to create some busted amendment to ban gay marriage. Be happy that he will try to change DADT, be happy that he has appointed gay members in fantastic positions and at least he recognizes gay families. Neither Bush nor Clinton did that much for us.

I’m tired of these complaints about there’s no gays in his cabinet or there’s no gays in the Supreme Court. When did we become so myopic? To be real, the same argument could come from any person of color or gender. Hell, to be really honest I’m surprised that I haven’t heard my people screaming for more representation.

In all, I want the hateration to cease. It’s getting us nowhere and it’s causing a divide within our community. President Obama is not Kal-El, but he’s doing the best he can with what he has in front of him. I have faith in him and I know he will come through. It will take some time, but it will happen. Could we say that a few years ago? Hell no! So we need to rally around our President, call him out, but be understanding, patient and realistic. He got enough haters attacking him, let’s not be in that same crowd.

Retired Military Freaks ask Obama to Keep DADT

Who told them to speak? The retired military fools are hoping President Obama do not repeal DADT.

Their reasons are silly of course, thinking it "would undermine recruiting and retention, impact leadership at all levels, have adverse effects on the willingness of parents who lend their sons and daughters to military service, and eventually break the All-Volunteer Force."
You dummies, we can barely get anyone to sign up, y'all need to take what you can get!

Impact Leadership? A good leader should know how to lead a group! If you have different types of people, you work on their strengths and weaknesses, and help them build their skills. I don't know, maybe I'm relying on my past Hall Director skills, but this should not be a huge issue.

And what is this "willingness of the parents"? Child cheese, a good chunk of the military folks may have a parent or a legal guardian. Also, these kids sign up for the military to either pay for school, have a job or to stay out of trouble. So sometimes 'the parents' have nothing to do with the recruitment.

But enough of my ramblings, please read this letter these fools sent to President Obama.

We are writing to present to you a statement signed personally by more than
1,000 retired Flag and General Officers, representing all branches of the United States
Armed Forces.

Among us are a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, several service
chiefs, a number of combatant command, theater, and other major U.S. and allied force
commanders, together with a Medal of Honor recipient and hundreds of retired flag and
general officers who have led the men and women of our armed services at every
echelon, in both peace and war, past and present.

The statement expresses our strong support for the law that Congress passed in
1993, Section 654, Title 10, U.S.C., which affirms the principle that homosexuality is
incompatible with military service. The law passed with bipartisan, veto-proof
majorities in both houses, and federal courts have upheld it as constitutional several
times.

We believe firmly that this law, which Congress passed to protect good order,
discipline, and morale in the unique environment of the armed forces, deserves
continued support.

Legislation (H. R. 1283) has been introduced in the 111th Congress to repeal the
1993 law. Our experience as military leaders leads us to have great concern about the
impact that repeal of Section 654, Title 10 would have on morale, discipline, unit
cohesion, and overall military readiness. We believe that imposing this burden on our
men and women in uniform would undermine recruiting and retention, impact
leadership at all levels, have adverse effects on the willingness of parents who lend their
sons and daughters to military service, and eventually break the All-Volunteer Force.

Prop 8

I believe there will be a chance for hope. I don't think we are done. There are a lot of factors we have to believe in.

For example, under CA law that alterations of fundamental rights cannot to done with a mere amendment via majority vote of the electorate. This would constitute a "revision" of the Cali-cal Constitution would requires 2/3 vote of both Houses of Legislature AND a 2/3 vote by the electorate or alternatively a State Constitutional Convention called by 2/3 vote of both houses.

It could possibly fail there.

Or Prop. 8 could be considered unconstitutional, like the interracial marriage issue was back in the day. Remember Obama's Surpreme CT picks could take it out like an assassin.

I still have hope that it will fail. I have to believe that once the dust settles, Prop 8 will be a distant memory and we will have the most basic right in our society.

Gay Marriage Haters Unite!

As the elections get closer and closer, the haters are coming out of the cracks! A couple a weeks ago, I wrote about iProtect, the anti-gay marriage site. Well, we have a new site to cringe over.
It's called What is Prop 8? And it's another "geared to the youth" site.



They believe that young people are not informed, so this site will give them the tools, like:

Children in public schools will have to be taught that same-sex marriage is just as good as traditional marriage.

Religious adoption agencies will be challenged

Ministers who preach against same-sex marriages may be sued for hate speech

It will cost you money. Why? This change in the definition of marriage will bring a cascade of lawsuits, including some already lost (e.g., photographers cannot now refuse to photograph gay marriages; doctors cannot now refuse to perform artificial insemination of gays even given other willing doctors). Even if courts eventually find in favor of a defender of traditional marriage (highly improbable given today's activist judges), think of the money – your money – that will be spent on such legal battles.

Gay marriage is a FAKE marriage

Homosexual marriage degrades a time-honored institution

Homosexual marriage is an empty pretense that lacks the fundamental sexual complementariness of male and female. And like all counterfeits, it cheapens and degrades the real thing. The destructive effects may not be immediately apparent, but the cumulative damage is inescapable. The eminent Harvard sociologist, Pitirim Sorokin, analyzed cultures spanning several thousand years on several continents, and found that virtually no society has ceased to regulate sexuality within marriage as traditionally defined, and survived.

Homosexual marriage would radically redefine marriage to include virtually any sexual behavior.

Once marriage is no longer confined to a man and a woman, and the sole criterion becomes the presence of "love" and "mutual commitment," it is impossible to exclude virtually any "relationship" between two or more partners of either sex. To those who scoff at concerns that gay marriage could lead to the acceptance of other harmful and widely-rejected sexual behaviors, it should be pointed out that until very recent times the very suggestion that two women or two men could "marry" would have been greeted with scorn. The movement to redefine marriage has already found full expression in what is variously called "polyfidelity" or "polyamory," which seeks to replace traditional marriage with a bewildering array of sexual combinations among various groups of individuals.

Homosexual marriage is not a civil rights issue

Defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman would not deny homosexuals the basic civil rights accorded other citizens. Nowhere in the Bill of Rights or in any legislation proceeding from it are homosexuals excluded from the rights enjoyed by all

citizens--including the right to marry. However, no citizen has the unrestricted right to marry whomever they want. A person cannot marry a child, a close blood relative, two or more spouses, or the husband or wife of another person. Such restrictions are based upon the accumulated wisdom not only of Western civilization but also of societies and cultures around the world for millennia.

If victorious, the homosexual agenda will lead to the persecution of those who object on moral or religious grounds

If homosexual marriage becomes the law of the land, then children in public schools will be taught that homosexuality is a normative lifestyle, and that gay households are just another "variant" style of family. Those who object may find themselves on the wrong side of the law. Unbelievable? This Orwellian situation has occurred in Massachusetts , which legalized homosexual marriage in 2004. In April 2005, David Parker, the parent of a six-year-old boy, protested to the Lexington elementary school after his son was taught about homosexual "families" in his kindergarten class.

At a scheduled meeting at the school, when Parker refused to back down from his request that the school honor the Massachusetts parental notification statute, he was arrested for "trespassing," handcuffed, and put in jail overnight. The next morning Parker was led handcuffed into court for his arraignment, and over the next several months endured two subsequent court appearances before the school district backed down and decided to drop all charges against him. In 2007, Parker's lawsuit against the Lexington school officials was dismissed by a federal judge who refused to uphold his civil rights and to enforce the Massachusetts parental notification statute. Parker's shocking story will become commonplace in a society that forces the acceptance of homosexual marriage as normative.
