Queer Film Blog has a Massage for Privileged Gays in the World
The queer film blog /Bent is ending it's run on the internets. But before they go, they have some constructive criticism to the privileged gays of the world going into 2016 and beyond. This list is amazing and I want y'all to check it out:
1. Mind your Instagram. Sure, all those pics of you with your shirt off in the mirror might get 10x the likes of anything else you post, but they probably also help nourish the body dysmorphia complexes of half your followers. Before you post anything on the 'gram (or anywhere else for that matter), ask yourself: Who is this post serving? If the only answer is you and your need for attention, don't press publish.
2. Delete all the dating apps. You don't need them, they are wasting your and other people's time, and they are making you and/or others feel shitty and desperate. Re-add them when you travel, though, cause everyone needs a tour guide.
3. Go to a fucking gay bar. They need you to exist, and a lot of the great ones died this year. Imagine a world without gay bars? Things are boring enough as it is.
4. #stopusingstupidfuckinghashtags. Which is almost all hashtags, but especially #gaybrunch.
5. Spend some time with LGBT people that don't look/act like you. Can we seriously put an end to the insane amount of racism, ageism, transphobia, fatphobia and internalized homophobia in the gay "community"? It's disgusting. And even if you thankfully already do this -- get rid of the assholes in your life who are incapable of it.
6. Fuck outside the box. Because you probably don't actually have "a type."
7. Spend some time offline. That means no phone, too. Like for at least an hour or two a day.
8. Read more. Like when you're having those offline hours (and yes, we mean books and here's a good start)
9. Support good LGBT artists, films, TV shows, music, plays, books, performances, festivals. But don't just support them because they are LGBT.
10. Find some self-awareness. The lack of it in the air right now -- probably in part because of the internet and social media -- is an epidemic. Face yourself, know yourself, and stop making everything about yourself.
That's all. And thanks for reading!
Question(s) of the Day
So the new year is coming. How do you feel about this past year?
Are you ready for a change? Or are you looking at this as just another year?

Bill Cosby charged for Aggravated Indecent Assault
Bill Cosby was charged on three counts of aggravated incident assault, a 2nd degree felony.
This is the first criminal charge against Bill Cosby. If he's convicted of the second-degree felony he faces 5 to 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine. During his hearing, he was hit with $1 million bond where he posted 10% of it.
This charge came from alleged assault between 2001 and 2004 at Temple University. Andrea Constand said that he tried to approach her twice before he allegedly assaulted her.
As I said earlier, just probably the first of several cases to come. More on the story as it goes.
More Comedy from NOM's Blog
I am LOVING this. In the latest post, they write about not reaching their goal
Dear Marriage Supporter,
I hate to say it, but right now it looks like we are not going to make our end-of-year matching grant.
Most of our budget is supported by our year-end efforts. Each year a few generous donors band together and generously offer to match whatever we can raise to allow us to keep fighting for marriage and religious liberty.
And every year we have made it.
But now, with four days to go, we are way behind. We must raise $97,000.00 before January 1st to make the $200,000 matching pledge.
Help Us Reach Our Goal by Donating Today!
I know we can do this, but I need your help now more than ever before.
We have four short days to ensure that we can fight for you next year. If you and everyone else who receives this email chips in and forwards this email to one friend or family member, we would easily make the entire matching grant.
Oregon Bakers Read Mean Tweets
Sweet Cakes by Melissa owners paid a heavy price for being bigots.
After a long battle, Aaron and Melissa Klein had to give up $135,000 to the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) for refusing to make a cake for a lesbian couple.
Still feeling raw about it all, they made this video reading mean tweets about them

Tennessee State Rep. wants to Stop Same-Sex Marriage
Mess in my homestate of Tennessee.
State Rep. Rick Womick wants the state to stop issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Why? He believes it was wrong for the U.S. Supreme Court to make gay marriage legal.
He stated:
"The state Constitution says that marriage is between one man and one woman, and my personal belief is that God says that marriage is between one man and one woman. He created Adam and Eve. God didn’t create Adam and Winston."He continued in a phone interview to say that Tennessee should revert back to being a common-law state on marriage:
"That would take the state out of the marriage business altogether. I think that’s probably the best approach given the legal climate."Rick is also working with a hate group, Family Action Council of Tennessee, to create a resolution to uphold the state constitution’s definition of marriage as a legal contract between one man and one woman.
I hope this fails.

