He-Mess, Dean Grose will Resign on Monday
Dumbass Dean is realizing the impact of his 'watermelon' e-mail. Earlier, this fool sent an e-mail showing a watermelon patch on the White House lawn under the title: "No Easter egg hunt this year."
Now, after folks have raised hell and thrown watermelons at his house, he's going to resign on Monday. However, he's staying on the City Council.
I wonder how long that will last.

Huckleberry Hound Lied in his GOP Speech
I knew it! There was some else fishy about Bobby Jindal's speech!
Huckle said he was standing right next to Sheriff Harry Lee during Katrina trying to help the abandoned people. It was mentioned during that whole 'arrest me' part of his speech.
During Katrina, I visited Sheriff Harry Lee, a Democrat and a good friend of mine. When I walked into his makeshift office I'd never seen him so angry. He was yelling into the phone: 'Well, I'm the Sheriff and if you don't like it you can come and arrest me!' I asked him: 'Sheriff, what's got you so mad?' He told me that he had put out a call for volunteers to come with their boats to rescue people who were trapped on their rooftops by the floodwaters. The boats were all lined up ready to go - when some bureaucrat showed up and told them they couldn't go out on the water unless they had proof of insurance and registration. I told him, 'Sheriff, that's ridiculous.' And before I knew it, he was yelling into the phone: 'Congressman Jindal is here, and he says you can come and arrest him too!' Harry just told the boaters to ignore the bureaucrats and start rescuing people.
Anyway, that part didn't happen. This part did: Jindal wasn't there at the big story moment, he spoke to the Sheriff after the fact.
However Jindal's team is consistently trying to 'fix' this story and making him look more like a big ole liar.
The nerve of that hound.
Interesting Quote: Sen. Dave Schultheis
“What I’m hoping is that, yes, that person may have AIDS, have it seriously as a baby and when they grow up, but the mother will begin to feel guilt as a result of that. The family will see the negative consequences of that promiscuity and it may make a number of people over the coming years begin to realize that there are negative consequences and maybe they should adjust their behavior.
Schultheis 's response when asked to clarify his comments about HIV-positive women to infect their babies.
Seriously, who's putting these fools in office?
Top Chef's Carla was ROBBED!
Her answer at the judges' table broke my heart. I will always believe Carla is the Top Chef. However, great things will happen for her, I just know it.
Focus on the Family Leader, James Dobson Resigns!
Juicy stuff!
Evangelical leader and cultural terrorist, James Dobson has resigned as chairman of Focus on the Family. However he will continue to host their radio program, write their hateful newsletter and spew hate speeches.
AP reports:
Dobson's resignation as board chairman "lessens his administrative burden" and is the latest step in a succession plan, the group said. Dobson began relinquishing control six years ago by stepping down as president and CEO.
"One of the common errors of founder-presidents is to hold to the reins of leadership too long, thereby preventing the next generation from being prepared for executive authority," Dobson said in a statement. "... Though letting go is difficult after three decades of intensive labor, it is the wise thing to do."
While Focus on the Family emphasizes that it devotes most of its resources to offering parenting and marriage advice, it is best known for promoting conservative moral stands in politics.
On political matters, Dobson "will continue to speak out as he always has — a private citizen and not a representative of the organization he founded," said Gary Schneeberger, a Focus on the Family spokesman. He said the nonprofit ministry and Focus on the Family Action — an affiliate set up under a different section of the tax code that permits more political activity — will continue to be active on public policy.
Dobson has a devoted following. His radio broadcast reaches an estimated 1.5 million U.S. listeners daily. Yet critics say his influence is waning, pointing to evangelicals pushing to broaden the movement's agenda beyond abortion, gay marriage and other issues Dobson views as most vital.
1.5 million folks? Wow, that's not cute. But it's nice to hear that his influence is waning. Maybe if he tackled real issues like poverty, failing schools and community outreach, people would listen and perhaps...have a purpose to follow him? Who knows.
Joe the Plumber Writes a Book...
Educators are Failing our LGBT Students of Color
I got some not-so-good news about our LGBT teens of color and their experiences in school.
