Barney Frank on what’s the LGBT movement missing right now
In the latest GA Voice, Barney Frank talked about several things, but this was his view on what's missing from the LGBT movement:
I’ve been in a lifelong battle with many people in the community over the importance of participating in politics. The notion that registering to vote and lobbying elected officials and putting pressure on them, somehow that’s contrasted with militant activity like demonstrating and marching. The trouble with the demonstrating and the marches is, unless they’re very carefully targeted, they’re ineffective and in some cases worse than that because people think they’ve accomplished something by showing up at a parade. Parades are fine, have fun, but they’re not a political instrument most of the time.Interesting.
Combined with the fact that many on the left, where many of our people think, ‘Oh politics isn’t worth anything and they don’t pay attention to us.’ Well they do. The counterexample I give people is, you want a militant organization that is successful, I would cite the National Rifle Association. When’s the last time you saw the National Rifle Association have a march or a demonstration? They don’t. What they do is focus intensively on getting their members to write or call or go see every member of Congress and to vote in primaries. So I think it’s gotten better but people in the LGBT community still undervalue militant political participation as if that was somehow ineffective.
The other is this. I know people say to me, ‘Well, we should be bipartisan.’ I wish there was bipartisanship, but pretending that it is what it isn’t doesn’t help. And the fact is there’s no issue in America today where the gap between the political parties is greater than on LGBT rights. The Democrats have become 90-plus percent supportive, with the Republicans overwhelmingly opposed on the whole range of issues. The fact is the last remaining item on the national agenda is an inclusive anti-discrimination act and it will not happen until and unless the Democrats have the House, the Senate and the presidency.

Superman and Wonder Woman T-Shirt reeks of Dudebro Antics
I saw this the other day and cringed!
How could DC Comics allow a shirt like this to be made?
Score? Superman done it again?
And look how Wonder Woman is posed! Superman looks like a dudebro on this T-shirt. Seriously, DC or rather WB, did y'all think about the message this shirt is sending?
This is such an insult to Wonder Woman and everything she represents. She is more than a conquest! I can't believe they allowed this shirt to go out!
Fave Film: Big Trouble in Little China
Remember when Hollywood took risk in their movie making?
This film was so creative and out there. As a kid, I loved the crazy/mystic/mayhem this movie was. Big Trouble in Little China was one few films that had it all, and Kurt Russell was so hot in this film!
If haven't seen this movie, please do with friends or alone. It's a good action flick, full of supernatural flare, fighting and some romance... And did I mention the sexy Kurt Russell?
Do you buy expensive Underwear?
In West Hollywood, you are reminded that sexy underwear is a must. They are tight, cut in special places and EXPENSIVE! Forget paying $15 for a pack of 6, some of these boxer briefs are $20 and up!
Seriously $20 for underwear? Not for me, but how about you? Is it worth it?
Eric Holder believes the Country is ready to move forward with Marriage Equality
In an interview with NBC's Pete Williams, Attorney General Eric Holder said that the country is ready for marriage equality.
Eric stated:
Yeah, I think the country is ready for that. I think all the polls certainly show that. The reactions to the continuing number of court cases that have found same-sex marriage to be constitutionally mandated -- the polls have shown that the American people, I think, are prepared to accept that. Now this has been a sea change. This is something that has happened, I think, relatively quickly. Part of it is generational. I talk to my kids, who seem, no problems with this, no issues with this at all. But I think it's more than a generational change. I think that people who know folks who are gay, who are lesbian, and who are their friends, their coworkers, they see the moral side to this. Um, it's a civil-rights issue. From my perspective, it is the civil-rights issue of our day -- gay and lesbian equality."I believe he's right!