'Glee' Actor Mark Salling Arrested for Child Pornography
This is so many things...
'Glee' Actor Mark Salling Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography... No joke!
I saw this over at TMZ, which is basically the truth. They report:
We're told the LAPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force obtained a warrant and served it Tuesday morning, as first reported by the TV show "Crime Watch Daily." We're told cops searched Salling's computer at his Sunland home and found hundreds of images. At the time of this post, Salling is being taken to the police station for booking. Our sources say an ex-girlfriend of Salling's tipped off cops and they investigated before the raid to make sure it wasn't a revenge allegation.Salling has had his share of legal problems. In 2013 he was sued by a woman who claimed he committed sexual battery on her by forcing sex without a condom. Salling denied the charge and the case settled.Lord
Murdering Teen Ethan Couch detained in Mexico
In 2013, Ethan Couch killed four people in a drunk driving incident. However, when he went to court his judge let him go free using an affluenza defense. Ethan got away with murder using this white privilege defense, making very clear that money can buy you freedom.
Now fast forward to late November where a video popped up, showing Ethan drinking around a bunch of teenagers. This video proved that Ethan violated his probation. This violation could possibly give Ethan 10 years in prison. When he was ordered to return to court, Ethan and his mother disappeared. For weeks, authorities searched for Ethan and his mother, until they were found in Puerto Vallarta.
As you can see in the picture above, Ethan dyed his hair so he wouldn't be recognized. This proves that this boy hasn't learned anything from that incident, hopefully he will serve jail time. The families who lost their loved ones because of his recklessness deserve that much.

No Accountability for the Cops involved in the Death of Tamir Rice
Sadly, a grand jury decided not to charge the officers involved in the death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.
If you aware of the story, Tamir was shot by the police because he had a toy gun. In a video it shows with in seconds how the police respond to Tamir. Their stories did not add up along with the dispatch call as well.
As evidence was gathered, the grand jury start meeting around October to see if they would charge Officers Loehmann and Garmback. Yesterday, they decided not to charge him with anything. The fact that there is no accountability of the murder of this young boy is atrocious. Prosecutor Tim McGinty, claimed he was doing his best. However, it feels like he was really defending the police department of Cuyahoga County. As the news went out, many people knew something was wrong with this case. Later, it was reported that there were issues with this case. The lawyer for the Rice family released this statement.
"Today, more than a year after Cleveland police shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice, a grand jury voted not to indict the shooter. Tamir's family is saddened and disappointed by this outcome – but not surprised.
"It has been clear for months now that Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty was abusing and manipulating the grand-jury process to orchestrate a vote against indictment. Even though video shows the police shooting Tamir in less than one second, Prosecutor McGinty hired so-called expert witnesses to try to exonerate the officers and tell the grand jury their conduct was reasonable and justified. It is unheard of, and highly improper, for a prosecutor to hire "experts" to try to exonerate the targets of a grand-jury investigation. These are the sort of "experts" we would expect the officer's criminal-defense attorney to hire — not the prosecutor.
"Then, Prosecutor McGinty allowed the police officers to take the oath and read prepared statements to the grand jury without answering any questions on cross-examination. Even though it is black-letter law that taking the stand waives the Fifth Amendment right to be silent, the prosecutor did not seek a court order compelling the officers to answer questions or holding the officers in contempt if they continued to refuse. This special treatment would never be given to non-police suspects.
"The way Prosecutor McGinty has mishandled the grand-jury process has compounded the grief of this family.
"The Rice family is grateful for all the community support they have received and urges people who want to express their disappointment with how Prosecutor McGinty has handled this process to do so peacefully and democratically. We renew our request that the Department of Justice step in to conduct a real investigation into this tragic shooting of a 12-year-old child."
Now they are hoping to take this to the Department of Justice. It's sad that this is how these cases are being dealt with today. It's also sad that we can't trust local justice systems to handle these cases. When it comes to black lives deals are made to protect everyone but the community. This is not the country I thought I lived in... Not at all.