The report, "Shared Differences" reveals some interesting info:
• Biased barbs: More than 80 percent of LGBT youth of color often heard the phrase "that's so gay" or similar uses of "gay" at school to put people down. Two-thirds heard "faggot," "dyke" and other anti-gay name-calling.
In a particularly alarming finding, more than half of these students said they had heard teachers, principals or other adults at their school make homophobic remarks.
• Ignored cries for help: Only about one-fifth of students reported that school officials "most of the time" or "always" stepped in when anti-gay remarks were made in their presence.
Report co-author Joseph Kosciw says some educators are sending the message that anti-gay remarks "aren't just tolerated in school but acceptable."
Only about one in 10 students of color said other students stepped in when they heard anti-gay comments.
• Frightened: More than half of these students said they felt unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation; one-third said they felt unsafe because of how they express their gender.
Close to half of the students surveyed said they had been physically harassed or assaulted in the past year in school because of their sexual orientation.
But this experience varied widely by race and ethnicity: 33 percent of LGBT African Americans said they'd been subject to physical violence in school. Among LGBT Native American students, the percentage was 54 percent.
• Who am I? : Fourteen percent of LGBT students of color said their school books include information about gay issues, and only 11 percent said their school work has included positive portrayals of gay people.
This is very disheartening and very telling about why HIV is running wild in our community. Why the their self-esteem is severely damaged, and why many LGBT people of color are not out and proud.
This has to change.

This is Blasphemous! They want to Reboot The NeverEnding Story!
Warners Bros. hate us (fantasy and sci-fi folks).
There are talks to reboot The NeverEnding Story!
That can't do this! It's fine the way it is!
THR said: Warner Bros. and a pair of top-tier production banners are in the early stages of a reboot of the 1980s children's fantasy classic. The Kennedy/Marshall Co. ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") and Leonard DiCaprio's shingle Appian Way are in discussions with Warners about reviving the 25-year-old franchise with a modern spin. The studio recently acquired rights to the property, clearing the way for a potential remake.
This is wrong, y'all...Why can't they think of something new?
We will see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury not once, not twice, but 9 Times
Marvel Studios just confirmed that Samuel L. Jackson will be back as Nick Fury for nine movies. Not so long ago, he wasn't sure if they were going to ask him back.
But, that's no longer an issue:
Samuel L. Jackson has buried the hatchet with Marvel Entertainment, making a deal to play the role of Nick Fury in "Iron Man 2," and potentially many other films.
Jackson's deal is a long-term commitment to play Fury, the leader of the espionage unit the Shield. His deal contains an option to play the character in nine future Marvel superhero films, efforts that are expected to include "Captain America," "Thor," "The Avengers" and "The Shield" as well as potential sequels.
This is cool news
In Fear of a Gay Friendly Country
My fellow blogger, Eric brought up how homophobic the GOP and others have been for the past several months (more than that). And I've been thinking the same thing.
This is what I've noticed:
- The Utah Legislature snuffed out 3 more gay-rights bills.
- In Gainesville, Christian groups placed an amendment on the ballot that will make it legal to fire and deny housing to LGBT folks.
- Sen. Scott Renfroe equate us to murderers and think we should but to death.
- Chris Buttars thinks we are just like radical Muslims.
- The National Organization for Marriage launched a web site and a group called the DOMA Defense Fund last month to raise money to keep the Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits the federal government from acknowledging same-sex marriages and allows states to ignore same-sex marriages enacted in other states.
- Oklahoma House passed a bill declaring the state sovereign from any rule of the federal government not mentioned in the Constitution. 8 other states are planning to do the same.
- Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, issued a statement pushing RNC chair, Michael Steele, to deny the Log Cabin Republicans a greater voice.
- In West Virginia, a website called, wv4marriage.com believes we are, THE GAY SNIPERS ready to attack straight families.
- Hawaii is now a battleground in the fight for same-sex civil unions.
- A Idaho state Senate committee killed a proposal to outlaw discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Georgia state Rep. Charlice Byrd wants to fire every university professor who teaches such "disgusting" classes as queer theory.
I feel like we need to get prepared. Their attacks are coming harder and faster. As a people, we need to organize and stay aware. I think it will get worse as the year progess.

