A "Gay" version of "The Big Bang Theory" is comingto Australia

A new, interesting show is coming to Australia. It's called, Outland and it's about gay geeks.
Picture Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory. Now imagine them making out. That wasn't so hard -- after all, you've been doing it for years.

But now (in a sense) that will become reality in Australia where the ABC network is filming six episodes of Outland. In this sitcom, a group of queer pals who bond over their love of all things sci-fi will make like the gang of Friends, but with less coffee and more discussion of "Whose your favorite Robin?"

Anyone who has been to a Comic-Con knows you can find plenty of gay and lesbian fans milling about, so this is a natural twist, albeit an unexpected and welcome one. The relatively unknown cast includes singer Christine Anu (Moulin Rouge!, The Matrix Reloaded), Ben Gerrard (who hasn't done much more than the obligatory stint on soap Hollyoaks), Paul Ireland, Adam Richard (who apparently co-wrote the short the TV show is based on and plays the promisingly named "Fab"), and Toby Truslove (who has a great name in real life).

The show debuts around summer 2011.
I hope it works out and I hope we (America) don't try to remake here and screw it up.
