Question of the Day

What is a Fierce Advocate? Or...What does that mean?

We are all over the place with this definition.

Would love to hear you thoughts

It is a buzzword...it sounds great. Fierce as in they will die for it. Makes for great noise....

Doesn't advocate means a person who will say things in favor of something but will not put any action into it?

I think it means nothing more than what Obama intended it to mean when he applied the label to himself...he'll be a strong and active advocate for the gay community. He should have never used the term when describing himself...it's his "mission accomplished" moment to the GLBT community. It will haunt him until he actually does something to earn the title.

Rick Warren, lending his name to the Prop 8 campaign by saying several times that a marriage is between a man and a woman, refusing to stop the discharges under DADT, the DOMA brief, his inaction ENDA and Matthew Shepard Act...passing it off to congress without leading the issue and THEN giving it to congress...he's been very weak. Yet he's shown that he can handle other just as "hot" issues while handling the wars and the economy.

He should have never used the term.

Interesting choice of graphic by the way. An image used by the Prop 8/anti-gay folks with great results. He's been a better "fierce advocate" for them than he has been for us.
