Starting sophomore basketball player at UMass Amherst, Derrick Gordon has come out as Gay. I think he's the first Division I NCAA basketball player to do this, which is fantastic!

The poor guy went through a lot of emotion hurtles, but eventually made it through. Watch the video about Derrick.

Interesting Quote: College football defensive end Mitch Eby

"Being gay may be something that defines me, but it does not limit me. It is such a small part of who I am. I am the same person you all know, no different than before. I'm still the kid that is obsessed with pretty much anything having to do with sports, I'm still the kid that some of you love to call stupid nicknames like ‘mom' and ‘hot dog,' and I'm still someone who will continue to go out there every day and push myself and push my teammates to be the best football team around. I am your teammate, I am your classmate and I am your brother. And I know that my brothers will continue to stand by my side, no matter what."

GAME OF THRONES Actor Kristian Nairn Comes Out

Good news, today.

Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor on Game of Thrones, came out!

In his interview with the Winter Is Coming, a "GOT" fan site, Kristian talked his following:
Well, in all honesty, when you talk about “the gay community,” you are talking about MY community, haha. I AM aware of it yeah, and I think it’s really lovely. There’s not a day that I don’t get a few messages, but 99% or more are super sweet and nothing smutty at all! Again, it’s a privilege, and I really mean that. I’ve never hidden my sexuality from anyone, my whole life in fact, and I’ve been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, cos it’s not something you just blurt out. I’ve tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!
Cool, welcoming to the family!

The Boyfriend of Conner Mertens comes Out

After Willamette University kicker Conner Mertens came out, things seem to fall into place. His team was cool with it and family as well. That reception helped his boyfriend, Chandler Whitney follow suit.

He came out to his Walla Walla Community College baseball team, once he saw how welcoming folks were about Conner.

He told Outsports:
"I'd been planning to do it at some point anyway and seeing the reaction to Conner's story calmed me down."
Cool, guys!

An Active College Football Player comes Out

Willamette University Football player, Conner Mertens came out as bisexual to his team and now, the world. He hopes to inspire other LGBT athletes to come out and be true to themselves.

Outsports has his whole story, but I think he is the first out college football player ever. Some folks may say that his school isn't as big as Florida's or my school (USC), but still, what Conner did is amazing.

Congrats, Conner.

GMA Host Robin Roberts is very Grateful for Her Longtime Girlfriend

In a Facebook post, GMA Host Robin Roberts looks back at her life a year ago, and gives thanks to her longtime girlfriend, Amber.

Flashback 12/29/12....Hard to believe this was 1 year ago today..when I reached a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant...and KJ was finally allowed to come back home.

Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present."

At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude.

I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health.

I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life.

I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.

I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold.

On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too.

Wishing you a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Peace, love, and blessings to all..XO

Meet Derek Schell, The first openly gay NCAA Division II basketball player

Well, another basketball player comes out.

22 year-old Derek Schell is a senior guard for Division II Hillsdale College. He decided to come out so he can live in the truth and not be silenced.

In his letter, he wrote:
The beginning of my sophomore year of college, the only way I felt comfortably being myself was online. I met the person that I care for most in this world, my boyfriend Kevin. We have been together for two years. I began to realize that my life was my own. There was no more time for living in the hopes of pleasing others and living up to any one person’s or any societal expectation. I had to find a balance between helping and caring for others and making my happiness a priority. I came out as gay to all my closest friends because I wanted to see who was really a true friend to me. There was nothing wrong with me. I didn’t want to be someone else’s idea of normal. To me, normal is a boring, stereotypical mold that encourages conformity and trying to fit in. I just wanted to be accepted.
Welcome, Derek.
