OutServe-SLDN Comments on Trump Tweets Regarding Transgender Service Members


(WASHINGTON) July 26, 2017 – OutServe-SLDN issued the following statement today, in response to Donald Trump’s tweetstorm on open military service by transgender individuals.

"In his latest example of pseudo-policy-by-twitter, Donald Trump has shown blatant disregard for transgender service members who have been serving openly since October 2016. The disruptive burden to the military comes from indecision in a White House which itself is not focused on victory if it’s targeting service members. The readiness, effectiveness, and lethality of the Armed Services comes from the commitment of our troops – not the vagaries and bigotry of exclusionary policies.

We are committed to transgender service members. We are going to fight for them as hard as they are fighting for the country. And we’re going to start by taking the fight to Donald Trump in the Federal Court"

Well, that was a lie and if you believed it, you were stupid.

Today, trump tweeted:

There's no reasoning behind it. There's no research to even support this. However, he felt that this was a major issue. This is pure bigotry.

Nike's Ad feature Chris Mosier, the First US Transgender Athlete

Chris Mosier began competing in the duathlon and triathlon in 2009 after he completed his first marathon, because he needed a greater challenge. “For me, triathlon is a true challenge because it is three different disciplines in one sport,” Mosier explains. “Triathlon is [also] a challenge for me because swimming is my weakest sport, and it’s the biggest mental challenge.”

At the age of four years old, Mosier became aware that his gender identity (male) and biological sex (female) didn’t align. Competing in female athletics, he didn’t feel as though he was competing as his authentic self. This truth has propelled Mosier on his journey.

“Everything that I’ve done in the last five, six years since I started to transition, has been with [a] “Just Do It” mindset,” he explains. “I didn’t know if I would be competitive against men; I just did it. Every success that I’ve had since then has shown me that anything is really possible. By not stopping myself, not limiting myself and just really going for it, I’ve learned a lot about myself and also had the opportunity to further the conversation on trans inclusion in sports.”

In 2015, with a sprint duathlon time of 01:02:45.48 at the national championships — earning him a seventh place finish in the male 35-39 group — Mosier became the first openly trans athlete to earn a spot on a U.S. national team. Mosier’s feat in the 5K-run, 20K-bike, 2.5K-run race led him to challenge the international transgender competition policy, which resulted in the creation and adoption of new, more-inclusive guidelines for participation of transgender athletesi>

Right now in North Carolina, the Republican General Assembly leaders are holding a special session to repeal Charlotte’s LGBT Rights Law. They claim to be speaking for constituents and conservative activists about provisions related to trans folks and restrooms.

It's pure mess, but you know how it is. Dumb folks are afraid of everything.

Trans Woman named White House's Top Liaison to the LGBT community

Congrats to Raffi Freedman-Gurspan. The White House just named her the executive branch’s top liaison to the LGBT community! She is also trans, making history in this role.

As a top liaison, Raffi will be working with all of the major LGBT groups, connecting them to the White House. Hell, I want to do that. It's sounds sublime.

Another Wachowski comes out as Trans

Andy Wachowski from the Matrix fame, is now Lilly.

Lilly has come out as trans and released a statement to the Windy City Times:

So yeah, I’m transgender.

And yeah, I’ve transitioned.

I’m out to my friends and family. Most people at work know too. Everyone is cool with it. Yes, thanks to my fabulous sister they’ve done it before, but also because they’re fantastic people. Without the love and support of my wife and friends and family I would not be where I am today.

But these words, “transgender” and “transitioned” are hard for me because they both have lost their complexity in their assimilation into the mainstream. There is a lack of nuance of time and space. To be transgender is something largely understood as existing within the dogmatic terminus of male or female. And to “transition” imparts a sense of immediacy, a before and after from one terminus to another. But the reality, my reality is that I’ve been transitioning and will continue to transition all of my life, through the infinite that exists between male and female as it does in the infinite between the binary of zero and one. We need to elevate the dialogue beyond the simplicity of binary. Binary is a false idol.

Trans Fitness Model makes History

Trans fitness model Benjamin Melzer just made history.

He recently won the Men’s Health Cover contest in Germany. Benjamin is very well known in the Trans fitness community and very hot. This cover should not only open doors for him, but for other Trans fitness models.

I think they will see him on this cover and realize that they can be there too.

Man charged with Murder of Kiesha Jenkins

Today, Pedro Redding was charged with murder, conspiracy and weapons offenses in the killing of Kiesha Jenkins.

Using an anonymous tip, homicide detectives arrested Pedro Redding on sunday This morning, a judge arraigned Pedro on murder, conspiracy and weapons charges in relation to the killing of Kiesha Jenkins.