Kim Davis leads the pack of GQ's Worst People of the Year
In GQ magazine, Kim Davis is considered THE Worst Person of 2015. The unchosen one took the country by storm when she decided to be judge and jury over gay marriage in her county.
We know her story, but GQ's version is really ugly
The very first “political prisoner” of the antigay, meth-addled, paranoid micro-bloc of the American electorate. Thanks to Davis, I now know that my own country is pathologically immune to social progress and will put aside EVERYTHING—building bridges, educating children, fixing roads—to keep the gays from gaying more stuff up.
James Franco's New Book of Poems: Straight James / Gay James is out
James loves flirting with his sexuality, I'm shamefully here for it.
His new book is called Straight James / Gay James. I guess it explores James' views on life, sex and love.
Here's Amazon's description:
Straight James / Gay James actor James Franco's new chapbook of poems, explores the facets of his public and private personas. Straight James / Gay James is a poetic bildungsroman--raw, candid, and uninhibited. James Franco writes about life as an actor, sexuality, questions of identity, gender, family, Gucci, Lana Del Rey, James Dean, and Hollywood. His poetic style varies from the imagistic to the prosaic. The chapbook also contains an interview of "Gay James" conducted by "Straight James." Yes, Straight James asks the question: Let's get substantial: are you gay or what?
Hate Leader Tony Perkins needs a Million dollars to fight LGBT Rights
Tony sent this email, begging for money. He wants to continue this losing battle against us, check it out.
I hope you had a blessed Christmas! But now you and I must end this year defending the faith we celebrated — the faith we LIVE OUT — against those who would push it out of our society. That’s why I emailed you earlier this month.Girl, bye
I wanted to let you know that Family Research Council (FRC) needs to receive $1 million by the end of the day, December 31, to finish 2015 on budget. Now it is less than one week until our deadline. And as I send this, we still haven’t made our goal. But every gift will be doubled dollar-for-dollar by a generous $250,000 Matching Grant (up to the amount of the grant).
Family Research Council needs, and we absolutely appreciate, your support at this very crucial moment in U.S. history. If you have not yet given, then I ask you to please do so. Making our goal is absolutely critical. As you know, radicals in Washington, New York, Hollywood, activist groups, and more attacked your faith and values like no other year in history.
FIVE UNELECTED JUDGES OF THE U.S. SUPREME COURT told Americans they had to change their definition of marriage and those disagreeing risked punishment and ruin. A county clerk went to jail. Businesses were ruined. Ministries were jeopardized. Yet FRC rallied Americans to support heroes living out their faith, such as county clerk Kim Davis, who received our special “Cost of Discipleship Award” and is back on the job.
PRESIDENT OBAMA ordered the government to enforce special privileges for people based on homosexual and transgender behavior and insisted that taxpayers and ministries participate in funding or facilitating the provision of abortion. Yet FRC helped expose these threats to Congress as they moved closer than ever to defunding Planned Parenthood, and proposed laws to protect Christians living out their faith in the workplace.
Spreading FRC’s careful research — our irrefutable facts, logic, and powerful arguments for faith, family, and freedom — are especially important in this year of national elections and debate! However, we are competing with wealthy forces of immorality or compromise — in both major political parties. Will this be an opportunity lost or seized? I believe the answer will depend on God’s grace, our prayers, our courage, our wisdom, and funding from insightful patriots like you. FRC needs to finish 2015 financially at full strength. We absolutely need to make our $1 million goal by the December 31 deadline.

In the latest Quinnipiac poll
So, according to the latest Quinnipiac poll, Trump doesn't have a shot and Hillary may take the presidency.
See here:
Trump has 28 percent of the GOP pack, with Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas at 24 percent. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida has 12 percent and Dr. Ben Carson has 10 percent, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University Poll finds. No other candidate tops 6 percent with 8 percent undecided. But 58 percent of those who name a candidate might change their mind.
Among Democrats, Clinton tops Sanders 61 - 30 percent. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley has 2 percent, with 6 percent undecided and 41 percent who might change their mind.
Among Republicans, 28 percent of voters say they "would definitely not support" Trump, with 24 percent who would not back Bush.
Only 23 percent of all voters would be proud to have Trump as president.
If Clinton is elected, 33 percent of all voters would be proud and 35 percent would be embarrassed.
"Half of American voters say they'd be embarrassed to have Donald Trump as their Commander in Chief and most Americans think he doesn't have a good chance in November, but there he is still at the top of the Republican heap," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. "Hillary Clinton tops him. Sen. Bernie Sanders hammers him and Sen. Ted Cruz is snapping at his heels. Can a candidate that half the American electorate thinks is an embarrassment win in November?"