Over the Hills
It's done. The Hills, the tired show about rich spoiled girls in L.A. is coming to a close. The 5th season will be its last THANK HERA.
Lauren said:
“My biggest thing with the show was that I wanted to walk away from it while it’s still a great thing. I always want to remember it that way. I gave MTV a deadline and said, ‘This is as long as I can do it and stay sane.’ ”
Well, you drove us crazy, so maybe this will end other tired shows about rich kids. I'm telling y'all, we will see many of these shows drop like flies during the Obama age. More middle kids problems to cover our TV screens.
P.S...I did watch the 1st 2 seasons.

Mayor Dean Grose is a Huge F**khead!
Do they want their jobs? Dumbass Mayor Dean Grose from Los Alamitos, sent an e-mail with watermelons on the White House lawn under the title "No Easter egg hunt this year."
City volunteer, Keyanus Price saw this e-mail and was appalled, she want this idiot give a public apology.
This is her reaction: "I have had plenty of my share of chicken and watermelon and all those kinds of jokes. I honestly don't even understand where he was coming from, sending this to me. As a black person receiving something like this from the city-freakin'-mayor - come on."
The interesting thing is his response. He claims that he didn't know that watermelon was a racial thing (child cheese).
"Bottom line is, we laugh at things and I didn't see this in the same light that she did. I'm sorry. It wasn't sent to offend her personally - or anyone - from the standpoint of the African-American race."Dean, here's a big f**k you to you!
To the GOP Governors who may reject the Stimulus Bill
GOP Governors! Mark Sanford, Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal! As you continue to talk about possibly rejecting the stimulus bill, I want you to think about the children that will suffer, the schools that are falling apart, the businesses that are closing and the families who are doing whatever to survive in your states.
Trying to pose yourself as a strong leader is a cheap ploy. How dare you, put people in jeopardy for your own gains. That, my friends is unpatriotic.
People need and Governors to work and stand up for them, not punish them for nothing. As I said before, they need that money, they need that spark of hope.
GOP Governors, do something right and support your REAL constituents. If you are truly worthy of a Presidential nomination, then the universe will give you that opportunity. But until then, serve the people!
The Huckleberry Hound pic represents Bobby Jindal.
*UPDATE* I meant Governors, but I said Senators...Thanks to Mad Professah for the heads up.
Sen. Scott Renfroe Believes we are like Murderers and we should be put to Death
Please listen to Sen Scott Renfroe during a debate on a bill that would give same-sex health care benefits to state employees in Colorado.
This is pure lunacy! How dare he spit out such hate as if it's just plain conversation. This is scary, y'all. This is scary because he felt compelled to say this mess with ease. People of Colorado, please hold this cretin accountable and gay folks, let's stand up against him.
I found a site that allows us to send Scotty a message. If interested, please go here
Scotty, you are f***ing unbelievable!
Thank for JMG for posting this issue.
Bobby Jackal Truly Had NOTHING to Say
Y'all can see this crap for yourselves, but I swear, it was like Huckleberry Hound stepped on stage to sing 'Oh My Darin' Clementine'

Just when you thought Hawaii was Safe...
I'm shocked to hear this, but it's the reality.
In Honolulu, 2,000+ people at protested House Bill 444 at the state Capitol the other day. This bill would make civil unions between same-sex partners legal in Hawaii.
I always thought at the end of all the gay marriage drama, we can always turn to Hawaii. But judging from this picture and the outcries from the people...I'm not so sure anymore.
Here are some of those 'outcries'
"This bill is an abomination," said Judy Franklin, an associate with the Ministry of Brother Nathan Paikai. "It opens the door for innocent children in foster care to be taken into homosexual families — that's one of my chief concerns."
Nathan Paikai said he does not condemn homosexuals, but he doesn't believe they should be able to enter into civil unions.
"I still have family that I pray will find the love of Jesus," he said. "But now they're trying to put their uncleanliness on me, and on my children, and on my children's children. If they want to sin on themselves, if they want to do wrong, then do it on themselves."
The sad thing is, these actions and judgments are so far from what Jesus stood for.
Yes on Prop 8: This is How they Won
The 'Yes on Prop 8' folks somewhat gloated about how they won. In Politics Magazine, Cultural terrorists, Frank Schubert, president of Schubert-Flint Public Affairs, and partner in crime, Jeff Flint broke it down.
