#LGBTSuperheroes is making sure All Heroes are Represented
Y'all know I love geek culture, so I was curious about this video I received in my email.
The video is called LGBT Superheroes. Here's a bit more from their press release
Why are LGBT Superheroes missing or desexualised in hollywood blockbusters? Iceman, Mystique, Catwoman and many other well known superheroes are written as LGBT in the comic books, only to then appear as straight when they hit the big screen.
Launching in partnership with MCM Comic Con today and following #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend trending last week, this trailer gives fans the first opportunity to see LGBT superheroes accurately brought to life.
“This project has been been completed created by volunteers,” said Director Mike Buonaiuto. “We hope that we can demonstrate to the studios that there is a huge audience for accurate LGBT portrayal on the big screen, and it won’t deter cinemagoers to buy tickets.”
It's a good start... Needs diversity, but it's a great effort.
My Mini Review of X-Men Apocalypse
I'm not going into details, but this film...
X-Men: Apocalypse wasn't complete trash, but in this day and age of superhero films, it should've been better. The way they portrayed Storm and Psylocke. It was like they had no idea who they are. The were window dressing and frankly, it's disrespectful to their characters and history.
And poor Angel, he was just a pretty model with 10 words to remember. I feel like Brian Singer put him in the film because he was cute. The rest of the film is the same drama over and over again, Professor X, Mystique and Magneto. Why are we still this caught up in these three? And when did Mystique get so damn important?
The whole movie felt discombobulated and unfocused. After 16 years of X-Men films, you would think they could get this right? Nope.
I can't enjoy something that's this broke.
And that's my 2 cents
This Pic of Barbra Streisand
Attention everyone!
When you're a person of a certain status, you might want to remind the world just who the f*ck you are.
This pic of Miss Barbra Streisand does that and then some.
Get into this picture, honey!

Interesting Quote: Barney Frank
So, Bernie Sanders tried to get Barney Frank thrown out of the DNC Convention role. The DNC denied Bernie's request, but Barney had some words for Sanders:
"The Democratic Party. The party that gave this country its first African-American President; the party that is poised to give this country its first woman nominee of a major party, very likely its first woman President; a party chaired by a Jewish woman; a party which features the first openly gay member of the United States Congress on the party's rules committee; isn't "progressive" enough, or inclusive enough, according to a 75 year old straight white male, who "white flighted" his way out of the most ethnically diverse city in the country, to the whitest state in the northeast United States, and who just passed his 1 year anniversary of declaring himself a member of the party, that he thinks that he is the only fit candidate to be the party's nominee for President. A nomination which if he can't secure it by the ballot, has threatened to secure it by lawsuits, and more than just hinted at violence.
Am I getting this right?"

Dallas BBQ Fight lands "Attacker" in Jail
I really don't know how to feel about this.
A New York State Supreme Court jury found Bayna-Lehkiem-El-Amin guilty of attacking Jonathan Snipes and his boyfriend Ethan York-Adams with a chair in Dallas BBQ last year.
I've posted the story then and was concerned with the facts. At the time, it was stated that Bayna-Lehkiem-El-Amin attacked the couple as a hate crime. There were no facts to prove this, just Jonathan's words. Instantly, many gay blogs took his side, even though no evidence supported Jonathan's claims.
Later we learned that Jonathan started the fight with Bayna-Lekheim. Bayna struck back, yes the chair was over doing it, but he was fighting back. But to see that he's going to jail and Jonathan gets nothing for starting the fight is bonkers to me. Because of his drunkenness and stupidity, Jonathan and his man got their asses beat. I'm not condoling violence, but if they would've gone about their business none of this would have happened.
Bayna is now convicted of attempted assault in the first degree, and assault in the second degree. I don't it's fair that Jonathan got nothing.