The DOJ will Ask Supreme Court to Uphold Marriage Equality
Big news on the gay marriage front.
Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Justice Department will ask the Supreme Court to uphold marriage equality for the rest of the country.
HRC blog reports:
"Once again, Attorney General Eric Holder and the Obama Administration have stood up for marriage equality at a critical moment," said HRC President Chad Griffin. "As the nine justices of the U.S. Supreme Court gather on Monday to evaluate several marriage equality cases for full hearing, I hope they consider two facts—that the nation is ready for marriage equality, and that there are painful consequences to inaction. Committed and loving gay and lesbian couples can't afford to wait any longer. It's time to settle this constitutional question, once and for all."This is getting deep, folks. This Monday, SCOTUS will possibly hear the marriage equality cases from the states of Utah, Oklahoma, Virginia, Indiana and Wisconsin.
Will Monday be the DAY?
The Gay Scene everyone is talking about from How To Get Away with Murder
Okay, it's another post about HTGAWM, but I have to talk about that gay scene! Do you see it? How did ABC get a away with that?
If you did see it, I got it here for you
Creator Peter Nowalk explains to E! News:
If you did see it, I got it here for you
Creator Peter Nowalk explains to E! News:
And you can expect a lot more same-sex sex and same-sex romance as the series continues because, as Nowalk puts it, "It's part of life." "I knew I wanted to push the envelope, especially with the gay sex," Nowalk explained to me. "And to me, writing the gay characterization and writing some real gay sex into a network show is to right the wrong of all of the straight sex that you see on TV. Because I didn't see that growing up, and I feel like the more people get used to two men kissing, the less weird it will be for people. I just feel like it's a lack of vision that you don't see it on TV, but ABC has never had a note about any of the weird stuff in the show, so I'm gonna keep it going."Interesting, I can't wait to see more!
Nowalk reveals that Connor (Jack Falahee), the gay character, is definitely going to have a romance in the first season, right off the bat, starting with the second episode. It was in important to show a gay person as a full-fledged character."
Interesting Quote: Rick Wiles
“This Ebola epidemic could become a global pandemic and that’s another name for plague. It may be the great attitude adjustment that I believe is coming. Ebola could solve America’s problems with atheism, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, pornography, and abortion.”

People Magazine post a Racist Tweet about Viola Davis
So this happened...
During the season premier of "How To Get Away With Murder," People Magazine tweeted this
I know, right?
Seriously, Viola Davis is more than this character. Anywho, folks went after People and quickly, the tweet was gone. This is just another example of interns at work.

Chris Johnson for American Decency Association says Gays deserve the Death Penalty
I can't with this Chris. In his blog post on the American Decency yesterday, he believes we deserve Death.
"We aren't just defending marriage - whether we call it natural marriage or traditional marriage or Biblical marriage - because it's the way we've always done things. We have a much more firm foundation than tradition. We affirm marriage in the way that God himself intended it. The church is not a Christian congress or Supreme Court. The laws of God cannot be overruled or deemed unconstitutional. Of course, we ALL break those laws and being a homosexual doesn't make a man a sinner any more or less than being a gossip. Both crimes deserve the death penalty, and only the one who relies on the righteousness of Christ can escape it."source

The Philly Gay Bashers are Free on Bail
The three gay attackers who assaulted a gay couple in Center City, have been released on bail.
Philip Williams, Kathryn Knott and Kevin Harrigan left the police department around 3:30 this morning.
The two guys' bail was set at $75,000, while Kathryn's bail was posted as $50,000. They are all charged with criminal conspiracy and two counts each of aggravated and simple assault, and reckless endangerment.
No trail date set at this time, so you know, there's more to come.
Norman Reedus said that Walking Dead's Daryl is 'Prison Gay'
Norman Reedus said that his character, Daryl, maybe be "Prison Gay" in The Walking Dead.
In a GQ Magazine interview, Norman said:
“I remember [talking to] Frank Darabont, after the first season – we were at a party in LA. He said, ‘I’ve got an idea for Daryl. He’s gay. Would you be interested in that?’ I was like, ‘Let me hear you out.’ He said, ‘Well, he’s prison gay. Like, you’ll catch him looking at a member of the same sex, but if you mention it to him, he’ll just stab you and be like, What the fuck? He will never admit it.’ I was like, ‘That’ll blow minds – let’s do that.' And he said, 'I knew I hired you for a reason.' "Prison Gay... I think we need to see that on the screen with several scenes.
White House says Attorney General Eric Holder is Resigning
Eric has been with the Obama Administration for 6 years. Hopefully, he will stay until the major civil cases are done or at least, close to being done. This is sad to hear, because Eric has been a force for civil rights. He has played a major role in killing DOMA and protecting the voter rights act.
He will be greatly missed and I wish he would stay, but I'm sure he has his reasons.
Sad news to wake up to.
Happy Birthday to Christopher Reeve
When I first saw Christopher as Superman, I was in love. To me, he will always be the Man of Steel.
He would've been 62 today.

3 Charged for Attacking Gay Couple in Center City, One of them is a Police Chief's Daughter
Remember that group of folks that attacked two gay guys in Center City/Philly? Well, 3 of them surrendered themselves in today.
However, here's the interesting part. The woman involved in the attack is the daughter of a local police chief! Her name is Kathryn Knott and she lives in Chalfont. This place is an upscale neighborhood, so you see where this is going. Rich White girl who's looking for a reason to be.
Anywho, Miss Girl's father is Bucks County Police Chief Karl Knott. None of the family talked to the news, but the neighbors did. According to them, they were not surprised about Kathryn. Now, I'm not going to post her tweets from 2012. I'm going to judge her for her recent foolishness. I feel that the other articles are overly focusing on her, so I hoping we get more of the other guys.
They are 24-year-old Philip Williams and 26-year-old Kevin Harrigan.
I'm sure there's more to come on these two as well.