In Kentucky: Gov. Matt Bevin removes names of clerks from Marriage Licenses
Tea Party fave and Kentucky's curse Gov. Matt Bevin has allowed county clerks to remove their names from marriage licenses in order to protect their religious beliefs.
He has issued an executive order directing the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to issue the revised marriage license forms to all county clerks. I guess in January this mess will begin.
Sorry to hear about this Kentucky

This is the Fifth Anniversary of the DADT Repeal
Five years ago, President Obama signed the repeal of DADT. It was a historic moment for us as the discrimination of our gay and lesbian military came to an end.
Remember, how crazy the year before that was? The protests, the grandstanding and GOP? It was a lot to take in, but eventually, everything worked out.
Happy Anniversary
Hot Trailer: 4th Man Out
The premise
Evan Todd ("Switched at Birth") stars as Adam, a small-town, blue-collar mechanic who likes beer and hockey but surprises his buddies when he tells them he’s gay. Well meaning but perhaps fated to trip over themselves, hilarity ensues when said buddies all try to help Adam find a boyfriend.
Grand Jury WILL NOT Indict anyone in the Death of Sandra Bland
I'm not surprised, but here's the news. A Texas grand jury decided to not indict anyone in connection with Sandra Bland's murder.
Quick recap: Sandra was moving to a new town, starting a new job. As she was driving, Sandra was racially profiled by a cop. She was arrested for no reason and during her stay, Sandra died in police custody. The cops claimed she committed suicide, but it was odd that she would just kill herself.
For months, family and protesters have been looking for answers. We all hoped the system would give us some type of hope, but no, they didn't.
USA Today reports:
"After presenting all the evidence as it relates to the death of Sandra Bland, the grand jury did not return an indictment," Jordan, one of the five special prosecutors, said after the grand jury met Monday for about 11 hours. "The grand jury also considered things that occurred at the jail and did not return an indictment."
Bland was found dead in her cell at the Waller County Jail on July 13. A medical examiner determined that she hanged herself and ruled her death a suicide. Her relatives and supporters dispute that finding.
During a news conference in Chicago on Monday, Bland's mother, Geneva Reed-Veal, said, "Now we're going to go through Christmas now and Sandy's not here. And more than that, we still have no answers as far as I'm concerned."
Dustin Lance Black and Gus Van Sant are bringing a Gay Miniseries to ABC
ABC ordered a gay-rights miniseries called, “When We Rise” from Dustin Lance Black and Gus Van Sant.
This miniseries will feature stories of LGBT folks throughout the gay civil rights movement. The series will focus on the Stonewall riots to now.
Here's my issue... the series description claims that it will show "setbacks and triumphs of a diverse family of LGBT men and women who helped pioneer one of the last legs of the U.S. Civil Rights movement from its turbulent infancy in the 20th century to the once unfathomable successes of today."
Okay, but will it be diverse?
Will we see people of color featured in these stories? And not interracial stuff, I mean couples of color. Those stories are RARELY seen in any major LGBT TV/Film project. Will we see diverse faces, or just another Ryan Murphy-ish cast?
I hoping for the best, but I'm not holding my breath.

Really FDA?
Look at this!
A year of abstinence? Who, why... What fool came up with this?
This is VERY messy, because they are still assuming that we're oversexed whores filled with disease and sickness. A year, like that changes anything. Straight folks screw all the time, cheat with multiple partners and "ho" themselves freely, but do they have to wait a year to give blood?
No Ma'am!
FDA you can keep this foolishness.

