Election Night: Big for DEMS, PROS and the GAYS

LaWana Mayfield
Last night was big for us in so many ways! Let me tell you about them.

In the LGBT world:
LaWana Mayfield became the 1st openly gay elected official in Charlotte, N.C., City Council.

Bruce Harris became the 1st openly gay Black Republican mayor in New Jersey.

Mary Doran, openly gay, was elected to the School Board in St. Paul, Minn.

Pedro Segarra, openly gay kept his post as mayor of Hartford, Conn.

Chris Seelbach, openly gay, won a seat in the Cincinnati, Ohio City Council.

Caitlin Copple, lesbian, won her race for the Missoula, Montana City Council.

DEMS kept the majority in the Iowa senate, defeating NOM's broke ass efforts to push Cindy Golding in.

Arizona's Anti-Immigration guru, State Sen. Russell Pearce was kicked out in the recall race

Ohio voters rejected Issue 2, an anti-union bill.

In Mississippi, voters rejected the stupid 'personhood' amendment

Further proof, if needed, that the GOP is headed for a fall.

This is great news heading into 2012. Now the people who voted yesterday have to remain engaged enough to care to do the same thing next November.