I will highlight several points from the article:
- On the first day that same-sex marriages took place, June 16, we fielded nearly 300 media calls from reporters around the globe. Our message was calm and low-key: Our fight was not with the gay couples getting married, our fight was with the fl awed reasoning of a narrow majority of the California Supreme Court.
- A survey released by the Field Institute in mid-September showed that fully 55 percent of likely voters were opposed to Prop 8, with just 38 percent in favor. The political elite all but wrote off Proposition 8 as being dead once the Field Poll was published. To make matters worse for us, less than a week after the Field Poll came out, the No on 8 campaign began its television advertising in the state’s major media markets. We worked hard during this period to urge our supporters to have faith that Prop 8 could still be enacted despite what they saw on the news. We organized countless meetings and conference calls of pastors and other campaign leaders. And we restructured our online presence and delivered a stream of messages to supporters designed to keep them informed and engaged.
- The dynamics of the Proposition 8 campaign were unique. We were asking voters for a Yes vote to ban same-sex marriage and restore traditional marriage. We strongly believed that a campaign in favor of traditional marriage would not be enough to prevail. We needed to convince voters that gay marriage was not simply “live and let live”—that there would be consequences if gay marriage were to be permanently legalized. But how to raise consequences when gay marriage was so recently legalized and not yet taken hold? We made one of the key strategic decisions in the campaign, to apply the principles of running a “No” campaign—raising doubts and pointing to potential problems—in seeking a “Yes” vote.
- We built a campaign volunteer structure around both time-honored campaign grassroots tactics of organizing in churches, with a ground-up structure of church captains, precinct captains, zip code supervisors and area directors; and the latest Internet and web-based grassroots tools. Our campaign website was rebuilt to serve as an incredibly effective organizing tool. Online volunteer sign-ups were immediately sent electronically to the appropriate ZIP code supervisor for follow up. We set up a statewide voter fi le with remote access for regional volunteer leaders, which allowed them to input results for canvassing efforts remotely, and then download and print updated voter lists.
- The final phase of the volunteer campaign, GOTV, was really a month-long operation. California allows early voting, starting 29 days ahead of Election Day. From Day 1 of this period, we tracked voters who either appeared on the permanent absentee voter list, or had applied for a vote-by-mail ballot. Those who were identified as persuadable received additional volunteer and direct mail contacts. Definite Yes on 8 voters were reminded to return their ballots as early as possible. The effort paid off, as the early returns reported on Election Night—which consisted of votes cast before Election Day—showed us with a commanding 57 percent to 43 percent lead.
- Fundraising was also a critical activity of this early period, the success of which enabled us to ultimately exceed our initial voter contact objectives. By this time, leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints had endorsed Prop 8 and joined the campaign executive committee. Even though the LDS were the last major denomination to join the campaign, their members were immensely helpful in early fundraising, providing much-needed contributions while we were busy organizing Catholic and Evangelical fundraising efforts.
There's more, but I wanted to give some key points from the article. It's an interesting read.
Thanks to Queerty for posting
Ongina Shares a Personal Secret
GOP Chair Michael Steele Thinks Civil Unions are Crazy to Consider
Michael Steele is not taking the progressive steps as the new GOP leader. Just this Sunday, he went on Mike Gallagher's radio show and stated his views about civil unions.
GALLAGHER: Is this a time when Republicans ought to consider some sort of alternative to redefining marriage and maybe in the road, down the road to civil unions. Do you favor civil unions?
STEELE: No, no no. What would we do that for? What are you, crazy? No. Why would we backslide on a core, founding value of this country? I mean this isn’t something that you just kind of like, “Oh well, today I feel, you know, loosey-goosey on marriage.” […]
But don't take it from me, you can hear it here
We're Having a Party in Chris Buttars' Honor
Sen. Chris Buttars is dumb and truly afraid of us. This is a man who believes that we are as dangerous as Muslim radicals and... the "greatest threat to America."Love that title.
Anyway, since Buttars spoke his mind in a little documentary, he lost his chairmanship and membership in the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Judicial Confirmation Committee. And he's catching Hell from his GOP brothers.