New Jersey State Senate tried to Override Gov. Chris Christie's Trans Bill Veto
In New Jersey, the State Senate tried to override Chris Christie's veto of S. 1195, a bill that would have helped transgender people obtain IDs matching their gender identity. However, the group was one vote shy of success.
The Washington Blade reports:
The unofficial vote to override was 26-14, just one vote short of the vote necessary to succeed, but the bill was pulled down before the vote became final to avoid defeat. Two Republicans — State Sen. Diane Allen (R-Cinnaminson) and State Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman (R-Somerville) — joined all Senate Democrats to vote in favor of the override.
Five Republicans who voted for initial passage of the bill voted "no" on the override: Jennifer Beck (R-Red Bank), Gerry Cardinale (R-Cresskill), Thomas Kean, Jr. (R-Westfield), Kevin O’Toole (R-Wayne) and Robert Singer (R-Lakewood). Beck voted "no" on the override even though she's a sponsor of the bill.
Because the bill was pulled down, the vote wasn't recorded in an official capacity. Although advocates had planned a vote in the Assembly, it was never taken up after the defeat in the Senate.
The legislation, S.1195, would have removed the requirement for a transgender person under gender reassignment surgery before they change the gender marker on their birth certificates.
State Sen. Joseph Vitale (D-Woodbridge), who sponsors the bill in the Senate along with Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, said in a statement the loss is "a disappointment and a setback to the progress we have made for LGBTQ rights in New Jersey and in the nation."
“This bill would have removed the barriers that transgender New Jerseyans face when requesting changes to such an important and personal identification document as their birth certificate to reflect who they are," Vitale said. "It’s important to remember that this is their birth certificate, their identification, not the state’s."
Marco Rubio feels 'Out of Place' in America
Marky Marco feels like he's left out in the rain. Yes, it's no longer a great country when you're getting called out for your bigotry and Marco is trying to change that. Watch this clip
He said:
He said:
“You have a country where people are told, this is a country where you’re going to be judged on your merits and on your hard work, and that is not happening. Increasingly, Americans feel out of place, because it seems like the people who have access to power and influence win. And everybody else is left on the outside looking in. And then people that hold traditional values are often described as bigots and haters.”Yes, they are. Pure and simple
WATCH Steve Harvey screwed up the Miss Universe announcement
I didn't watch Miss Universe, but apparently Hell was unleashed.
Steve Harvey hosted Miss Universe this year. Everything was fine, until the end when he announce who would get the crown. He announced that Miss Colombia was the winner, but she wasn't. Miss Philippines was the winner! How bad was it? See for yourself
Lord, they took that crown from Miss Colombia... Anywho, Steve tried to apologize, but that failed too
Twitter erupted into a hot racist mess, I would post some of the tweets, but I can't. It was a mistake, it could've happened to anyone, but this... This was a mess. I hope Steve can forgive himself.

Kathryn Knott Guilty of Assaulting Gay Couple, but Cleared of the Most Serious Charges
Kathryn Knott was apart of the gay bashing group who attacked a gay couple in Philly/Center City. They were jailed and brought into court early in the year. Two men who were with Kathryn pleaded guilty and are currently on probation. Miss Girl decided to have a hearing. So, jumping to this week, Kathryn went to court and delivered her own defense, denying that she played any major role in the attack.
Afterwards, the jury deliberated for 3 days and came up with... A split verdict? Yep, a split verdict. The jury found Kathryn guilty of simple assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy with regards to the wounded victim, but not guilty of aggravated assault or the three charges relating to the other victim.
So, she got something for her foolishness, however she may not get any jail time.

