My Review: "Fright Night"

Movie remakes are usually messy or unnecessary. Someone in the industry feels it's an easier risk to take rather than make something new. However, "Fright Night" hit me a little differently. While it was unnecessary remake; it was a good, solid movie.

Actually, this movie didn't have to be remade; it was a stand alone film. In fact, it could been called "The Neighbor" or something.

Anywho, here's my vague review of the flick.
  • The casting choices were good and believable.
  • The movie moved quickly and it was easy to catch on.
  • I didn't think of 'teens' as High School students, maybe they should been college kids.
  • Colin was a great Jerry. Sexy and very deadly.
  • Christopher Mintz-Plasse did a great job as Evil Ed, but the original was and always will be the better one (I heart Stephen Geoffreys).
  • The look of the vampires was good; a nice take from the original Vamp Amy.
  • The new Charlie fit the part. Anton Yelchin did a great job with his skinny self.
  • The film went a different direction in several parts, which was nice and refreshing.
  • David Tennant stole the show. I totally LOVED him as Peter Vincent.
  • There's no Billy Cole.

  •  One of the original cast members makes an appearance.
  • The story was solid. Thank you Marti!
In all, I liked it and it was fun. Go and see it.

New Pics: 'Fright Night' remake

Here are new pics from the upcoming remake of 'Fright Night'. I hope this is good. I LOVE the original and the characters were the best group of actors. I'm wishing this film luck.

Exciting Fright Night Casting: Christopher Mintz-Plasse and David Tennant joins the group!

Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad's McLovin) was been given an iconic role.

He will be Evil Ed, the character Stephen Geoffreys made legendary.

And David Tennant (Doctor Who) will be Peter Vincent, the Great Vampire Killer!

I'll tell you, this is a great cast so far!

Colin Farrell and Toni Collette joins Fright Night

Okay, maybe there's some hope for this remake.

Colin Farrell and Toni Collette will join the cast! Colin will be the evil and hot vampire, Jerry Dandrige. Toni will be Charlie's mom.

The two join Anton Yelchin in DreamWorks' new version, which sticks to the original concept of a teen (Yelchin) being convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, though no one will believe him.

Farrell has the plum role of the vampire, named Jerry, who on the surface appears to be a cool guy but is really preying on the neighborhood. Chris Sarandon originated the role.

Collette is Yelchin's mom, who at first disapproves of the new arrival but changes her attitude when she meets the magnetic man and -- surprise -- doesn't believe her son when he tries to tell her Jerry is a vampire. Craig Gillespie is directing.

Things are looking good for this flick. However, they have to get Stephen Geoffreys to make a cameo in the movie.

Charley Brewster has been cast in the Fright Night remake

Charley Brewster, our favorite teen (male) vampire slayer has been cast in the classic remake.

Anton Yelchin, from Star Trek, will play our oddly hero.
I think it's a good choice.

The Director of the Fright Night Remake is...

I'm not feeling this, but who knows, y'know?

According to many Horror sources, Craig Gillespie could be the director of 'Charlie and the Vampire next door'. Craig is not new to the scene. He's has directed "Lars and the Real Girl and "Mr. Woodcock". He also served as the as director and producer of "The United States of Tara".

Now as y'all know, I don't like remakes too much. But I'm only in this because Marti Noxon, (from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is writing the script. I just hope they don't f**k it up.

Great Hera! They are Remaking Fright Night!

I feel betrayed!

They are remaking Fright Night and using a noted "Buffy" scribe.
"Mad Men" writer-producer Marti Noxon has been hired to pen DreamWorks Studios' revamp of the 1985 horror comedy "Fright Night." Before her work on AMC's "Mad Men," Noxon was a writer-producer on the bloodsucker series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," so fangs and stakes are in her blood.

Producers Michael De Luca, Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig set up the "Fright" project in May. DreamWorks executive Mark Sourian is overseeing for the studio.

Marti, why? This is wrong! Fright Night is a classic! The writer and director, Tom Holland vetoed this. I was at the L.A. screening of FN when he said a remake would be bad!

My heart is broken!

A Fright Night remake? Crom!!!!

And that's not a happy cry.

Great Hera! Now there is a possibility for a Fright Night remake. Are they smoking cheap crack? You can’t remake Fright Night, it is a classic, it’s perfect the way it is! I don’t know about y’all, but the horror remakes have been a mess. There’s nothing new or truly exciting about any of them and they love to cast the “90210” look-alikes in the roles.

I beg of them to NOT do this. Why would this studio want to remake this movie? And are we over saturated with vampires already?

We have Twilight’s mess, True Blood, the straight to DVD flicks, CW’s future cancellation, The Vampire Diaries, and the horrific Underworld series. The only vampire event that should come out is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but back to the matter at hand.

Fright Night should not be remade. The characters are great, the actors were superb and the story was simple and fun. If this movie is remade, then we will have some Megan Fox-like girl playing Amy, someone from Gossip Girl boy as Charlie, and unknown Emo kid for Evil Ed.

Then Christopher Sarandon’s role…Can’t be done! He owns that character; I can’t imagine someone else in this role and finally Peter Vincent…Again, I can’t see anyone doing this role as well as Roddy McDowall. If this has to be done then continue the story; bring back Charlie and Amy and maybe their kid who has taken a high responsibility in demon hunting. Bring back Evil Ed and his minions, in other words, MAKE A NEW STORY!

These remakes gives me gas!

My top 5 Vampire movies

To be real, I'm not a huge vampire fan. I love witches, demons, and certain monsters but vamps...not my fave.

Buffy made me appreciate them and Twilight made me hate any outside notion of vampires. However, there are a few Vampire movies I will always love.

Vamp

Not the best movie, but it was fun. Grace Jones played her part well and the story wasn't that bad.

Lost Boys

David...nuff said

Fright Night

This movie is one the best vampire movie ever. It's real, cute, and has good acting. You're so cool, Brewster!

Let The Right One In

This is one of the best. If you haven't seen it, please do.

Near Dark

This movie made me fear vampires. They were not sexy, glamorous or possibly gay. They were murderers and deadly. I personally like vampires to be...vampires.

So that's my list.