But not everyone showering hate on him, some folks look at his foolishness as a reason to celebrate. Michael Mueller has co-planned a party in Jackass' honor. It will be called, "Buttarsapalooza" and it going down this Saturday on the Utah Capitol's south lawn. The event will also cover economic recession, racial injustice and environmental crises, as well as LGBT issues.
Maybe Chris will be there in full drag.

NAACP says Prop 8 is WRONG
I knew Benjamin wouldn't let me down.
In lieu of their 100th anniversary, the NAACP said they were going to make some changes...starting with a strong statement about Prop 8. Benjamin and NAACP national board chair Julian Bond sent a letter to legislative leaders pushing the passage of House Resolution 5 and Senate Resolution 7, to make Prop 8 unconstitutional.
Benjamin said:
“The NAACP’s mission is to help create a society where all Americans have equal protection and opportunity under the law. Our mission statement calls for the ‘equality of rights of all persons.’ Prop. 8 strips same-sex couples of a fundamental freedom, as defined by the California State Supreme Court. In so doing, it poses a serious threat to all Americans. Prop 8 is a discriminatory, unprecedented change to the California Constitution that, if allowed to stand, would undermine the very purpose of a constitution and courts–assuring equal protection and opportunity for all and safeguarding minorities from the tyranny of the majority.”
Hopefully this will remind folks that Black folks supports the gays.
Horrific Art from The Home
Bloody Disgusting has an awesome art piece from the upcoming Horror flick, The Home. I'm very interested, especially from this pic above.
Just love it. This picture is giving me so much to think about.

Bobby Jindal is worst choice for the GOP
Perhaps the worst Presidential hopeful, Bobby Jindal, has semi-sealed his fate. This asshole refused the stimulus money that would expanded state unemployment insurance coverage for the people who are suffering in Louisiana.
Why would this cretin do this? Well, he is so worried that expanding unemployment insurance coverage would lead to increased unemployment insurance taxes in the future. But what proof does he have...NONE.
He said: "The federal money in this bill will run out in less than three years for this benefit and our businesses would then be stuck paying the bill. We cannot grow government in an unsustainable way.”
Really...how do you know that, 'Booby'. The money Louisiana has been receiving (for Katrina relief) should have set Louisiana up for financial stability. This stimulus money could get them on a strong path. But no, he wants to set himself up as a strong leader and GOP presidential candidate...And the people of Louisiana has to suffer because of that.
The people need that money! The 9th ward still looks like a holocaust and there are people scattered across the country, still hoping to come home. To deny them of that money is clearly a sh***y thing to do, Booby. This will be one of your biggest mistakes. I hope you can face your people every time you hear about businesses shutting down or houses failing into foreclosure.
But there is hope, Ray Nagin, the mayor of New Orleans, plans on taking the money and applying it to the state. And by law, he can do it:
"He thinks he's been tapped as the up-and-coming Republican. He'll potentially run for it (the presidency) the next time it goes around. So he has a certain vernacular and a certain way he needs to talk right now. I don't think it's going to impede us, because Rep. [James] Clyburn basically said if a governor does not want this money, the legislator can vote to accept the money. I told the governor personally, any dollar he does not want, we will take them gladly."
GOP, if you want to get ahead...drop Booby!

WHAT IF: Neil Marshall wrote, directed and produced the Friday the 13th reboot
Okay, Okay I need to get over it. The movie is done and I didn't care for it to see it again. But after watching the The Descent the other day, I thought...What if they tapped Neil Marshall to write, produce and direct the Friday the 13th remix.
So why Neil? Well, why not. His work for Dog Soldiers and The Descent is clearly breathtaking and wonderful. His ability to create fear and horror is phenomenal. The care he takes in pushing limits and challenge our darkest fears is rarely seen in today's Horror movies.
Also he's pretty good with action flicks, Doomsday was okay but still a solid film. I think that if he made F13, the action and the thrills would have been a whole lot better. I believe he would have made Jason a very dark killing machine. He would have been a scary legend in the woods, something to be feared instead of something to be giggled at (thanks Michael Bay).
