Interesting Quote: Matt Smith

It's very sad for me leaving. It's a wrench. And I got one more episode to shoot but then it's over to someone else, whoever he or she may be...

Could Doctor Who be a woman?

Matt Smith is leaving Doctor Who at the end of 2013

Matt Smith has announced that he is leaving Doctor Who. He will regenerate into someone new in the 2013 Christmas special.

After four years, Matt will move on to other projects. However, he has nothing but love for the franchise.

Now, this will be a great time to introduce a woman or a person of color as the Doctor... Or both.

Interesting Quotes: Matt Smith

"I didn't go on the Internet, I didn't read any of the press, because you can't. I knew people were saying I was too young and stuff, but I just had faith in my own instincts and my own ability and kept pushing forward with that. It was a risk, of course, but thankfully people have been very positive. I really want to push the boundaries of this part into next year now."

The New Doctor Who is....

Matt Smith! Who is he? A fairly young actor and a bit weird looking.

Here's more from
BBC News

Matt Smith has been named as the actor who will take over from David Tennant in Doctor Who - making him the youngest actor to take on the role.

At 26, Smith is three years younger than Peter Davison when he signed up to play the fifth Doctor in 1981.

Smith will first appear on TV screens as the 11th Doctor in 2010.

He was cast over Christmas and will begin filming for the fifth series of Doctor Who in the summer. Tennant is filming four specials in 2009.

Smith was named as Tennant's replacement in Saturday's edition of Doctor Who Confidential on BBC One.

He said: "I've got this wonderful journey in front of me where I've got this six months to build this Time Lord - and that's such an exciting prospect."
