Interesting Quote: Bret Easton Ellis

"Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game."
Bret basically thinks Matt's too gay to be dominate.

BEE is an idiot and a homophobe and, well, a terrible writer.

And nobody knows what titillates a heterosexual lady more than Bret Easton Ellis ...

My kneejerk reaction to this statement was to call him on homophobia.

But then I thought about it and now I wonder: is this any different from casting Brad Pitt or Clooney or some other "heartthrob" because of their ability to draw in women, rather than their acting ability?

The fact is, Bomer might not be the best choice if the goal is to draw in women by capitalizing on their fantasy of being with the actor.