Neil has impeccable vision and creativity. Maybe if the studio was serious about Jason's return, they would have chosen an artist that could have taken this reboot to the next level. Please, if you haven't seen Dog Soldiers and The Descent, see them soon. Neil should be considered for many Horror flicks to come.
Interesting Quote: Schwarzenegger
"Well, Governor Sanford says that he does not want to take the federal stimulus package money. And I'll say to him, I'll take it. I'm more than happy to take his money or any other governor in this country that doesn't want to take this money. I'll take it, because we in California need it. I think it's a terrific package. I think if you ask a thousand people for their opinion, what is their ideal stimulus package, you will have a thousand different answers.
So everyone's is a little different. I think he's done a great job and I think California benefits tremendously from that $80 billion of tax benefits there, for around $35 billion. There are other advantages: $45 billion of money that go to transportation, to education, to health care, all those different areas. There's even some money that could benefit our revenues or, I should say, our budget itself...."

Question of the Day
We all have that one guy who would've made our lives super bright if they would've turned our way in high school.
I'm sure we can think about that one dreamy boy that fulfilled our fantasies in class, in the gym and definitely at home.
Hell, I fell so hard for my crush/good friend, I followed him to college.
So my question is...Who was the guy that really melted your butter in high school? You don't have to give names, just the stories.

Formula for a Hoax
This is Moo-donna's plan to be relevant again...
Because she is adding another leg to her tour, she needs to draw attention. So to move on from the divorce and the failed CD, Hard Splenda, she hires Jesus to be eye candy.
And it works, because the gays are lusting after him, meaning she will consistently in the Gay world for another year.
This mess also helps Jesus to get noticed too and he will be in every fashion mag and runway.
Thus the deal is sealed.
The perfect Hoax
State Sen. Paul Koering needs to Fire his aide
Lordy Lord this man needs a drink. Koering's Aide or his legislative assistant, Ken Swecker must've been rejected or got some jizz in his eye to send this letter to concerned citizens.
Check it out
"My name is Ken Swecker, Senator Koering's Legislative Assistant. Senator Koering and I both would like to respond to the e-mails we've been receiving regarding his intention to not vote in favor of Senate File 120. I am currently responding to the e-mails to give you the Senator's home phone number so that you might call him over the weekend and speak with him personally on the matter. This much he asked me to do.
To add to that, as a personal statement, is to say that SF 120 is something that the majority of the People of Senate District 12, the People that he was elected to represent, do not favor this piece of legislation. In case you have forgotten, we are a government of the People, by the People, and for the People. He was not elected serve his personal interests. I personally believe that instead of sending e-mails full of threats and hateful words you should take his example to heart and congratulate him on being a legislator who cares more about what the People of his district want than what he may want personally. You and I both know that this is a rare quality to find, and just because this is contrary to how you wish for him to vote, you must remember and respect he is here to represent the interests of his rural Minnesota constituents who voted him into office. As a constituent of his myself, I am happy to see him take non-personal votes on several issues. After all, I would not want another politician taking another vote that would serve his or her personal interests more so than the People's, would you?
I can testify all day long about how much Senator Koering cares for the People of Senate District 12. He ran three consecutive times, being defeated the first two, and why did he put himself through so much hard work? Do you think it was because he needed another job? Absolutely not! He did it because he believed he was the best person to serve the People that he calls neighbors, friends, and family. And especially now, in a time like this, we are being bogged down with this completely pointless issue. There are People in Morrison and Crow Wing Counties, and across the State who are losing their jobs, their homes, their insurance, and were you to ask them if this is an issue that should take one second of precedent over these conditions they're facing every day, do you believe, do you honestly believe that they would say to you, 'Yes, please, waste the time of the State Legislature with a piece of legislation that will not help, but in fact, overshadow the current situation we're living in? Please, waste their time with this piece of legislation while I tell my son and daughter that mom and dad aren't hungry tonight?'
I know very well that you will respond to this e-mail of mine with some probably quirky, snide, and very thoughtless comment that will make me out to be a bad person and threaten the Senator even more just as most of the absolutely tactless and disrespectful e-mails we've received have been written, but really, don't waste your time. We'll just put your e-mail where it belongs, in the trash.
