Today is the 40th Anniversary of the Cathy Lee Crobsy version of Wonder Woman

Many fans give this film/pilot a hard time, but I actually appreciate it. It gave us a different, yet interesting perspective on Diana and her adventures in "Man's World".

I really enjoyed the tension between her and the rogue amazon, Ahnjayla. I wish there were more time with Ahnjayla and her agenda. I thought she was a fascinating character.

The pilot was released on this date with mediocre reviews. Later, ABC revamped the entire premise of the original idea. The studio set the series in the 40s and gave the role to Lynda Carter.

However, this version isn't dismissed in some abyss. It's now a cult classic and often talked about among fans all over the world. Sometimes, I wonder what would happened if this version continued as a regular series.

 Cathy talks about being Wonder Woman:

"I would have thought they would have gone with a brunette,but then I realized that the original movie was actually jointly owned by Warner Bros. and ABC. From what I understand, Warner Bros. wanted to do it more James Bond and ABC wanted to do it more comic book. So I guess it went halfway down the middle, because in a lot of ways this Wonder Woman was more like a female James Bond.

For me it was an interesting opportunity and an amazing character. I think she was capable and she had all of these great tools. She kind of had fun with the whole thing; she could do whatever she needed to do and was completely what you would think of as a superhero. She tried to right wrongs, and who wouldn't love to be able to do that? And then when you're in trouble, you call upon your bracelets or your lasso to pull you through. I loved that concept, and the fact that her enemies would try to stop her in every way that she could and he was able to meet the challenge. I think that's a great image to represent."

Why I Support the 1974 Wonder Woman movie

The 1974 version of Wonder Woman was not pretty. She was blonde, she didn't have a lasso, an invisible jet and that costume, Lord that costume.

But when you break down the story, it's not that bad. In fact, the film captured Diana's character to a T. Diana is supposed to be the best of the Amazons. How she handles any incident or situation should showcase her skills and intelligence. I thought the movie captured that well.

We saw this version of Diana as a confident and assured person, who was very quick on her feet and wise beyond her years. I wonder if she was portrayed by Lynda Carter or another raven-haired beauty would folks be so against the film.

For what it was, the film did a great job giving us Diana. It wasn't too campy and her role spot on. I appreciated their attempt to bring WW to the screen.

Classic Ad: ABC's Wonder Woman 1974

Will a CW Wonder Woman/Arrow crossover be a Good Thing?

Yesterday, I read this piece about a possible Wonder Woman/Arrow crossover at CW.
Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti kicked it off by saying both shows could definitely co-exist.

He said:

"Absolutely! If there's room for a thousand reality shows, hopefully there's room for a thousand shows like this. My hope is we're successful enough that we're all on the air together; that'd be great."

Okay... But, my hairs stood up when I saw this part from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg:

"With Wonder Woman, Diana of Themyscira, there are superpowers. I don't foresee crossovers, but one of the great things about superheroes is that they're constantly being reimagined. There's the Adam West and Christopher Nolan versions of Batman, and one doesn't obviate the other. The Lynda Carter version was great, and now the CW is hopefully developing another wonderful version that will be a nice complement to Arrow."

Another wonderful version... I cringed because earlier, they didn't want anyone with superpowers to be in the series.

Will Diana be powerless? And if so, why? She is a mythical being, blessed by the Gods. Should she be powerless to fit the show? I hope not. Diana could make an appearance in the series, but she has to have her powers.

Now, they could go the Cathy Lee Crosby route, but I hope they give some 'Wonder' to Diana.

The Hidden Wonder Woman movie

As some of us await Diana's return to the screen. We could go way back and look at the hidden "treasure" from the 70s.

In 1974, before Lynda Carter took the role of Wonder Woman, there was a WW movie with Cathy Lee Crosby as the Amazing Amazon. The movie was way off from what we know, but it kept some basic pieces like the bracelets, Paradise Island, and a lasso (in a belt). However, the movie is a cult classic and I have a scene that I enjoy watching from time to time.

Love the cheap lines and short battle, but Angela could have been a great enemy.
