GLAAD ain't feeling Bruno

Folks at GLAAD are not fans of Bruno.

The new president, Jarrett Barrios said
"the movie was a well-intentioned series of sketches _ some hit the mark and some hit the gay community pretty hard and reinforce some damaging, hurtful stereotypes."

There were some scenes that were "special" like, the hot scene with an explicit sex act and the other sex acts that were quite interesting.

Barrios also said
"Scenes like that don't help America understand the hundreds of thousands of gay families who get up every day, do the carpool then rush home to make dinner and be with their children.

Similarly, the movie's mock marriage scene "doesn't help Americans understand the lives of gay couples who are denied the rights and protections of marriage in 43 states.

The movie is clearly satire and comedy. I'm not sure if folks take Bruno that seriously, however it is an interesting look at the ugly parts of our country.

But you see, it's just those stereotypes that many in the straight community feed upon to keep us down, and out of marriage, and into DADT and DOMA and gay bashing and so on.
Sure, smart open-minded people will get the joke and the satire, but they aren't the ones that worry me.

There's a fun read on here about the psychology on why we like or dislike Bruno. http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/2009/07/09/2009-07-09_why_we_love_or_hate_sasha_baron_cohens_character_in_new_movie.html

It looks fun but I guess I'll wait for the DVD.

Oh shit the f**k up GLAAD!

Either your mind is open or it's not. People are ignorant and hateful, or they're not. Bruno is joyous rubbish, it's not its job to preach to the unconverted.

And thanks to YvesPaul for the link!

You know that was directed at you, Wonder Man, right?

Sorry about that

I think GLAAD need to stop whining about EVERYTHING. I think it's a very clever look at the way people react to stereotypical views of homosexuality, much like Borat did with the view of a foreigner. There's always going to be people who are too dumb to get it, it's just something we'll always live with.