In Michigan: A Group of Black Pastors rally against the NAACP and Marriage Equality
In today's foolishness... A group of Black pastors try to invoke MLK's beliefs in their hate speech on marriage equality.
Lead by Minister Stacy Swimp (yes, that hideous name), the group will file legal briefs in more than 80 court cases involving lawsuits to legalize gay marriage in Michigan. This group also threw shade at the NAACP for supporting marriage equality.

Interesting Quote: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Who do you think President Obama could appoint at this very day, given the boundaries that we have? If I resign any time this year, he could not successfully appoint anyone I would like to see in the court. [The Senate ...] took off the filibuster for lower federal court appointments, but it remains for this court. So anybody who thinks that if I step down, Obama could appoint someone like me, they’re misguided. As long as I can do the job full steam…. I think I’ll recognize when the time comes that I can’t any longer. But now I can.Justice Ginsburg on resigning while President Obama is in office.

True Detective season 2 has their Lead Cast
The two leads in this season's True Detective are Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell. Personally, I was hoping for a woman or a person of color, but hopefully we will get that in season 3.
Anywho, here's more:
The network officially confirmed on Tuesday that Farrell will star as Ray Velcoro, "a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him."I loved last season, so I expect greatness again.
Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, "a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner."
HBO said the upcoming eight-episode season will involve "three police officers and a career criminal (who) must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder."

Say What? Louisiana's State Judge Ruled the State's Gay Marriage Ban Unconstitutional
This is a flip!
A Louisiana state Judge Edward Rubin ruled that gay marriage ban is unconstitutional, violating the due process and equal protection clauses of 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
Remember, dumb ass District Judge Martin Feldman upheld the ban using junk science and 4th grade beliefs. It's going to be interesting to watch now that this has happened.
More to come!

This series is a true staple in American culture... So cool to be a part of this experience.

Brian Brown thinks the Supreme Court will side with the Foolish Judge Martin Feldman
Brian wrote in US News that SCOTUS will completely keep marriage between a man and woman, and this fool is basing it from the Louisiana case.
Here's a piece of his post:
If the court rules next year that the U.S. Constitution permits states to define marriage in the traditional way, as I believe they will, we’ll again hear shocked reaction from the left. But there will have been many signs that the Supreme Court was not going to “constitutionalize” gay marriage, most notably the decision handed down recently by a federal court in Louisiana.Bryan, wake up.
Oh, you didn’t hear much about the Louisiana decision? No surprise. Here’s what happened. U.S. District Court Judge Martin Feldman, following extensive briefing and argument, ruled that the U.S. Constitution does not prohibit the state of Louisiana from defining marriage solely as one man and one woman, nor refusing to recognize so-called same-sex marriages performed elsewhere. He found that the state had several valid reasons for having adopted this position, which was approved by 78 percent of its voters. One reason, Feldman wrote, was to encourage children to be raised by their mother and father in an intact family. Another was to ensure that any change in such a foundational issue as marriage should only be considered via the democratic process and not be judicially imposed.
Feldman demolished the conclusion of other judges that there is no rational basis for upholding state marriage laws, writing “that a meaning of what is marriage that has endured in history for thousands of years, and prevails in a majority of states today, is not universally irrational on the constitutional grid.”

Real Talk for Y'all
When I left my job, I didn't know what to expect.
I had 12K saved up, no job leads and myself. I was scared, because I never left a job without another job around the corner, but I knew I had to go... So I did.
For the first time in my life, I had to find a place and a job all at once. Usually, working in Residential Life, you get a free place and a job. I became so comfortable with that format I had no idea on how to do the basic things to prepare for real life living.
For two months, I learned a lot about my heart, my passion, my strength and my soul. I was put to the test on making it on my own, and I tell you, it wasn't a cakewalk, folks.
I doubted myself and decision to leave my job. I thought I fucked up, but I had to remember that I was/am 20 feet tall.
At a young age, I was taught to be better and strive for the best. I've made it this far and the universe brought me here to LA for a reason. If I fell down, I had to get up and keep going. I watched my Grandmama do it and watched my mama do it... From them, I had the tools. For them, I had to continue the legacy.
So, I kept my head up and my steps firm. I got through a tough run, and yes there's more to come. But now, I know that I'm ready and I will do this.