The Senator's home number is 218-829-0544
He's free on the weekends.Very Sincerely, every word of it,
Ken Swecker
P.S. I hope you do not believe that this e-mail was written specific to the one that you sent, this is a blanket e-mail, being sent to everyone who has e-mailed us on this issue and I've already wasted too much time in responding to you. Good day.

New York Post's Half-Assed Apology about the Monkey Cartoon
Look at this...
Wednesday's Page Six cartoon - caricaturing Monday's police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut - has created considerable controversy.
It shows two police officers standing over the chimp's body: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill," one officer says.
It was meant to mock an ineptly written federal stimulus bill.
Period.
But it has been taken as something else - as a depiction of President Obama, as a thinly veiled expression of racism.
This most certainly was not its intent; to those who were offended by the image, we apologize.
However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past - and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback.
To them, no apology is due.
Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon - even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.
That's their apology...BTW

Question of the Day
Gays, Frats and Drama on Campus
Here's a letter in the Daily Trojan about an incident that's slowly growing into something big on campus.
IFC demonstrates discrimination I would like to share my experiences participating in Spring Rush 2009. On my fifth and final day rushing Alpha Gamma Omega, two AGO brothers confronted me about my sexuality. That is, two AGO brothers confronted, questioned and attacked my sexuality. Although I was honest with them about my being gay, I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable. From these conversations, it became inescapably clear that AGO would not extend a bid to me because I am gay, an instance of blatant homophobia.
As a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community at USC, I am appalled by the actions of these two AGO members, especially considering USC’s national recognition as an LGBT-friendly university. This experience has been an extremely painful one for me, leaving me with real feelings of inadequacy. I have still have not fully recovered from the shock of what I experienced.
Below is a brief description of the incident:
AGO Brother #1 and I were talking about how the bid process works. He asked me about my relationship with God. I told him I learn things every day, among other things. He further questioned me by asking what I learned. He said something about my involvement in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Assembly and how that wouldn’t work well with being in AGO. I told him I never was in GLBTA. He asked me if I was gay. I said yes. He asked me how that factored into my relationship with God. I explained how it used to be a struggle and how it isn’t anymore. He said that people base their relationship with God on their relationship with other people.
AGO Brother #2 came into the conversation and took me to his room. He closed the door and proceeded to tell me how he struggled with his sexuality since he was a child. He asked me about my relationship with God. I told him what I told AGO Brother #1. He told me that he entered the fraternity a “broken man” and how the fraternity has helped him to improve. He also said that the fraternity is not affirming of homosexuality, because they are Christians and follow the scripture. He also said that since tomorrow is bid night, they want to know how my relationship with God is. He asked me what my thoughts were. I said that I wanted to leave. He wanted to show me out the back door so no one could see me leave but I said no. I grabbed my umbrella from under the couch in the common room where people were “worshipping” and left.
From this incident, I hope the blatant homophobia is acknowledged. In trying to resolve my issue privately with the Interfraternity Council, I wrote to the IFC Judicial Board and met with them twice.
I asked them for assistance with the following three things:
- An IFC investigation of this incident coordinated by the IFC Judicial branch.
- AGO leadership must admit their two brothers acted wrongly in this situation, and the organization as a whole should take full responsibility for what happened. In addition, the two men involved must issue a written apology to me noting their discrimination.
- AGO should work with the IFC Judicial branch and Diversity Encouragement Council to institute an intervention strategy to prevent a situation like this from happening again.
After hearing both sides of the story, the executive vice president of Judicial Affairs notified me that they would not help me with my requests. No apology or admission of any wrongdoing was given to me from either the IFC or AGO. He told me that the IFC Judicial Board did not think any discriminatory actions occurred, although they thought the remarks were insensitive. He said I was unsure of how the rush process worked. The only ruling that IFC made was to require the two brothers who approached me to attend Diversity Encouragement Council meetings. He did not give me a formal decision on paper, instead choosing to tell me in person. To add insult to injury, I was told that my case would not be recorded, completely diminishing the gravity of my case.