Trump and Bernie might Debate
On "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Trump said he would debate Senator Bernie Sanders before the California primaries. It seemed like a joke, but he said he would do it if the price was right. Jimmy offered on behalf of of ABC to have the network pay for Trump's part, and give the money to charity.
Soon after that, Bernie Sanders accepted the offer.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. ABC paying for Trump's part is a bit much. They act like he hadn't been an asshole in this election. And Bernie... I can't.
This sensationalism over politics feels cheap and WWE-ish. I hope Hillary stays far from it.
'Wonder Woman' film will have $100 Million Dollar Budget
This is interesting.
Wonder Woman will be the first female led film with $100 million to play with. Also, it's one in few helm by women directors. The other directors are: Kathryn Bigelow for "K-19: The Widow Maker", Lana Wachowski with "Cloud Atlas" and "Jupiter Ascending".
Sadly that's it, hoping to see women of color take on a huge budget like this.

ALICE TV Show Actress Beth Howland has Died
One of my favorite TV characters is gone.
Actress Beth Howland, who played "Vera" on Alice died back in December.
Her husband, actor Charles Kimbrough, said she died of lung cancer in Santa Monica, California. They didn't have a funeral or memorial service at all. According to him, that's what she wanted.
Here's a little more on her life
Howland was born May 28, 1941, in Boston. At 16, she landed a role on Broadway alongside Dick Van Dyke in "Bye Bye Birdie." CBS later noticed Howland on stage in the 1970 production of "Company" and brought her to Hollywood for a bit part on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
Small roles on "The Love Boat" and "Little House on the Prairie" followed before she was cast as Vera Louise Gorman on "Alice," a comedy set in an Arizona greasy spoon diner based on the 1974 Martin Scorcese film, "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore."
Howland earned four Golden Globe nominations during the comedy's 1976-85 run for her performance as the naive Vera. Howland told the AP in a 1979 profile that she was "very shy" and that she saw something of herself in the character.
"I'm a little naive sometimes but not as much as Vera. I guess I'm really a cynic," she said.
After "Alice" ended, Howland largely disappeared from television acting, aside from bit parts on series including "Murder, She Wrote" and "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."
Howland created Tiger Rose Productions with actress Jennifer Warren. The company produced "You Don't Have to Die," a 1988 HBO documentary about a boy's battle against cancer that won an Academy Award for best short-subject documentary.
Howland is survived by a daughter from her previous marriage to actor Michael J. Pollard.
Rest in Peace

Dylann Roof Will Face the Death Penalty for Church Killings
Well, the Justice Department is seeking the death penalty for Dylann Roof.
Dylann committed a racially charged massacre of nine people in a church in Charleston last year. He will face two death penalty trials.

“Following the department’s rigorous review process to thoroughly consider all relevant factual and legal issues, I have determined that the Justice Department will seek the death penalty. The nature of the alleged crime and the resulting harm compelled this decision.”He deserves this

John Carpenter is coming back to the Halloween Franchise
Horror fans!
It's been a while since I've talked about Horror stuff, but this is serious!
John Carpenter, the man who created HALLOWEEN is on board for the next film in the series! Blumhouse is co-producing a new Halloween film with the master of horror.
From their website
Just like its unstoppable villain Michael Myers, it seems the HALLOWEEN film franchise — which launched in 1978 with John Carpenter’s original classic and spawned seven sequels as well as a remake with its own sequel — was destined to come back to life again.I'm excited because John The Carpenter is involved!
We’re thrilled to announce that Michael has found a new home at last — thanks to the efforts of Blumhouse founder/CEO Jason Blum, HALLOWEEN franchise producer Malek Akkad, Miramax and Trancas International Films, who have just announced a team-up of historic proportions to bring a new HALLOWEEN to the big screen.
But hang on for the best part…
Tonight’s press gathering included a surprise appearance by none other than the father of HALLOWEEN himself, John Carpenter, who took the stage to confirm that he’s officially signed onto the new film as Executive Producer and Creative Consultant (Blum describes him as “Godfather” of the project), which bodes very well that the film will bring the franchise back in line with his original vision.
Hillary Clinton Declines Fox News Dem Debate
For some reason, Bernie wanted another debate with Hillary Clinton on Fox News.
Why? Child, I couldn't tell you, but he wanted another one. Well, Hillary got back to him and Fox News... She said no.
Her spokesperson writes:
“We have declined Fox News’ invitation to participate in a debate in California…As we have said previously, we plan to compete hard in the remaining primary states, particularly California, while turning our attention to the threat a Donald Trump presidency poses. We believe that Hillary Clinton's time is best spent campaigning and meeting directly with voters across California and preparing for a general election campaign that will ensure the White House remains in Democratic hands"
I agree, we don't have time for this.

