Whitney Houston and Jordan Sparks gear up for a 'Sparkle' Remake

A 'Sparkle' remake has been in the works for years, but it seems that it's actually happening.

Variety reports that Whitney and Jordan Sparks are in negotiations for the remake:
Sony Pictures is rounding up a sparkling cast for its remake of the 1976 music-themed pic "Sparkle": Whitney Houston is in negotiations to join "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks and Mike Epps in the film, which Salim Akil is directing from a script by Mara Brock Akil.
Debra Martin Chase, TD Jakes and Curtis Wallace are producing along with the Akils, while Houston will exec produce with Howard Rosenman and Gaylyn Fraiche.
TriStar Pictures will distribute the film in association with Stage 6 Films. Production is skedded to start next month.
Original pic followed three sisters who begin singing in their church choir in Harlem in the late 1950s and go on to become a successful girl group. Their sudden rise unravels their personal lives.Remake will be set in 1968 Detroit during the rise of Motown.
Jordan will be Sparkle. Whitney will probably be the mother.

Whitney should be able to do this movie. Should she get sick they can stop production for a week and then start again.

Um, they already did this.

It was called "Dreamgirls".

Sparkle came before Dream Girls!
Anyway, I don't want this. The only person who could be Sparkle, for me, was Aaliyah (aside from Irene Cara).

I saw this movie back in 70's and Lonette Mckee was a winner. This is way different from DG.

No, No, No.

Whitney needs to take time off and get well. Her voice is shot. Jordin is cute, but can she carry this movie?

I'm tired of remakes. Do something original.