The day after I received the decision from IFC, an AGO alumnus who is back at USC taking pre-med classes approached me. He waited for me at my workplace to tell me that I would not get the results that I want by going through the administration. He also felt the need to share a Bible verse about mercy and forgiveness with me. While I can’t say who sent him, I think it is safe to assume that he came to my workplace to stop me from pursuing my issue further.
With everything that has transpired, I still feel that I deserve the three items I originally requested from the IFC. As a council that regards itself as “one of the most diverse, exciting and well-respected systems in the country,” IFC needs to reconsider how homophobia fits into that definition. I am both frustrated and frightened by the ignorance and disrespect that was expressed in dealing with my situation.
With all the diversity that exists at USC, why is integration so hard? Bureaucratic systems such as the IFC certainly do not help, and are part of the problem. The IFC and AGO will both say that they are not homophobic and are accepting of the LGBT population on campus, but that could not be further from the truth. In fact, during the IFC hearing, an AGO leader told me they have several members who are “dealing” with their homosexuality. What does that even mean? My experience is only one of many homophobic incidents I’ve heard of in fraternities on campus. Despite what anyone might say, or any exceptions to the rule, there is a palpable anti-gay attitude within the IFC, evident especially in the fact that they condoned what happened to me.
My fellow Trojans, I shared my experience and anger to hopefully revitalize you to speak up whenever you see something discriminatory happen. I am currently working with USG Diversity Affairs to settle my issue, and I will not give up until I get what I deserve.
We, as the LGBT and ally population on campus, need to work together to ensure that no one is constrained in what they can achieve at USC.
I can't say much, yet (mostly because I know the student and a colleague is involved). But once more is revealed, I will be blogging.

California's house judiciary committee ain't feeling Prop 8
Good news, y'all. California's house judiciary committee passed a resolution opposing Proposition 8 this week. According to the committee, the ballot initiative to end our marriages and possible marriages is "improper revision of the California constitution."
Great, now the next step...repealing Prop 8. Which is coming up soon; the California Supreme Court will hear all arguments about Prop 8 on March 5.

Interesting Quote: State Sen. Paul Koering
“I think some of the gay activists will be upset with me for this, but sometimes I think an agenda is pushed so far and so fast that people have no alternative but to push back. And I think that sometimes you have to move slowly.”
Koering, who's openly gay, responding to why he won't vote for legalizing same-sex marriage in Minnesota.
Bang, Bang...the Last of 3 Gay Rights Bills were shot Down in Utah
Utah was going for the gold trying to get 3 gay rights bills passed. But in the end, they were not successful.
A legislative committee shot down the Common Ground Initiative's ideas of equality for Utah. Here's the damage for HB160:
HB160 received support from couples — straight and gay — but ultimately did not win any Republican votes Wednesday. HB160, however, took hits from opponents, who said the bill was "unnecessary" and, as they argued with other bills in the gay-rights initiative, would pave the way for same-sex marriage in Utah.
The other 2 bills didn't fair well either. Some believe that the full page ad sparked too much drama and fear in the community. And others felt like it was a decisive ploy. But no worries, lawmakers who supported the bills are coming back for another round next year.
GLASS needs our Support
They are trying to get out of this mess but it's seems to be a uphill climb. Here's more from Pam's site about the issue
This would the perfect time for our gay community to come together and raise money and awareness about this matter. I can't help but to think about Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo."This is a world-class disaster," DeCrescenzo told me by phone, noting that GLASS just became the first licensed LGBT adoption agency in the country. Their primary program is providing group homes for 40 LGBT 15-17 year olds, and transitional living for 25 teens between 17-19.
"Where are those kids going to go? The county will tell you they'll place them somewhere. But you tell me - who wants or who knows how to work with trans kids? My guess is that the kids will run away and we'll see them on the streets."
DeCrescenzo says she believes the board filed for Chapter 7 out of fear of their own personal liability because the agency was behind in paying Worker's Comp and with the IRS. But she says an LA County contract check was expected to cover the gap and she could work out a payment plan with the IRS.
Additionally, the reorganization plan would change the group home structure from a "family style" of six beds with two fulltime staff to 12-bed congregate living - hardly ideal but "better than going under."
They raised money to save their youth center, perhaps we can get our best drag queens, talented performers (non-porn), orgainzations and bars to help. We have to protect our LGBT youth.
