My Top 5 FAIL Moments in Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror in 2011

This year was good for geeks and BAAAD for geeks. We had some ugly setbacks and foolishness in our world. I'm share my top 5 horrible moments.

The Wonder Woman Pilot - For some reason, NBC thought they could take an iconic comic book character and hand her over to a writer with no idea on who WW is. The result? A horrible, HORRIBLE pilot for a possible series. For those who read me, know I was on this like sluts on cocks. And when I saw the pilot, I had to be talked back from the ledge. NBC and DC Comics should've been beaten for that pilot. Beaten with a salted barbwire whip.

The Buffy Reboot - Earlier this year somebody said in some studio, "Let's reboot Buffy, for no ass reason!" The minute that idea was spoke into existence, the geeks revolted. It was considered an abomination, blasphemy in the geek world. Every BTVS cast members was against it and no producer, director or writer wanted to touch it. However, one (semi-unknown) writer did and failed. Now the project is in limbo with S'ym and Magik. I speak for everybody by saying, "Thank GOD!"

Green Lantern - This movie was a fail for 3 reasons: 1. no plot 2. bad CGI and 3. Ryan Reynolds. I know, I know he's cute, but it wasn't enough. The movie went nowhere and failed to capture what most geeks love about the Green Lantern.

Scream 4 - This was an attempt to reboot the series, but all we got was a flawed script and a story that was blah. The movie takes place 10 years later in Woodsboro. Sidney returns and so does the killer or killers. Murders happen and once the truth was revealed, it just went downhill from there. It was good to see Neve Campbell as Sidney, but there was no reason for a fourth movie.

Sucker Punch - Great Hera, this movie was snap mess! It was a 12 year-old boy's wet dream and nightmare rolled into one big ole can of crap. The plot was... What can I say, there was no plot! It was about a girl who could dance, well, it was about female empowerment; no, it was about ninjas and monsters... See? It was a bouillabaisse ideas that just didn't come together. It was a complete and utter FAIL. And waste of time during my Hawaii vacation.

I guess Scream 4 is the Last One

Many thought Scream 4 was going to jumpstart the series again, but the weekend wasn't so kind to my beloved horror storyline.

It made only 19 million, a far cry from the last 2 sequels (each of them made over 30 million). Oh well, it was a good effort.

My Review: Scream 4

The 'Scream' series is very close to my heart. It defined my college years and rebooted the horror scene in the 90s. When I heard about the next story, I was excited and concerned. I wanted to see if the 10 years gap would make the series better, stronger or necessary to be brought back.

After seeing the film, I have to say... I have mixed feelings about it. It was cute, but a little bit campy. Funny, but not scary. In all, I wish for a little bit more from this film.

So, here is my vague bullet point review.
  • The opening scene was cute. They took a lot jab at the Saw series.
  • It was good to see Neve back on deck.
  • The movie hit some good spots, but it quickly became a comedy instead of something scary.
  • The 'teen' looked to stylized, not as normal looking as the original crew.
  • Some of the killings were funny, that's not a good thing.
  • Sidney had the best line in the movie "Don't f**k with the original"
  • The killers were lame and the main reason for killing everyone was also lame.
  • If they were going to break all the rules, the killer(s) should have had no connection to any of the characters.
  • Some of the lines were too campy. These lines could have been taken out.
  • Gale and Dewey still have great chemistry.
  • The story overall was good, not captivating, but good.
  • The neatest thing about the film was the Wes/Kevin power. It's still there.
Again, I have mixed feelings. I liked it and didn't like at the same time. Usually, I watch these movies 3 times in theater... I think I'm good for seeing this film just once.

Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell will be the Celeb Cameos in Scream 4

This is cute, Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell will be the celeb cameos in the upcoming Scream 4 flick.

I wonder how they will die? Or if they die, they could be in Stab 8 or something.

Scream 4 Cast Update

At first, I wasn't excited about the Scream 4 movie. But things are changing a bit, maybe this will be a great flick.

And with this piece of info, I'm starting to feel it a little. HorrorBid revealed the new members of the cast and the roles they will play.