The Billboard Awards Prince Tribute was Trash
I don't know how on God's green earth this happened, but this was a MESS! Who allowed Madonna to do a Prince tribute?
I tried to watch the performance, but it was horrible. Out of all people to do this tribute, they choose her? Prince always said how he loved the particular voices to sing his songs. What happened last night was pure blasphemy.
Madonna sounded like hot garbage and then, they have to nerve to send out Stevie Wonder to help her. The audacity of this tribute was bold and sad. Prince deserved better, we all deserved better. So, if there are any more Prince tributes coming... They better be excellent!
San Diego Gay Men's Chorus were Humiliated at the San Diego Padres Game
This is so crappy!
Over the weekend, I heard about this incident that happened to San Diego Gay Men's Chorus.
At the San Diego Padres game on Saturday. I was asked to sing the Star-Spangled Banner, however when the recording started, it was a voice of a woman singing. The song continued and no one stopped it from playing. Humiliated and embarrassed, the group left the field as they were being taunted with homophobic slurs from the fans.

Nation Split over Trans Inclusive Bathrooms
The country is split over the trans community should be allowed to using public restrooms under their assigned gender.
According to the CBS News/New York Times poll, 46% believe transgender people should be required to use the bathroom corresponding with their birth gender. However 41% thinks they should use the restroom with the gender they identify.
Here's more
The results are largely split along lines of party, ideology, region, and gender.
While 65 percent of Republicans said transgender people should use the bathroom of their gender at birth, 60 percent of Democrats said the opposite. And 49 percent of independents said transgender people should use the bathrooms corresponding with their birth identity, compared to 38 percent who said they should go to the facility with the gender with which they currently identify.
TIME covers Battle of the Bathroom
Coming out this Friday is an amazing piece on the bathroom battle from TIME.
Washington Bureau Chief Michael Scherer gets into the heart of this battle and why the Obama administration took action
From their press release
Scherer writes: “In a divided country, the social battle lines have been drawn once again in our most private of public places. State legislatures have been besieged, and school committees have split. Pastors have become politicized in the pulpit, and the gay-rights lobby has abandoned its past hesitancy to embrace the transgender cause. Courtrooms are filling with legal motions that are certain to end up at the Supreme Court. The fight—political and legal, personal and collective—is just getting going…. Like all great political battles, this one is distinguished by the decision on both sides to commit loudly and completely, to elevate the issue and to force it on the American public…. The 2016 battle over bathrooms is, after all, about far more than public facilities—it’s about gender roles, social change, federalism, physical danger, political polarization and, most strikingly, a breakdown in the ability of anyone in this country to speak across our divides, or appeal to common humanity.”Please check it out, it's going to something that you have to read again.

73 House Republicans are Demanding Answers on Bathroom Directive
So, some members of the GOP thought it would be cute to send our president a letter about the bathroom directive.
You see, when you've lost other battles involving LGBTQ matters, I guess you keep the ball rolling. Anywho, the author of the letter comes from Rep. Mark Walker.
It's addressed to Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Education Secretary John King, and they demand to know why they're making everybody feel unsafe and discomfortable. Here's some of the demands from the letter:
- List all actions that the ED and DOJ, jointly or separately, will take against or regarding a school, school district, or state in which a teacher, school administrator, educator,school contractor, or person volunteering at a school does not comply with this guidance;
- Detail all actions that a school, teacher, school contractor, and person volunteering must take to be in compliance with this guidance;
- Confirm whether ED and DOJ consider this guidance to be legally binding and whether ED and DOJ will report this guidance to Congress;
- Delineate the statutory authority under which ED and DOJ issued this guidance;
- Explain why schools must disregard the privacy, “discomfort,” and emotional strain imposed on other students during use of bathroom, showering, and changing facilities and overnight accommodations as these schools comply with this guidance; and
- Explain to what extent teachers, guidance counselors, school administrators, and parents and guardians of students were consulted regarding the implementation and effect of this
- guidance.
They want a reply by May 30, 2016.

