The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati has revived a damages lawsuit against her. Here's more:

A federal appeals court on Tuesday revived a damages lawsuit against Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who in 2015 refused to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples because it conflicted with her Christian beliefs.

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati said a lower court judge erred in finding that damages claims by David Ermold and David Moore became moot, after a new state law last July excused clerks like Davis, from Rowan County, from having to sign marriage license forms.

While the couple eventually did get a license, a three-judge appeals court panel said they could sue over Davis’ initial refusal to grant one, after the U.S. Supreme Court in June 2015 said the Constitution guaranteed a right to same-sex marriage.

I hope they sue her for everything she's got!

She violated the Kentucky Open Records Act by refusing to provide documents related to her legal battle last year against same-sex marriage.

The state Office of the Attorney General dropped this bomb yesterday, leaving Kim in a heap of trouble:

The Campaign for Accountability, a Washington nonprofit that says it works “to expose misconduct and malfeasance in public life,” emailed Davis a records request on March 1 for retainer agreements and attorney-client engagement agreements between her and Liberty Counsel, the religious advocacy group that represented her after she was sued for refusing to issue marriage licenses.

Anne Weismann, the Campaign for Accountability’s executive director, said Tuesday that she wants to learn more about Liberty Counsel, which inserted itself into debates over same-sex marriage and transgender bathroom use in several states by volunteering to represent public officials.

Responding for Davis, Liberty Counsel refused to comply with the records request. Among the legal exemptions it cited, Liberty Counsel said the documents requested are preliminary and therefore do not have to be disclosed, and they are private rather than public.

The Campaign for Accountability appealed to the attorney general, whose rulings on the Open Records Act carry the weight of law in Kentucky.

The attorney general’s office asked Liberty Counsel in May for permission to privately review the documents so it could decide whether the exemptions cited are relevant. However, Liberty Counsel refused to produce most of the documents even for a private review, violating the Open Records Act, the attorney general’s office said.

The Family Research Council arranged for Kim Davis and Mat Staver to sour the space during President Obama's address. A real guest, Jim Obergefell, the plaintiff in the court case that led the Supreme Court to marriage equality will be there too. He will sit in the First Lady's box.

In Kentucky: Gov. Matt Bevin removes names of clerks from Marriage Licenses

Tea Party fave and Kentucky's curse Gov. Matt Bevin has allowed county clerks to remove their names from marriage licenses in order to protect their religious beliefs.

He has issued an executive order directing the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to issue the revised marriage license forms to all county clerks. I guess in January this mess will begin.

Mat Staver wants Kim Davis to be TIME's Person Of The Year

Liberty Counsel's Mat Staver really wants Kim Davis to be TIME’s Person of the Year. In their email, Mat writes:

Kim Davis became the first Christian in America jailed as a result of the Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex "marriage."

She joins a long list of people who were imprisoned for their conscience. People who today we admire like Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Jan Huss, John Bunyan, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and others like them. Each had their own cause, but they all shared the same resolve not to violate their consciences.

Kim adhered to Kentucky law while standing for her First Amendment right to religious liberty and freedom of conscience. Liberty Counsel represented Kim throughout her ordeal.

According to the magazine, TIME editors will choose a winner with the announcement on December 9. But leading to the selection, they are asking readers to "have their say," in a face-off poll.

The Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Thursday denied her latest request for a reprieve. Davis stopped issuing marriage licenses after the U.S. Supreme Court effectively legalized gay marriage in June. Four couples sued her, and U.S. District Judge David Bunning then ordered her to issue the licenses. He later clarified his order to include all couples, not just the four who filed suit. Davis’ attorneys have appealed that expanded order several times, arguing that the mandate to issue licenses should apply only to the four couples who filed suit. They received licenses during Davis’ five-day stint in jail for defying the court’s order. The appeals court again rejected Davis’ request Thursday.

In Pottstown, Pennsylvania Mayor Sharon Valentine-Thomas plans on running for the Montgomery County Register of Wills. Okay, that's fine... until Sharon said she will refuse to issue any marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Sharon said:

“I am opposed to gay marriages on religious grounds, and my conscience will not allow me to sign off on marriage certificates for gay couples. People should not have to violate their conscience to run or to serve. I am not an obstructionist and will not force my values on others.”

Girl, I hope you've been paying attention. Kim Davis isn't popular in the country. Her image is a joke and she will go down in history as a bigot.

In Kentucky: Hate Group will meet with Gov. Beshear over Kim Davis

So the Family Foundation of Kentucky are going to Frankfort to speak, no, demand Gov. Beshear to give Kim Davis a pass on her job duties.

This hate group, accompanied with Rev. Randy Smith, plan to meet with the Governor at 10am, so they have already met (for us West Coast folks). I would love to hear if this meeting actually happened and if the Governor shut the door in their faces.

BTW, Kim Davis has a strong negative rating in this country, so I really don't see any accommodations heading her way.

Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich tells CBS 2 that this whole Kim Davis stuff is not what it seems. He says that the Pope didn't request to see Kim. In fact he was blindsided. Some say it was orchestrated by the Pope’s representative, Carlo Maria Vigano.

A close advisor to Pope Francis tweeted that the Pope was, in his words, “exploited” by those who set up what the CBS 2 source says was a “meeting that never should have taken place.” Some call it an attempt by highly placed church leaders in the U.S. to diminish the impact of the Pope’s visit. Archbishop Cupich tried to downplay both the meeting and its significance. “It is his way of saying that walls of communication need to come down. Meeting with someone is not an endorsement of that person’s position,” Cupich said.