* Lake Bell: will play Duputy Judy Hicks, a police officer who knew Sidney (Campbell) from high school. The casting call described the character as follows: “A police officer, decidedly sexy but a bit off, she knew Sidney from high school. Didn’t make a big enough impression for Sidney to remember her. Likes her boss, Dewey, perhaps a little too much.

* Emma Roberts: will play Jill Kessler, “one of the film’s primary heroines,” a cousin to Neve Campbell’s character in the series. Described as “pretty in an ingenue way. Smart, strong. A little goofy, but she makes it sexy. Full of contradictions, but instantly likeable. Not a mean bone in her body. They’re not close, but Jill is Sidney’s cousin.

* Hayden Panettiere: will play Jill’s best friend, Kirby Reed — a nerdy film geek. Described as “Cute and quirky, was a tomboy until a year ago, now she’s alternative, cool and sexy. Jill’s best friend. She’s a pop culture and horror aficionado.

* Rory Culkin: will play Charlie Walker, a potential love interest for Jill. Here is the character description: “Messy cute. Friends with Jill, Trevor, Kirby, and Olivia. A little cocky, he likens himself to ‘Randy’ from Scream 1 without the nerd part. No such luck, he’s definitely a nerd. May or may not have a crush on Jill. He’d never admit it if he does.

Wes Craven is IN: Scream 4 starts in April

Everybody's in... Wes Craven is back in the Director's seat for Scream 4.
At the Golden Globes MTV spoke with the Arquettes about what was going on with the franchise. David seemed pretty sure about what was happening,

"Yes, Wes [Craven] is in, Neve [Campbell] is in, everyone is in."

However Coutney Cox wasn't exactly as positive as her husband was,
"I know they're trying to make that work," she said, referring to bringing the "Nightmare on Elm Street" creator back on to direct.

"They'll make it work," she said, quickly adding "I hope."

Ooookay. The jury is still out on this.

Sidney Prescott is Back, meaning... Scream 4 is happening (not excited)

Lord, I can't believe this. I was hoping she would say no, but...
The trade reveals that after months of speculation, Neve Campbell has in fact signed on board for Scream 4, joining returning stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette. Scream 4 will start production in April or May as the first of a new trilogy written by series creator Kevin Williamson. The company is in talks with Wes Craven to possibly return to the director's chair.

I guess it's on... Damn. I mean, I loved the movies, but this is not right.

Great Hera... Scream 4?

Why are they doing this?

Scream 4?

Courteney says so:

Courteney Cox, who is set to star in a fourth Scream movie, elaborated on a few details that were revealed by writer Kevin Williamson a couple of days ago about the sequel, which picks up the story 10 years after the events in 2000's Scream 3. Cox will reprise the role of TV reporter Gale Weathers.

"She has a kid now," Cox said in a group interview Saturday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Pasadena, Calif., where she was promoting her ABC show Cougar Town. "She's married to Dewey."

Scream 3 ended with Deputy Dewey (David Arquette, Cox's real-life husband) proposing to local newswoman-turned-true-crime guru Gale. The characters bonded during their investigation of the first Scream murders, through the campus crimes of Scream 2 and the film-within-the-film of Scream 3.

Williamson previously described Scream 4 as the beginning of a new trilogy. Cox has no trepidations about beginning another three films. "No, because [I take things] one day at a time," she said. "But I heard the idea for Scream 4, and it's fantastic."

If she bring back the red highlights, I might be down.

side note: years ago, when I had straight hair, I tried to get those red highlights and my highlights turned gold.

Are y'all ready for SCREAM 4?

Bloody Disgusting reports that Wes Craven and Scream's original writer, Kevin Williamson are on board to do another Scream movie.

They have a secret source that confirms that offers to the original cast: Neve, Courtney, and David have gone out and they're hoping to hear back soon.

There has been rumors, but this is possibly the real deal. I can't imagine what the story will be about, maybe I'll create several ideas on the blog. Yet, my views about this is a little shaky. I was glad it ended at number 3.