New Video: Mykki Blanco - "High School Never Ends"
If you don't about Mykki, you need to.
Description
Talented, powerful and innovative... get your life with this video
Description
The video for "High School Never Ends," the lead single from Mykki Blanco's as-yet-unannounced new album, is a Shakespearean tragedy of sorts. Directed by Matt Lambert, it tells a non-linear Romeo and Juliet-like tale, replacing "fair Verona" with scenic rural Germany. The video was produced by Iconoclast in collaboration with The FADER and !K7, and it's debuting above.
The new clip, which was filmed gorgeously by Control cinematographer Martin Ruhe, is a heartbreaking story about outsiders—in this case, queer ones. Similar to stories about forbidden romance, it ends with unspeakable violence. It's all set against Mikky's string-heavy new track, which was produced by and features Woodkid.
According to Mykki Blanco and Matt Lambert, the powerful "High School Never Ends" video is also about the ongoing refugee crisis in Europe. “It never once overtly comments on orientation or race, but only ideas of 'us' and 'them,'" said Lambert. “I had once thought Europe was my safe haven from American white supremacy, and how wrong I became," Mykki Blanco added.

FINALLY Senate Confirms Eric Fanning as Army Secretary
Well after eight months of foolishness, Eric Fanning was finally confirmed as the Army secretary, making him the first openly gay leader of any U.S. military service.
The hold up came from Sen. Pat Roberts. He was all in a tizzy over several matters like the closing of Guantanamo Bay's prison, Cuba, and the transfer detainees to the U.S. Later he changed his mind and process moved forward. Congrats to Eric and may he serve with guts and style.
Interesting Quote: Bernie Sanders
Within the last few days there have been a number of criticisms made against my campaign organization. Party leaders in Nevada, for example, claim that the Sanders campaign has a 'penchant for violence.' That is nonsense. Our campaign has held giant rallies all across this country, including in high-crime areas, and there have been zero reports of violence. Our campaign of course believes in non-violent change and it goes without saying that I condemn any and all forms of violence, including the personal harassment of individuals. But, when we speak of violence, I should add here that months ago, during the Nevada campaign, shots were fired into my campaign office in Nevada and apartment housing complex my campaign staff lived in was broken into and ransacked.

President Obama on Trans Students
President Obama spoke to Buzzfeed about why his administration is suing North Carolina's foolish bathroom bill.
Obama kept it simple by speaking about the students
“We’re talking about kids. Anybody who has been in school, in high school, who has been a parent should realize that kids who are sometimes in the minority, kids who have a different sexual orientation or are transgender are subject to a lot of bullying, potentially. They’re vulnerable.”And he's right, they are vulnerable and sadly, powerless. I hope the steps they are taking helps trans kids have a normal teen life. This bathroom craps is pointless and messy. We need to just get over it.

