I thought she died?
Yes, she did die. However, about half of the new season was already in the can. The writers did script changes and thus, there'll be one last, albeit truncated season of Elisabeth Sladen's SJS.
I grew up on Dr. Who. Still a fan. She was the best companion, hands down. She will be missed.
From what I read she was ill filming the last season but was a real trooper, not even letting the other young cast members know of her grave condition.
RIP Sarah. You are traveling to the stars for real now.