Pedro has a history of violence which includes: aggravated assault, weapons charges, drugs and robbery. The judge denied Pedro bail and sent him straight to jail. No word on the other men involved with Kiesha's murder

A Trans Model joins The Real Housewives of Atlanta

The Real Housewives of Atlanta is about to get interesting this upcoming season.

TMZ reports that the cast will have their first trans 'housewife'!

Amiyah Scott will join the ladies for what is setting up to be the best season of the series. As I mentioned earlier, Amiyah is trans and a model. No details on why she was chosen, but I think the rumors of her being romantically linked to artists and rappers helps.

I hope she received well and don't bring too much drama.

Tony Perkins whines about Trans Folks in the Military

If you didn't know, the Secretary of the Air Force is open to transgender military service. So you know, haters are falling out about this. Days ago, Tony had his 2 cents to add:

"Three years into the disaster of open homosexual service, and the Left is already trying to check the next box on its wish list. Of course, we heard the same sound bites in 2011, when the radical Left wanted to throw open the door for homosexuals. Now, deep into the pro-homosexual era, Americans are finally seeing the consequences of that political correctness: sky-high sexual assaults, religious intolerance, record-low morale, and widespread job dissatisfaction. If the administration is interested in letting people serve openly, how about Christians? Or chaplains? While the President has been pulling gays and lesbians out of the closet, he's been shoving men and women of faith in. If this is about pride and tolerance, then it's time to extend that same courtesy to the majority of our service members, who've been living under the administration's dark shadow of religious hostility far too long."

Miami-Dade County passes Anti-Discrimination ordinance

Last night, the Miami-Dade County board of commissioners voted 8-3 to pass an ordinance to prohibit discrimination against person’s gender identity in housing, employment, and public accommodations.

Buzzfeed reports:

Critics came in droves, packing seats at Miami-Dade County Hall and waiting for hours to testify against the ordinance. More than 130 signed up to speak. Pastors, parents, teens, and seniors expressed particular concern that the measure would grant sexual predators a carte blanche to prowl women’s bathrooms. 

“There are cases of the deviants who will take advantage of this,” said Commissioner Esteban Bovo, who represents suburban Miami. He would only support the ordinance if it carved out an exception so it did not apply to transgender people using public bathrooms. “We have to be mindful of a segment of the population, who is probably a majority, who is very concerned with this issue,” he said. “It is a concern for the safety of their family.” 

But in the end, a majority of the commission rejected a bathroom amendment and sided with supporters of the ordinance, who characterized the measure as a basic civil right.
“It’s a scare tactic when we come down to the bathrooms and locker rooms,” said Commissioner Audrey Edmonson, one of the ordinance’s primary co-sponsors. “These are scare tactics.” She also rebutted a common complaint that the ordinance was unnecessary. “When someone has been discriminated against, I don’t care if it is one person, we were elected to defend those people and provide the protection that they need.” 

The ordinance adds transgender people to several protected classes under local law, which includes people of color, people of faith, and homosexuals. The ordinance says religious institutions do not need to accommodate protected classes in noncommercial religious facilities. 

Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez intends to sign the ordinance, mayoral spokesperson Mike Hernández told BuzzFeed News. “He is 100% supportive. The mayor will not veto — it will become law.”

Rest in Peace Yaz'min Shancez

Transwoman Yaz'min Shancez was brutally murdered. She was burned and found behind a dumpster off Fowler Street last Thursday in Fort Myers, FL.

Yesterday, the community held a vigil for her. To friends and family, Yaz'min was a great person and a true friend. She was fighter and a believer... She didn't deserve to die like this. No one does.

However, it's becoming an all too familiar story for Trans women of color. These stories are always hard to hear because they are consistently reminded of the dangers out there. As I always say, PLEASE look after each other and support our Trans family. Yaz'min deserved to live a good long life.

She deserved better.

R. Kelly’s Child Comes Out as Transgender

Musician R. Kelly and my favorite Hollywood Exes star, Drea has a Transgender child.

Their 13-year-old has transitioned from female to male, and he is now known as Jay.

Jay came out to the on Instagram and in the pic above, his mother is very supportive. Here's more in InTouch magazine:

“[My mom] was like, ‘Baby, you know I love you if you were bi, gay, [lesbian], you name it and I would still love you so much,’” he wrote on his Ask.fm page, which is a social platform that allows users to answer anonymously submitted questions.

“She was very proud of me, I was like, ‘Thank you mum for accepting the fact that I’m a transgender.’

“And same with my sister, she told me that she was proud of me, and respects me by calling me handsome and calling me her little brother now, and I love her for that, so you know it was great for me.”

Jay goes on to explain that he still has female organs, and wears a binder on his chest, but hopes that with the help of surgery and testosterone he can truly be comfortable in his own skin.

No word from R. Kelly on his son's transition. But he better be supportive!