This Woman walks through Target with Her Family to Protest Transgender Bathroom Policy - WATCH
This is becoming an ongoing trend with these religious zealots. This mother of 12 is saying:
“Attention Target customers,” she yelled. “Do not be deceived, Target would have you believe with their Mother’s Day displays that they love mothers and children. This is a deception. This is not love, and they’ve proven it by opening their bathrooms to perverted men. I’m a mother of 12 and I’m very disgusted by this wicked practice.”
Interesting Quote: President Obama
From the President's Commencement Address at Rutgers University
The "good old days" weren't that great. Yes, there have been some stretches in our history where the economy grew much faster, or when government ran more smoothly. There were moments when, immediately after World War II, for example, or the end of the Cold War, when the world bent more easily to our will. But those are sporadic, those moments, those episodes. In fact, by almost every measure, America is better, and the world is better, than it was 50 years ago, or 30 years ago, or even eight years ago.
And by the way, I'm not -- set aside 150 years ago, pre-Civil War -- there's a whole bunch of stuff there we could talk about. Set aside life in the '50s, when women and people of color were systematically excluded from big chunks of American life. Since I graduated, in 1983 -- which isn't that long ago -- I'm just saying. Since I graduated, crime rates, teenage pregnancy, the share of Americans living in poverty -- they're all down. The share of Americans with college educations have gone way up. Our life expectancy has, as well. Blacks and Latinos have risen up the ranks in business and politics. More women are in the workforce. They're earning more money -- although it's long past time that we passed laws to make sure that women are getting the same pay for the same work as men.

READ the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice Release Joint Guidance to Help Schools Ensure the Civil Rights of Transgender Students
Yes! Early today, the Obama administration today released guidance to all public school districts on allowing transgender students to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity,
Read below
Read the rest after the jump
The U.S. Departments of Education and Justice released joint guidance today to help provide educators the information they need to ensure that all students, including transgender students, can attend school in an environment free from discrimination based on sex.
Recently, questions have arisen from school districts, colleges and universities, and others about transgender students and how to best ensure these students, and non-transgender students, can all enjoy a safe and discrimination-free environment.
Under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 schools receiving federal money may not discriminate based on a student's sex, including a student's transgender status. The guidance makes clear that both federal agencies treat a student's gender identity as the student's sex for purposes of enforcing Title IX.
"No student should ever have to go through the experience of feeling unwelcome at school or on a college campus," said U.S. Secretary of Education John B. King Jr. "This guidance further clarifies what we've said repeatedly - that gender identity is protected under Title IX. Educators want to do the right thing for students, and many have reached out to us for guidance on how to follow the law. We must ensure that our young people know that whoever they are or wherever they come from, they have the opportunity to get a great education in an environment free from discrimination, harassment and violence."
"There is no room in our schools for discrimination of any kind, including discrimination against transgender students on the basis of their sex," said Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch. "This guidance gives administrators, teachers, and parents the tools they need to protect transgender students from peer harassment and to identify and address unjust school policies. I look forward to continuing our work with the Department of Education - and with schools across the country - to create classroom environments that are safe, nurturing, and inclusive for all of our young people."
NOM is Short on Cash
The hate mega group NOM is really scraping at the bottom of the bowl. They are no longer making money and the desperate emails are coming in
Dear vik,
I'm writing to ask you for your immediate help with a developing problem. As we approach the middle of the month, NOM is more than $10,000 short of meeting our fundraising needs for May, and that does not include the increased expenditures to carry out the enormously successful Fax for FADA and Say No to Target programs we recently launched.
As a result we have a big hole in our budget that we must immediately address, or risk imperiling critical programs that are making a difference in promoting the truth of marriage and protecting the rights of individuals like you and me to live out our beliefs about marriage without fear of being punished by the government.
That's why I am asking you to make an immediate financial contribution of $25, $50, $100, $250 or even $500 or more to help us meet this current need. If you are able to make a more generous contribution, I ask you to prayerfully consider doing so. Whatever you can afford — whether it be $10 or $1,000 or more — please act today.
If we are not able to raise the funds to erase this budget deficit, we will have little choice but to cut back on programs, which is something I definitely do not want to do.
As you know, we are in a critical period that requires our full efforts to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities. The American people have responded generously to our Fax for FADA campaign, and we've generated over 100,000 faxes to members of Congress demanding that they bring the First Amendment Defense Act to a vote. Our work is making a difference and we expect this legislation to be heard by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee soon.
So good, so good.
Jack'd strikes back at the "No Fats, No Fems" Tee with "No Bullies, No Bigots"
Jack'd is a gay "dating" app like Grindr, Scuff, Muff and Tuff. But unlike them, Jack'd wants to do more.
After the messy Marek + Richard, ‘No Fats No Fems’ T-shirt, Jack'd decided to counterattack their hate message:
Jack'd marketing director Kevin Letourneau stated:
“Gay men are three times as likely to have an eating disorder, twice as likely to be diagnosed with depression and anxiety, and suffer a suicide rate double those of other men. Words matter. They have consequences. That is why we were disheartened to see Marek + Richard perpetuate the toxic put-down, ‘No Fats No Fems,’ in their new line of apparel.I appreciate their stance on this. It's nice to see this app take initiative to make change.
As the youngest, and most diverse community of gay men around the world, we see it as our responsibility to create a safe space to connect, and empower our generation to stamp out exclusionary phrases from our vocabulary once and for all.
We appreciate the conversation this has sparked, but retroactive satire is not enough. All proceeds from our new #NoBulliesNoBigots apparel will go to support The Trevor Project, an organization focused on suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth. For every purchase, Jack’d will commit a dollar-for-dollar matching donation.