The Democratic National Committee has suspended Bernie Sanders’ campaign
Uh Oh! I guess Bernie is getting the Burn!
The Democratic National Committee has suspended Bernie Sanders’ campaign. The reason stems from someone on his team accessing Hillary Clinton’s internal voter data. Because of that, the DNC had no choice but to halt Sanders’ campaign six weeks before the first caucuses and primaries. n other words, this can hurt his chances.
NYT reports
The decision by the party committee is a blow to Mr. Sanders’ campaign as he prepares for a debate against Mrs. Clinton Saturday night. The database includes information from voters across the nation and is used by campaigns to set strategy, especially in the early voting states.
The breach occurred after a software problem at the technology company NGP VAN, which lets campaigns gain access to the voter data. The problem inadvertently made proprietary voter data of Mrs. Clinton’s campaign visible to others through a bug in code that was released on Wednesday by the company.
Stu Trevelyan, the chief executive officer of NGP VAN, stressed that users of the database from the Sanders campaign were able to search by and view, but not export or save or act on, “some attributes” that came from the Clinton campaign.
He stressed that by Friday morning he was confident that no other campaigns have had “access to or have retained any voter file data of any other clients; with one possible exception, one of the presidential campaigns.”
The Sanders campaign has fired that staff member who collected Clinton’s data.
Hillary Clinton lays out LGBT Initiatives
Hillary has shown her support for us in the past, but here's a more detailed plan on how she will continue that support.
It starts like this:
Thanks to the hard work of generations of LGBT advocates and activists who fought to make it possible, our country won a landmark victory this past June when the Supreme Court recognized that in America, under our Constitution, LGBT couples, like everyone else, have the right to marry the person they love. The Obergefell decision was a watershed moment and we must fight to protect the progress we have won in our courts. But our work to reach the promise of full equality remains unfinished. LGBT kids continue to be discriminated against and bullied at school, a restaurant can refuse to serve a transgender person, and a same-sex couple is at risk of being evicted from their home. Hillary Clinton believes that we must stand firm and keep fighting until every American can not only marry, but also live, work, pray, learn and raise a family free from discrimination and prejudice. She believes that America is at its best when we are inclusive, open, and striving towards true equality.More here

Interesting Quote: Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans
“He is one of the best, if not the best, pro-gay Republican candidates to ever run for the presidency. Trump would do no harm on same-sex marriage and has a “stand-out position” on non-discrimination legislation."Um okay, but he's also willing to block out the internet, ban Muslims from coming to the country, start wars for nothing, give the death penalty for anyone who kills a cop and corrupt the financial system. Yeah, that's a candidate I can support.
But according to Gregory here, as long as he's good to gays, he's A-Ok.

Facebook reveals Changes to Real Name Policy
Facebook has finally changed their Real Name policy.
If you remember, the changes back in late 2014 made things difficult for LGBTQ users. Many folks threaten to leave FB, but after several meetings and discussions, Facebook released the new policy:
We’re firmly committed to this policy, and it is not changing. However, after hearing feedback from our community, we recognize that it’s also important that this policy works for everyone, especially for communities who are marginalized or face discrimination. That’s why we’re continuing to make improvements in this area.Read more here
Today, we will begin to test new tools that address two key goals. First, we want to reduce the number of people who are asked to verify their name on Facebook when they are already using the name people know them by. Second, we want to make it easier for people to confirm their name if necessary. These tools have been built based on many conversations with community leaders and safety organizations around the world.
A new version of names reporting that requires people to provide context
We are introducing a new version of the names reporting process that requires people to provide additional information about why they are reporting a name. In the past, people were able to simply report a “fake name” but now they will be required to go through several new steps that provide us more specifics about the report. This additional context will help our review teams better understand why someone is reporting a name, giving them more information about a specific situation.

Key piece to remember:
“I remember we kept our socks on. Big tube socks. And we put [on] a lot of, you know, that sweat stuff, that glistening gel.”

Mistrial for First Officer in the Death of Freddie Gray
Not a surprise, but Judge Barry G. Williams declared a mistrial of Baltimore Police Officer William G. Porter in the Freddie Gray case.
After countless hours, jurors told a judge it could not reach a verdict on any of the four charges against him. Those charges included involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office. Porter is the first of six city police officers to stand trial in the death of Freddie Gray.
Word has it that the attorneys will pick a retrial date on Thursday morning. No word if the Porter's retrial will affect the trial dates for the other five officers involved in Freddie's death.
Chris Matthews stumps Trump in this Interview

