Interesting Quote: Roland Emmerich

“Danny is a very straight-acting kid. They can relate more strongly to him and through Danny’s eyes they’ll experience the more extreme situations depicted in the film. We had a lot of discussions about the sexual scenes and how far we should go or not go, and it was always very interesting.”
How Roland describes his White Knight character, Danny from Stonewall

Who is the "they" that can relate to him because he's so white and straight-acting.
Oh, the straight white audience he doesn't want to offend by telling a true story about the LGBT struggle.
I was thinking of seeing this because I wanted to judge for myself, but this self-indulgent quote about a straight-acting boy being more acceptable makes me want to tell Emmerich to kiss my ass.