Well, GQ has given him a cover and some summertime pics. GQ writes:

For the June issue, GQ's Devin Friedman went to Miami with Rob to learn how to live Gronkishly, and his schooling included: hanging with Gronk-bros Mojo and Goon, talking about signature sex moves, dealing with a sea of expectant fans, and mastering the tao of Party Rock. "Gronkowski seems to exist in a permanent shower of champagne spray and nightclub-foam-party foam," writes Friedman, "all without ever seeming like a creepy douchebag."

North Carolina Dems Introduce Bill to Replace HB2
Chris Sgro |
Well, look what happens when justice comes calling.
North Carolina Representatives Chris Sgro, Pricey Harrison, Susan Fisher, and Kelly Alexander introduced a comprehensive LGBT non-discrimination bill to replace HB2. This bill will completely protect LGBT citizens of North Carolina.
However, NC GOP ain't done yet. They are demanding the Department of Education to say if they will take away funding from public schools and universities. These jokers... Anywho, I'm sure by next week this will be over and HB2 will be nothing but ashes.
What Loretta Lynch said
This piece for Loretta's speech was powerful and a huge reminder of how far we have come.
"Let me also speak directly to the transgender community itself. Some of you have lived freely for decades. Others of you are still wondering how you can possibly live the lives you were born to lead. But no matter how isolated or scared you may feel today, the Department of Justice and the entire Obama Administration wants you to know that we see you; we stand with you; and we will do everything we can to protect you going forward. Please know that history is on your side. This country was founded on a promise of equal rights for all, and we have always managed to move closer to that promise, little by little, one day at a time. It may not be easy – but we’ll get there together."It gave me a bit of hope about the future and how we can move past this mess. The backwards beliefs are nothing but potholes, silly and demeaning fodder in our lives. Once we stop believing in this crap, we can get better and be better.
Interesting Quote: North Carolina AG Roy Cooper
“The governor is pouring gas on the fire that he lit by putting billions of dollars of education funding on the line. Instead of doing what’s right for our state, he’s doubling down on what he knows he did wrong. Enough is enough. Set politics aside and undo this discriminatory law now.”

