A Student gets Suspended for saying Homosexuality Is Wrong

This student just learned that you don't have to say anything. Dakota Ary just had to say that he's a Christian and Homomsexuality is wrong.

Well, he got suspended from school for that:

Because he is an Honor Student doesn't make him smart. Dakota has a lot to learn.

I frequently talk to a senior in High School and it's ridiculous what kids get suspended for now a days.

I take issue with this as well. It feeds into the whole idea that the left and political correctness are just as dictatorial and judgemental as some of the things the right wing does. Our ability to have free speech is what has allowed us to slowly but surely erode the lies believed about us and our communities over the past years. It hardly seems right to then limit the free speech of someone else because they disagree with what we feel is true. Change can only come through dialogue and communication, so stifling the voice of anyone involved in the conversation would seem to contradict potential progress. I don't want us to become our enemies. We know how suppression feels.

Plus, he believes what he has been taught, not necessarily what he has experienced. Life and exposure could easily bring him into conflict with those beliefs. But if he's afraid to ever voice dissent for fear of repercussion, how can he ever have his views challenged?
