Yes, these are real!
Here's the scoop:
A few moments ago, Nike officially unveiled the Nike Air Mag AKA “Marty McFly” shoe. As stated earlier, Nike announced that 1500 pairs of this shoe will be auctioned on eBay, nikemag.eBay.com, with all net proceeds going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The auction will begin tonight at 8:30PM PST and end on September 18 (150 pairs will be posted on eBay per day for 10 days). The Nike Air Mag has been anticipated for the longest as it first showed its face in the 1989 2015 released film Back to the Future.
Leading up to the release of the Nike Air Mag, a 50 million match grant was given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation by Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki; they will match all donations to the foundation, up to 50 million dollars, through the end of 2012.

I admit I wasn't sure what the big deal was when I saw this was a trending topic yesterday. But now that I see it's to raise funds (and awareness) for a worthy cause, I think it's pretty cool.
