Trump and Sanders win New Hampshire... Oh Well

So, Trump and Sanders won New Hampshire.

Lily White, 4% people of color, full of conservatives and tea party... New Hampshire. The points are good for them both, but look at how the rest of primaries will play out for Bernie via Five Thirty-Eight

For Trump, it's not as clear. Although he won in NH, it wasn't super big. Folks are still not settled on him. Plus Bush, Cruz and Kasich could pull rabbits out of their hats in South Carolina.  So, it's still open in the GOP field... Well, not for Carson, Christie and Carly. They need to bow out gracefully.

Why I Can't with New Hampshire

This is tells me all I need to know about this state.

It's sad, but not surprising

Rep Kyle Tasker wants to Join Black Caucus because He's a fan of Rap Music

New Hampshire Rep. Kyle Tasker is a fool!

He had an issue with the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council hosting the National Black Caucus of State Legislators in Dallas.

This is what happened:
On Wednesday, New Hampshire Rep. Kyle Tasker expressed his disbelief that the conservative American Legislative Exchange Council had hosted the National Black Caucus of State Legislators at ALEC's annual meeting in Dallas this week.

"How do I join the white caucus of state legislators?" Tasker asked, in response to a post by Jordan Ulery, a fellow Republican in New Hampshire's state house.

"Caucuses are merely groups of people with similar likes/dislikes," Ulery helpfully explained in response to Tasker. "Personally I long for the day of character, not color being again the guiding principle."

"Yea that was kind of my point," Tasker replied. "So what are the likes/dislikes of the black caucus that precludes white people from joining? I'm fond of rap music..."

Tasker then posted a link to a music video for "Country Grammar," a Nelly song.
Umm, how did this idiot get into office? Seriously, voters who just vote without thinking should be arrested. And this Kyle Tasker, tarred and feathered for his stupidity.

The effort to repeal Gay Marriage in New Hampshire Failed

Ha Ha, NOM! The New Hampshire House said "Bitch, Please" on a bill to repeal gay marriage in the state.

The House voted 211-116 after 2 solid hours of listening to silly arguments. Most of the folks knew this wouldn't pass. In fact, if it did, Gov. John Lynch would have vetoed it.

I bet NOM is pissed that they wasted more money just to lose. Congrats, NH! You sided with equality.

What? NOM supports Civil Unions?

In New Hampshire, NOM is supporting civil unions... Am I high of something, because this sounds fishy as a Malibu Barbie.

This is from their press release:
The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) today urged the New Hampshire legislature to pass HB 437, compromise legislation to restore civil unions for same-sex couples, and repeal same-sex marriage while protecting couples who have already been "married." The bill's author, Rep. David Bates, has said he will offer an amendment letting voters have the final say on the legislation through a statewide referendum vote.

"Gay billionaires like Tim Gill forced same-sex marriage on the state in 2009 without voters having any say," said Brian Brown, NOM's president. "We urge the legislature to adopt this compromise bill and let the voters have the final say."
Interesting and stupid, NOM.

RuPaul is Courting New Hampshire Voters

The Diva of Divas is in New Hampshire spreading love and drama during the GOP campaign trail. Ru is letting folks know that he's not Ron Paul and other things:
RuPaul explained to POLITICO: "I'm going to N.H. on a mission to spread love and set the record straight: contrary to recent reports, I am NOT Ron Paul. And I am not running for president of the United States. I hope to meet Ron Paul in person so we can be seen together to put the rumors to rest once and for all. And to remind Mr. Paul and all the Republican presidential candidates ‘if you can't love yourself, how in the hell are you going to love somebody else. Can I get an ‘Amen?’"

RuPaul described himself in a press release as “not a political person by nature,” but added, “any time a man leaves the house in a wig and a pair of cha cha heels, he's making a political statement.  Let us not forget that this great nation was founded by a bunch of men wearing wigs.”

Rick Santorum called out on his Homophobia by N.H. Students

Rick needs to say out of colleges. Yesterday in New Hampshire, Rick got testy with students over his views about marriage equality.
A group of college students hosting Rick Santorum today closely questioned the socially conservative presidential candidate over his views on gay rights and ended the lively session by booing him as he left the stage.

Warning the students several times to keep their comments civil, Santorum openly debated audience members at a convention sponsored by New England College, in Henniker. Many in the audience disagreed with Santorum’s staunch opposition to marriage rights for homosexuals. They grew especially agitated when Santorum resorted to a common conservative argument of social conservatives -- equating gay marriage with polygamy.

