In India: Homosexuality become illegal... Again
A huge setback in India.
Their Supreme Court has reversed the 2009 lower court decision to decriminalize homosexuality. Now, it's a crime to be gay! Those judges said only lawmakers and not the courts can change the law.
Section 377, a 153-year-old colonial law, that says a gay relationship is an "unnatural offense" and punishable with a 10-year jail term. According to the courts, the law has been rarely used to prosecute anyone for consensual sex, however it has been used by the police to harass the LGBT community.
India's LGBT community was devastated. Many of them were crying and holding each other outside of the court room.
This is a dark and sad day in India.
