Wonder Woman makes her 'Smallville' Debut

If CW's Smallville TV series kept going, we might have seen Diana in her satin tights. Well, in comic continuation, the Amazing Amazon makes her first appearance.

MTV Geek has the scoop:
Miller reveals August’s Smallville Season 11 #16 will see the debut of Wonder Woman in the world established by the long-running television series, although not by that name. Yet. Still, the writer assures, she is “Diana of Themyscira. Daughter of Queen Hippolyta. Amazon Princess.”

“Consistency and Diana don’t have a very good relationship with one another,” Miller says. There have been a host of different takes, reboots, re-brands, etc. of late. All have their merits and strengths! For Smallville, I’ve tried to mine and exploit the characteristics that, to me, embody the best of any interpretation of Wonder Woman. Strength. Intelligence. Nobility. And, most importantly, Love. But when we first meet Diana, she isn’t being called ‘Wonder Woman’ just yet. She’s got a very specific mission. There’s a very big reason that she left the island, which we’ll eventually cover. Does she have the bracelets? Oh, yes. Like you see on the cover. And pants, of course. Regarding the rest of her ‘traditional’ look — something tells me she might find her way to a lasso and some armor by the time all is said and done!”
Cool, I'm curious to see or better yet, read the story.

Is This a Smallville Spin-Off?

This is on IMDb. But is this real?
No official word yet, but if so, this could be interesting.

So Geeks Want to Know why We didn't see Tom Welling as Superman

The end of Smallville left many folks bitter. They were hoping to see Tom fly away in the super suit, but it didn't happen.

Now one of the executive producers, Brian Peterson sheds so light about it with THR

“What we wanted to do all along was show hints at where he was going because that is a whole different story that is yet to be told,” Peterson told THR. “It felt like it gave just enough without starting to tell a whole different story that is left for all the other media.’

Peterson, who penned Part 2 of the finale with Souders, noted that the series has always been about Clark becoming the hero from the famed mythos and that the adventures of Superman were stories that have been -- and will continue to be told -- via other avenues, including Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Man of Steel, set for next year. “[Showing Tom in the full suit] to me is just not super relevant and not what we were trying to do,” he said.

“We were actually thrilled that everybody came together and was on board with the shots that we specifically picked,” he added.

“We all wanted it to be the end of Clark Kent’s journey because it’s a show about Clark Kent,” he said. “In the days when we saw him in a flannel shirt, the suit was the furthest thing from his mind.
Okay, I get it. But how about y'all... Did you want to see him as Superman?

Interesting Quote: Michael Rosenbaum

“I’m delighted to return for the series finale. I’m simply doing it for all of the fans out there who made Smallville the great success it is. I appreciate all of their passion, their relentlessness, and even their threats. Ha ha. I can’t wait to hug the old crew back in Vancouver one last time and see all of my old friends once again. Oh, and for Lex to become the bad-ass he’s destined to be.”
He's baaaack!

Question of the Day: Smallville

What do you think of Clark's costume?

It looks like a Prada riding jacket Micheal Lucas would wear.

Isis on Smallville?

Really? Mighty Isis on Smallville?

Well, maybe not the Isis some of us grew up with. But another version?
This is what I found about the Egyptian Goddess' appearance on EW:

Question: You tell us that Erica Durance is playing Isis on Smallville and you don’t elaborate? WTH? —Steve

Ausiello: Do you still not understand how this works? Ausiello TV is where the seed gets planted, and Ask Ausiello is where we watch the flower grow. Put another way, Ausiello TV is the foreplay to Ask Ausiello’s full-on shag. So whaddaya say we get down to business? “It’s an inhabitation story,” explains exec producer Brian Peterson of the Lois-Isis connection. “Lois is actually going to be possessed by the spirit of Isis.” Was it good for you, Steve? BTW, quick clarification: Smallville‘s Isis isn’t the DC Comics character Isis. It’s the Egyptian goddess Isis with a nod to the DC Isis. Understand? Good, now explain it to me.

So, not the 70's TV show Isis, but the "nod" to the Isis from the 52 comic book series... Okay.

Question of the Day: Comic Book TV Series Edition

CW's Entertainment President, Dawn Ostroff said:
"We have started to talk about if there are other DC comic book adaptations. We haven't picked anything else up to develop yet, but we would like to see something on the air, so we're going to work on it."

They have tried before and failed miserably... Birds of Prey, anyone?

They also had other ideas like The Graysons and a some broke ass Aquaman show, but neither idea really left the drawing board.

So, my question is... What would be a GREAT replacement?

Interesting Quote: Tom Welling

That’s the funny thing. I’m really excited we have a season 10 – and I don’t want to jump to the sadness of it maybe being the last one. But we actually don’t know. We’ve lasted this long because the of the fans, who knows, if enough people watch this year ... eleven sounds pretty good too!

Tom on the fate of Smallville... My opinion, No on 11.

My ideas for a Smallville version of Wonder Woman

io9 asked, Where is a Wonder Woman Smallville?

I wondered about the same thing over the years. I mean, it worked in the 70s, and Superwomen: Xena and Buffy soared in the 90s.

Can this be done? Maybe.

However, Smallville is based from Clark's teen years in, Smallville. Diana was raised in Paradise Island or the proper name, Themyscira. She never left the island until she won the title of Wonder Woman.

So if this was made into a show, here are some ways (I think) to go about it.
Paradise: Make the story about Diana's teen adventures on the island. There could be many mysteries hidden there. Remember, Themyscira is in the Bermuda Triangle so there's bound to be something lingering about. Then, you have the Greek myths to play with, that could be fun. Also there could some stories about Queen Hippolyta's rule on the island. I can imagine many amazons not agreeing with the Queen or Hippi and her enemies that could threaten the island.

Diana, Year One: This series could be about Diana's first year in 'man's world'. We can see how her ancient/warrior upbringing conflict with the modern times of America. Also we can see her face her first big bad and her first heartbreak.
Those are some of my ideas for a WW show. I would be nice to see her in live action again.