WATCH: Highlights of an Interesting Rick Perry's Speech in New Hampshire

On Friday night, Rick gave a speech at the Manchester, N.H. But not just a regular speech, it was kind of weird. Here are some highlights from that speech

Interesting Quote: Rick Perry

"As conservatives we believe in the sanctity of life. We believe in the sanctity of traditional marriage. And I applaud those legislators in New Hampshire who are working to defend marriage as an institution between one man and one woman, realizing that children need to be raised in a loving home by a mother and a father."

Michele Bachmann's NH Staff is Ditching her

Bachmann is getting shafted by her staff. They are ditching her in high numbers:
The entire paid New Hampshire staff for Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann has resigned, in another blow to the Minnesota congresswoman's foundering campaign.

Jeff Chidester, Bachmann's former New Hampshire campaign director, confirmed the mass exodus. "The New Hampshire team has quit," he said. "We'll issue a joint statement as to our reasons why."

Chidester's confirmation, made via email and voice mail to National Journal and CBS, followed a confusing day in which Bachmann insisted that reports of the staff departures were untrue. But Chidester said he left last week and informed "people that are closest to Michele."

"I'm sorry the national team is confused," he said. "They shouldn't be."

One of the aides who quit, Caroline Gilger, Bachmann's southern state field director, is joining the rival campaign of Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, a total of four staffers have left: Chidester, Gilger, Tom Lukacz and Nicole Yurek. Uncertain was the future of staff member Matt LeDuc.
This doesn't look good for Bachmann.

NH lawmakers Face the Gay Marriage Repeal

Big drama in New Hampshire. Today, House Judiciary Committee will take up 2 bills that could repeal gay marriage. It is expected that hundreds of folks will attend the hearing.

Here's more:

The sponsor of one bill, House Republican Leader D.J. Bettencourt, has said he will ask the committee to hold the bills until next year so lawmakers can focus on fiscal issues. But the sponsor of the second bill believes it would be better to vote on the issue this year.

Democratic Gov. John Lynch has said he will veto a repeal bill if it reaches his desk. Republicans hold supermajorities in both the House and Senate which would be enough to override a veto if the GOP caucus was united in repealing gay marriage.
I hope the bills fail.

Interesting Quote: Joseph McQuaid

"We are for marriage remaining the important man-woman institution it has always been.
While the law sanctions gay marriage, it neither demands that churches perform them or that our First Amendment right to choose what we print be suspended. In accordance with that right, we continue our longstanding policy of printing letters to the editor from New Hampshire citizens, whether or not they agree with us."

His reason why they won't publish a wedding announcement for Greg Gould and Aurelio Tine in the Manchester Union Leader.

SMACKDOWN! New Hampshire House rejects gay marriage ban

The New Hampshire House smacked down a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage!

CACR 28 defined marriage in this state by saying it can only be between a man and a woman.

It was rejected by a wide margin, 201-135, short of a simple majority and far below the three-fifths majority -- 238 votes -- it needed to advance to the Senate.

Sponsors tried to delay a vote on the bill until March 17, so local voters could weigh in on petitions at town meeting that ask for a popular vote on the amendment.

"All we're trying to do here is put this on the ballot," Rep. David Bates, R-Windham, arguing voters should have their say.

Whatever, David. Sit it down and shut it up.

Gays to get Hitched in New Hampshire

Today, gays and lesbians can & will marry in the NH. It is all official today and many couples will really bring in the new year with their love ones.

New Hampshire officials began issuing marriage licenses to gay couples on October 3. As of Wednesday, 29 lesbian and 11 gay couples had secured marriage licenses, which expire after 90 days.

Stephen Wurtz, acting director of the state's Division of Vital Records, told On Top Magazine that the state does not impose a waiting period for a marriage license, predicting the number of same-sex weddings on the law's first day would not be possible.

In an email, Wurtz said the state has recognized 809 gay couples in the past 24 months since a civil unions law went into effect. In its first month, January 2008, 174 gay couples tied the knot, but since then the number has steadily decreased, with only 6 civil union licenses issued so far in December.

Couples joined with a civil union can apply for a conversion to marriage or a new marriage license, but all civil unions will automatically convert to marriages on January 1, 2011. The state will no longer issue civil union licenses after December 31, 2009.

Happy New Year!

They are Coming for New Hampshire!

Just when you thought it was safe, the haters are at it again. This time they are gunning for New Hampshire!
Two proposals are being drafted in the N.H. House: One would repeal the law Gov. John Lynch signed in June and re-establish civil unions; the other is a constitutional amendment that would charge voters with deciding if "the state shall only recognize the union of one man and one woman as marriage."

Supporters of same-sex marriage are strategizing and gearing up for a fight, said Rep. Jim Splaine, D-Portsmouth, who sponsored the gay marriage law. He said momentum doesn't rest with gay-marriage foes.

"The momentum is on our side and those of us who support equality and love over hate," he said Wednesday.

Folks, let's get ready. This mess has to stop!
