Is Joss Whedon bringing Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to Avengers 2?

In a recent interview, Joss said this about who will be in the Avengers 2:
I’ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book, a brother-sister act.
Don't believe me? Watch it here

Now, I'm curious. Who is he talking about? Could it be the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? Andrea and Andreas von Strucker? Or Jean-Paul and Jeanne-Marie Beaubier?

I guess we will find out

Joss Whedon said DC Comics blew him off about Wonder Woman

As many of you know, Joss Whedon wrote a Wonder woman script years ago. Sure there were some pieces that needed work, so he created a new outline, but guess what...

DC Comics blew him off!

In Deadline, Joss talks about this foolishness:
“It’s not easy. It’s not a simple trick. The Marvel properties with the exception of Batman, who has often been described as the Marvel character in the DC universe, are much easier to translate to a modern audience. Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern are so far above us and their powers are amorphous and that makes it 10 times harder.

Even when you’re doing a fight, it’s harder to write a fight for Thor than it is for Captain America because he’s that much stronger. I loved what I was doing on Wonder Woman. Clearly I was an excited party of one. I wrote the movie, I felt good about the characters, the structure needed work, I did another outline, they read it and were done. There wasn’t even a phone call.”
Really?

This is interesting because Joss could've opened the door for not only WW, but for their movie projects. It's no secret that DC Comics movie projects are hot messes (Green Lantern?). Joss' WW could have changed the game and gave them some direction for the DC Comics movies.

I know they have to be screaming in a pillow about this major f**k up.

What Joss Whedon thought about David E. Kelley's take on Wonder Woman

He was only speaking the truth:
I don’t think that was a match. I just don’t. I don’t think that he needs to write about superheroes. You need to need to write about superheroes to write about superheroes. If that’s not in your vernacular, you may bring something new and interesting to it, but at the end of the day, if you don’t have that burning desire to talk about these people who have these insane powers, then some other agenda is going to come forward and you might accidentally turn off the dark.
Totally agree

ABC Greenlights ‘S.H.I.E.L.D’ Marvel Pilot

Big Geek news! ABC wants Marvel and Joss! They have greelit the SHIELD pilot! Deadline has the scoop.
ABC has ordered a pilot for S.H.I.E.L.D, a live-action series from The Avengers writer-director Joss Whedon, Marvel TV and ABC Studios. The project is based on Marvel’s peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D (which stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate or Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division) found in both the Marvel comic book and feature film universes, including the blockbuster 2012 movie The Avengers, in which S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury, recruits Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, and Thor to stop Thor’s adoptive brother Loki from subjugating Earth.

S.H.I.E.L.D. will be written by Whedon and frequent collaborators, his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Joss Whedon also is set to direct the pilot, schedule permitting.
This is good for Joss and Marvel! So excited!

Joss Whedon's Open Letter to his fans

Dear Friends,

Well, it's been quite a weekend. Someday, long from now, I will even have an emotional reaction to it, like a person would. I can't wait! But before I become blinded by this "emotion" experience, there's a few things I'd like to say. Well, type.

People have told me that this matters, that my life is about to change. I am sure that is true. And change is good -- change is exciting. I think -- not to jinx it -- that I may finally be recognized at Comiccon. Imagine! Also, with my percentage of "the Avengers" gross, I can afford to buy... [gets call from agent. Weeps manfully. Resumes typing.] ...a fine meal. But REALLY fine, with truffles and s#!+. And I can get a studio to finance my dream project, the reboot of "Air Bud" that we all feel is so long overdue. (He could play Jai Alai! Think of the emotional ramifications of JAI ALAI!!!!)

What doesn't change is anything that matters. What doesn't change is that I've had the smartest, most loyal, most passionate, most articulate group of -- I'm not even gonna say fans. I'm going with "peeps" -- that any cult oddity such as my bad self could have dreamt of. When almost no one was watching, when people probably should have STOPPED watching, I've had three constants: my family and friends, my collaborators (often the same), and y'all. A lot of stories have come out about my "dark years", and how I'm "unrecognized"... I love these stories, because they make me seem super-important, but I have never felt the darkness (and I'm ALL about my darkness) that they described. Because I have so much. I have people, in my life, on this site, in places I've yet to discover, that always made me feel the truth of success: an artist and an audience communicating. Communicating to the point of collaborating. I've thought, "maybe I'm over; maybe I've said my piece". But never with fear. Never with rancor. Because of y'all. Because you knew me when. If you think topping a box office record compares with someone telling you your work helped them through a rough time, you're probably new here. (For the record, and despite my inhuman distance from the joy-joy of it: topping a box office record is super-dope. I'm an alien, not a robot.) So this is me, saying thank you. All of you. You've taken as much guff for loving my work as I have for over-writing it, and you deserve, in this our time of streaming into the main, to crow. To glow. To crow and go "I told you so", to those Joe Blows not in the know. (LAST time I hire Dr. Seuss to punch my posts up. Yeesh!) Point being, you deserve some honor, AND you deserves some FAQs answered. So please welcome my old friend and certainly not-on-my-payroll reporter/flunky, Rutherford D. Actualperson!

Interesting Quote: Joss Whedon

His advice on the stalled Justice League movie:
It’s enormously difficult to take very disparate characters and make them work. And DC has a harder time with it than Marvel because their characters are from a bygone era. Their characters were bigger than we were. They’ve amended that but Marvel really cracked the code in terms of ‘Oh, they’re just like us.’  A dose of that sort of veracity that Marvel really started with Iron Man, I think you need to use that as a base.
I agree with my boo.

Joss Whedon explains his vision for Wonder Woman

In 2003, Joss wrote his version of WW. We may never know how it would have played out, but one can dream.

Anywho, Joss recently explained his vision on who Diana is:
He told Rookie that his Diana was "a little bit like Angelina Jolie" (which he's been saying for a while). "She sort of traveled the world. She was very powerful and very naïve about people, and the fact that she was a goddess was how I eventually found my in to her humanity and vulnerability," he says. "She would look at us and the way we kill each other and the way we let people starve and the way the world is run and she'd just be like, None of this makes sense to me. I can’t cope with it, I can’t understand, people are insane."

"Ultimately her romance with Steve was about him getting her to see what it’s like not to be a goddess, what it’s like when you are weak, when you do have all these forces controlling you and there’s nothing you can do about it. That was the sort of central concept of the thing. Him teaching her humanity and her saying, okay, great, but we can still do better."
I still think he should get another shot.

Interesting Quote: Joss Whedon

I have actually wanted to do a book. I have one in mind. It's not on the front burner. You write enough lesbians and you start to realize: This is just a guy. This isn't feminism. This is Cinemax. I think it's time for a little equal opportunity. Besides, who doesn't love cock?
Joss talking about writing a gay male lead character.

We Will see 'The Cabin in The Woods'

Good news for horror and Joss Whedon fans. His scary movie will be distribute by MGM and finally, hopefully, the world see a high quality HORROR FILM!

Deadline explains the hold-up:
The delay has little to do with the quality of the film. It was once slated to be released by MGM on Oct. 23, 2009, but was pulled back because it was going to be converted to 3D. Then, everything froze at MGM because of the strangling debt load, and The Cabin in the Woods was among several pictures that languished. By the time the picture is released, Thor will have established Hemsworth's star value, which will certainly help a film that also stars Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.
We are not sure when it will come out, but I think it will be later this year. Oh, and the Norse God hottie Chris Hemsworth is in it.