CBS Gives Series Commitment to a ‘Supergirl’ series
CBS wants Supergirl.
Following "Arrow" and "The Flash", scribes Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler are moving forward with a “Supergirl” series.
For you non-geeks, Supergirl is Superman's cousin. Her name is Kara Zor-El, who, 24, and ready to use her powers for good.
This is another one of DC Comics many TV projects. Supergirl joins Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, Constantine, iZombie and possibly, Teen Titans/Titans for TNT. I'm not too worried about this series, Greg is pretty good with telling decent stories, so this could be a hit.

Michael Sam's Making Progress
Good news for Michael Sam!
He's doing good in his practice squad with the Dallas Cowboys. His position coach said that Michael is making progress on the team.
Here's more:
"He's done some good things," defensive line coach Rod Marinelli told the Dallas Morning News. "The only thing he really gets is some of our individual periods and then he gets some one-on-one rushes on Wednesday, and I think he's gotten a little bit better.I hope he gets to play.
"But it's tougher for a practice squad guy because these other guys here, they're pounding with all week long in terms of fundamentals and game-planning and those things. So it's a little tougher, but he's got movement. I like his quickness and his instincts. He's got really good work habits, so just keep working to develop

Facebook will not Change their policies on Real Names
Several days ago, Facebook decided to drop FB accounts that doesn't use real names. Well, many drag queens were upset about this and demanded FB to back off.
Fast forward a bit to where Facebook met with a group of San Francisco drag queens. Some of us thought Facebook would back down, but guess what? They didn't.
AP reports
Facebook says it temporarily restored hundreds of deleted profiles of self-described drag queens and others, but declined to change a policy requiring account holders to use their real names rather than drag names such as Lil Ms. Hot Mess and Sister Roma.I'll be honest, I get it and don't. There are several categories to choose from on FB. I have two accounts, my personal one and the blog. Could they create a fan page on FB? Perhaps switch to Twitter or Instagram? One could argue that you can leave FB if you don't like their policies. You don't have to be on FB, right?
The company restored the names Wednesday after it met with several drag queens and a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors who object to Facebook's policy. The drag queens say requiring them and others to disclose their real names is unfair and could put jobs, relationships and health at risk.
Facebook said it will keep the accounts active for two weeks so people can decide whether to provide their real names.
Several drag queens and Supervisor David Campos said at a news conference at San Francisco City Hall that they are disappointed that Facebook didn't change its policy after the two sides met for about an hour Wednesday. Campos said Facebook has agreed to another meeting.
I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just not sure of the depth of the problem. I understand the issue for the Trans community, but not clear on Drag performers. If someone can explain, please let me know.
Scott Lively is Frightened of the HRC
Scott Lively is afraid of the HRC. In their latest campaign, the HRC targets hate leaders who go abroad to spread anti-gay hate.
After receiving this "honor", Scott went to Barbwire to express his fears:
The so-called Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has taken a page from the left wing hate group Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and published a new report called “The Export of Hate.” A’ la SPLC, this publication is nothing less than an enemies list designed to help people like “gay” activist Floyd Lee Corkins identify their assassination targets. That's just the beginning of his rant, but seriously, no one cares if you're scared, Scott.
I have special cause for concern in this matter because I am listed by HRC as Target #1.
Not every “gay” activist is physically violent, thankfully. Most limit their “human rights advocacy” to harassment, intimidation and slander. But make no mistake, if they thought they could get away will killing every person on the HRC and SPLC hit lists, they would do it. They smolder with malicious hatred against anyone who stands in their way.

‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ is getting a Reboot?
Really?
I just read that Sony wants to remake I Know What You Did Last Summer. Why are they doing this? Are they officially out of ideas?
I guess... YES!
Deadline reports:
Sony Pictures is rebooting I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 1997 horror flick that ended up grossing $125M worldwide and spawned a sequel the following year. Both starred Jennifer Love Hewitt. This one is being written by Oculus c0-writer/director Mike Flanagan and partner Jeff Howard who are adapting the 1973 Lois Duncan book again. Producing is Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise) who also produced the original 17 years ago. If the budget is kept tight for the revamp of the popular horror movie about friends being stalked by a killer after conspiring to cover up a fatal car accident, it could be a very profitable venture for the studio. This is so silly. Do we need a remake of this film? NO!
Again, this is so silly.
Sean Hannity "Being Gay Is Not Normal"
On his radio show, Sean Hannity whined about the NFL and gayness.
Here's a sample
"You guys want to tell parents what they can and cannot do. For example, is it gonna become illegal if a parent teaches kids the politically incorrect view that being gay is not normal? Or that the parent says — whatever the parent wants to teach the kid that you would disagree with? I think we’ve gotten to the point where, if we don’t politically correct our kids, we might as well hand our kids over to the government the day that they’re born and let them raise them."Listen to the radio session here