We are here to announce a significant law enforcement action regarding North Carolina's Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act, also known as House Bill 2.
The North Carolina General Assembly passed House Bill 2 in special session on March 23 of this year. The bill sought to strike down an anti-discrimination provision in a recently-passed Charlotte, North Carolina, ordinance, as well as to require transgender people in public agencies to use the bathrooms consistent with their sex as noted at birth, rather than the bathrooms that fit their gender identity. The bill was signed into law that same day. In so doing, the legislature and the governor placed North Carolina in direct opposition to federal laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex and gender identity. More to the point, they created state-sponsored discrimination against transgender individuals, who simply seek to engage in the most private of functions in a place of safety and security - a right taken for granted by most of us.
Last week, our Civil Rights Division notified state officials that House Bill 2 violates federal civil rights laws. We asked that they certify by the end of the day today that they would not comply with or implement House Bill 2's restriction on restroom access. An extension was requested by North Carolina and was under active consideration. But instead of replying to our offer or providing a certification, this morning, the state of North Carolina and its governor chose to respond by suing the Department of Justice. As a result of their decisions, we are now moving forward.
Today, we are filing a federal civil rights lawsuit against the state of North Carolina, Governor Pat McCrory, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and the University of North Carolina. We are seeking a court order declaring House Bill 2's restroom restriction impermissibly discriminatory, as well as a statewide bar on its enforcement. While the lawsuit currently seeks declaratory relief, I want to note that we retain the option of curtailing federal funding to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and the University of North Carolina as this case proceeds.
This action is about a great deal more than just bathrooms. This is about the dignity and respect we accord our fellow citizens and the laws that we, as a people and as a country, have enacted to protect them - indeed, to protect all of us. And it's about the founding ideals that have led this country - haltingly but inexorably - in the direction of fairness, inclusion and equality for all Americans.
This is not the first time that we have seen discriminatory responses to historic moments of progress for our nation. We saw it in the Jim Crow laws that followed the Emancipation Proclamation. We saw it in fierce and widespread resistance to Brown v. Board of Education. And we saw it in the proliferation of state bans on same-sex unions intended to stifle any hope that gay and lesbian Americans might one day be afforded the right to marry. That right, of course, is now recognized as a guarantee embedded in our Constitution, and in the wake of that historic triumph, we have seen bill after bill in state after state taking aim at the LGBT community. Some of these responses reflect a recognizably human fear of the unknown, and a discomfort with the uncertainty of change. But this is not a time to act out of fear. This is a time to summon our national virtues of inclusivity, diversity, compassion and open-mindedness. What we must not do - what we must never do - is turn on our neighbors, our family members, our fellow Americans, for something they cannot control, and deny what makes them human. This is why none of us can stand by when a state enters the business of legislating identity and insists that a person pretend to be something they are not, or invents a problem that doesn't exist as a pretext for discrimination and harassment.
Let me speak now to the people of the great state, the beautiful state, my state of North Carolina. You've been told that this law protects vulnerable populations from harm - but that just is not the case. Instead, what this law does is inflict further indignity on a population that has already suffered far more than its fair share. This law provides no benefit to society - all it does is harm innocent Americans.
Instead of turning away from our neighbors, our friends, our colleagues, let us instead learn from our history and avoid repeating the mistakes of our past. Let us reflect on the obvious but often neglected lesson that state-sanctioned discrimination never looks good in hindsight. It was not so very long ago that states, including North Carolina, had signs above restrooms, water fountains and on public accommodations keeping people out based upon a distinction without a difference. We have moved beyond those dark days, but not without pain and suffering and an ongoing fight to keep moving forward. Let us write a different story this time. Let us not act out of fear and misunderstanding, but out of the values of inclusion, diversity and regard for all that make our country great.
Let me also speak directly to the transgender community itself. It may not be easy - but we'll get there together.
I want to thank my colleagues in the Civil Rights Division who have devoted many hours to this case so far, and who will devote many more to seeing it through. At this time, I'd like to turn things over to Vanita Gupta, whose determined leadership on this and so many other issues has been essential to the Justice Department's work.