Evangelical Leaders hold Secret Meeting to Endorse a Ted Cruz
Led by Hate Leader Tony Perkins, a bunch of evangelical leaders got together this month to endorse a GOP candidate. After a long debate, they chose Ted Cruz.
In a great article in the National Review, Tim Alberta digs into this story:
Together, beginning in early 2014, the group — referred to internally simply as “The GROUP” — met every few months to discuss the state of the race, to pray for guidance, and to conduct a straw poll to see which candidates enjoyed the most support at each stage of the campaign. It had all built to this day and to this meeting, where members would vote until they reached a verdict.
Once finalized, their decision would represent the culmination of an oft-dismissed undertaking that began several years earlier and aimed at one thing: coalescing the conservative movement’s leaders behind a single presidential candidate in a show of strength and solidarity that would position them to defeat the establishment-backed candidate in the head-to-head stage of the 2016 Republican primary. Cruz was the heavy favorite coming into the December gathering; he had won each of the previous three straw polls and for two years had tirelessly courted the evangelical leaders who formed the group’s backbone. Heading into the meeting, the participants understood that Perkins, along with a number of other senior members, would be pushing hard to form a supermajority behind Cruz. This part talks about the weak candidates
They eliminated the weaker contenders: Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Ben Carson among them. This facilitated the Cruz-Rubio duel many had been anticipating: Cruz, the Protestant purist with a pit bull’s demeanor, versus Rubio, the Catholic pragmatist with a choirboy’s countenance. Or, as one member framed it: “Cruz the Fighter versus Rubio the Communicator.”Read more at the link above. I think you will enjoy it?

Adam Anders (Glee) will arrange the musical numbers. The Passion is a modern retelling of the last days of Jesus of Nazareth’s life, ending with his crucifixion and resurrection. Fox’s ambitious staging will involve many iconic New Orleans locations, “culminating in a procession of hundreds carrying a 20-foo, illuminated cross from Champion Square outside the Superdome to the live stage at Woldenburg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River,” the network’s release states. The telecast will be produced by dick clark productions, Eye2Eye Media (which created a similar event, pictured at right, in The Netherlands in 2011) and Anders Media Inc.source
Racists show out at Trump's Las Vegas rally
Well, Donald Trump's supporters did it again. Last night at his Las Vegas rally, the Black Lives Matter protester heckled Trump during his speech. This quickly prompted Trump security to remove him.
As protester were being removed, several people screams out "wonderful" things according to MSNBC, like: "Shoot him!" "Kick his ass!" "Light the motherf----r on fire," and this cretin shouted, "Sieg heil!"

NBA referee Bill Kennedy comes out as Gay
After Sacramento Kings guard Rajon Rondo shouted a bunch of anti-gay slurs at referee Bill Kennedy, Bill decided to stand up and come out of the closet. Now, hold on while I try to explain this sports drama. Okay, so Bill took Rajon out of the game, which resulted to Rajon losing his mind and popped out at Bill.
WATCH
You can't hear the slurs, but sources say that this was moment he clowed. Anywho, Rajon was suspended for this mess and that motivated Bill to speak out.
Bill said:
"I am proud to be an NBA referee and I am proud to be a gay man."I am following in the footsteps of others who have self-identified in the hopes that will send a message to young men and women in sports that you must allow no one to make you feel ashamed of who you are."Then NBA commissioner Adam Silver delivered a statement, supporting Bill.
"I wholeheartedly support Bill's decision to live his life proudly and openly. Throughout his 18-year career with the league, Bill has excelled as a referee because of his passion, dedication and courage. Those qualities will continue to serve him well both as a game official and as a positive influence for others. While our league has made great progress, our work continues to ensure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity."Good for Bill for speaking his truth.

Quinnipiac Poll: Most Iowa voters will NOT support for Trump for President
Here's something to keep in mind about the GOP and the 2016 election. In the latest Quinnipiac poll, support for certain front runners are, interesting.
Among Iowa Republican Caucus-goers, 30 percent say they “would definitely not support” Trump, with 23 percent who would not support former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
“The tie at the top of the Iowa Republican Caucus reflects a change in priorities among voters. The last time Quinnipiac University polled, the economy was the top issue. Now it is terrorism, a subject on which Donald Trump gets the highest rating of any of the candidates," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
“With seven weeks to go until the voting, whether Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz or any of the other candidates prevails will likely be determined by which candidate has the best turnout operation – a subject about which everyone likes to speculate but is not measurable until caucusnight February 1.
“One good sign for Sen. Cruz in his battle with Trump is that voters view him much morefavorably than Trump, meaning that the Texas lawmaker may have a higher potential upside.”
