Black Pastors tell folks to Stay Home on Election Day

For silly and foolish reasons, some Black pastors are telling their flock to stay at home on election day.

Their reasons are based ignorance, pure and simple. Just plan ole ignorance and idiocy.

Salon.com report:
The pastors say their congregants are asking how a true Christian could back same-sex marriage, as President Barack Obama did in May. As for Republican Mitt Romney, the first Mormon nominee from a major party, congregants are questioning the theology of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its former ban on men of African descent in the priesthood.
....
“When President Obama made the public statement on gay marriage, I think it put a question in our minds as to what direction he’s taking the nation,” said the Rev. A.R. Bernard, founder of the predominantly African-American Christian Cultural Center in New York. Bernard, whose endorsement is much sought-after in New York and beyond, voted for Obama in 2008. He said he’s unsure how he’ll vote this year.
And on Romney:
Bernard is among the traditional Christians who voted for Obama in 2008 and are now undecided because of the president’s support for gay marriage. But Bernard is also troubled by Romney’s faith.

“To say you have a value for human life and exclude African-American human life, that’s problematic,” Bernard said, about the priesthood ban. “How can I judge the degree to which candidate Romney is going to allow his Mormonism to influence his policies? I don’t know. I can’t.

Look, this is some bullsh*t! To let a pastor dictate your vote is ridic. No one should let a man or some religious belief to override common sense. God don't pay bills, fix the economy or stop wars.

Folks need to wake up and stop listening to false prophets.

Louis Farrakhan Responds to Obama and Gay Marriage

Since everybody has something to say about Obama's support of gay marriage, I guess Farrakhan was next in line. Black Blue Dog reports
“Males coming to males with lust in their hearts as they should to a female. Now don’t you dare say Farrakhan was preaching hate, he was ‘homophobic,’” he said. ”Our job is not to be hateful of the people. It is to call people to sanity.”

Obama also mocks the Newsweek cover naming Obama “The first gay president.” Farrakhan then says “I never heard from Michelle,” claiming that Obama was being ridiculed by the liberal media and made into something that he is not. He then asks why politicians take an oath on the bible but then choose to disagree with its principles.
Oh Louis... Watch him talk about the issue

The Aftermath: 24 hours after Obama's Announcement

A lot has happen over the last 24 hours since President made his announcement; so I will try to hit the key stories.
  • Rush Limbaugh claims Obama declared a war on Marriage. Funny, this is coming from a man who has been married four times. Rush is practically a war criminal.

President Obama supports Gay Marriage, now the Fight Begins

President Obama supports gay marriage and now folks are excited, pissed, calling on God and prowling the streets for their bride or groom.

But this is only the beginning; if you thought it was heated before, get ready for the inferno. We need to be ready for everything. This not only ignited our base, but it really ignited the haters. So, believers, activists, bloggers and allies this is what we got to do:
  • Put our issues aside get behind this President.
  • Learn what your local OFA or LGBT organizations are doing. Join them or attend at least one of their rallies.
  • LGBT organizations, get you messaging together. Learn what the haters are saying and counter attack it.
  • GetEqual, start attacking our enemies! There are no excuses now.
  • GLAAD, continue to call out haters like Tony Perkins and Bryan Fischer.
  • Black Gay bloggers, start talking about politics and tone it down on Rihanna and Beyonce. It's known that our community know little about the presidency and more about Rihanna's wigs.
  •  If there are anti-gay rallies focusing on Obama's stance; get a group and protest against them.
  • Keep the gAyTM open, it should've never been closed in the first place.
  • Join other battles involving education cuts, women's issues, voter redistricting and immigration. We need those allies to help in our battle as well.
  • Help campaign against and vote out hateful and looney GOP folks from Congress.
  • And realize what's really at stake. We need Obama for another 4 years.

President Obama supports Gay Marriage - WATCH CLIP

From Yahoo News
In an interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts, the president described his thought process as an “evolution” that led him to this place, based on conversations with his own staff members, openly gay and lesbian service members, and conversations with his wife and own daughters.

"I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don't Ask Don't Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama told Roberts, in an interview to appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Thursday. Excerpts of the interview will air tonight on ABC’s “World News with Diane Sawyer.”

The president stressed that this is a personal position, and that he still supports the concept of states deciding the issue on their own. But he said he’s confident that more Americans will grow comfortable with gays and lesbians getting married, citing his own daughters’ comfort with the concept.

Well, what do yo think?