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory files a Lawsuit against the DOJ
We’re taking the Obama admin to court. They're bypassing Congress, attempting to rewrite law & policies for the whole country, not just NC.— Pat McCrory (@PatMcCroryNC) May 9, 2016
Our lawsuit seeks to ensure that NC continues to receive federal funding until the courts clarify federal law & resolve this national issue.— Pat McCrory (@PatMcCroryNC) May 9, 2016
So what you see is a foolish attempt to keep a unconstitutional law alive/ Pat and the state Department of Public Safety Secretary Frank Perry had the nerve to file a suit against the Justice Department. They claim that the DOJ created a “radical reinterpretation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.”
Girl, this is a dumb ass tactic that I know Loretta Lynch is looking them like "Bitches, please."
This suit continues to waste taxpayers money and possibly, preparing Pat's exit out of the Governor's seat.
Let watch as this suit fails.
The Men in my Life
So, I have guys that run through my head and heart. They are men that I've been intimate with in one form or another.
Guy 1 is someone I've met after my relationship ended in 2013. He's a good guy, smart, works for the city. He's a passionate lover and always considerate of me. But, he's young... 8 years younger than me. It's not a huge deal, but I have this nagging feeling that he doesn't know what he wants. So, I keep my distance. However, it's doesn't work. We see each other off and on... When we do see each other, it's amazing.
But I still keep my distance.
Guy 2 is a sweetheart, but broken. We met a year ago, I was looking for a job and he just ended a relationship. We became close very fast, hanging out a lot on the weekends. He has the sweetest eyes and a sexy smile. It took us a year to have our first kiss. We were riding around LA, talking about nothing. We got some food and parked in the Hills. He admitted that he found me sexy and I told him I would love to kiss him. It was the sweetest kiss... pure and honest. He wasn't ready to move forward and I accepted that. We still hang out and I still want to kiss him again.
I think he does too.
Guy 3 has me in a tizzy. We met 3 years ago online. We've stayed in touch and in April, we decided to spend a long weekend together. What happened that weekend knocked me on a loop. He was everything I needed. He gave me hope that some guys are good and not jerks. He's completely honest, caring and highly sexual. Sex with him is so good. Sadly, he's in SF and I'm in LA. We still talk almost everyday and we're planning a trip together.
If I had to choose among all 3 guys, it would be him.
Interesting Quote: Ed Rendell
“I think it’s gonna be a great convention, but of course the key to it is the Sanders people — Bernie’s gonna have his name placed in nomination, we’re gonna have a roll call, there’s gonna be a demonstration in support of Bernie, he’s gonna lose the roll call. His supporters have to behave and not cause trouble. And I think they will and I think Sen. Sanders will send them a strong message.”source

Interesting Quote: Paul Krugman
Finally, I can almost guarantee that we’ll see attempts to sanitize the positions and motives of Trump supporters, to downplay the racism that is at the heart of the movement and pretend that what voters really care about are the priorities of D.C. insiders — a process I think of as “centrification.”
That is, after all, what happened after the rise of the Tea Party. I’ve seen claims that Tea Partiers were motivated by Wall Street bailouts, or even that the movement was largely about fiscal responsibility, driven by voters upset about budget deficits.
In fact, there was never a hint that any of these things mattered; if you followed the actual progress of the movement, it was always about white voters angry at the thought that their taxes might be used to help Those People, whether via mortgage relief for distressed minority homeowners or health care for low-income families.

Colton Haynes comes out as Gay
Teen Wolf and Arrow star Colton Haynes comes out in an EW interview
EW reports:
But while social media has helped his career, it’s also gotten him into some trouble. Case in point: A Tumblr post in January sparked an Internet firestorm after a fan commented on Haynes’ “secret gay past,”regarding racy modeling photos Haynes took while underage. Without giving it much thought, Haynes offered a coy reply: “Was it a secret?” The comment was picked up by bloggers as his coming out – but it wasn’t. Not yet. There were a lot of talk about his sexuality, but I'm happy he addressed it on his own terms.
“It was a complete shock. I wasn’t ready to be back in the headlines,” says Haynes, who is in fact gay but has never publicly addressed his sexuality (and, like many others on his path, took advice early in his career to subdue it). “I should have made a comment or a statement, but I just wasn’t ready. I didn’t feel like I owed anyone anything. I think in due time, everyone has to make those decisions when they’re ready, and I wasn’t yet. But I felt like I was letting people down by not coming forward with the rest of what I should have said.”
