Marvel Studios Next Project: Black Panther

Black Panther is in development at Marvel Studios. Collider has the scoop:
Marvel Studios has hired Mark Bailey to pen the script for its long-gestating Black Panther film.  While Bailey is certainly not an obvious choice, his writing background on HBO documentaries such as Pandemic: Facing AIDS and the Emmy-award-winning Ghosts of Abu Ghraib suggests that he may be capable of making a hard-hitting adaptation of the first mainstream African-American comic book hero.

In addition to Black Panther, Bailey has also adapted the Monte Reel novel The Last of the Tribe: The Epic Quest to Save a Lone Man in the Amazon for which Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) is attached to direct.
This will be interesting, especially the sexy guy who will play King T'Challa.

It doesn't bode well when they are already messing things up in the description. Black Panther isn't African American. He's an African King, he wasn't born in nor is he a citizen of the United States. He's a ruler of an African NATION. The casting should reflect that as well as the accent.

But I have high hopes. Hopefully they get this right!!! I hope that it does as well as Blade. And no Wesley should NOT be Black Panther. :)
