Walking Dead Showrunner Leaves
Great Hera! What is going on?
Word on the street is Frank Darabont has stepped down as showrunner.
TV Line has the story:
According to our sister site Deadline.com, the show’s creator/executive producer/director has decided to vacate his post on the critically acclaimed series, which is currently in production on its second season. The reason, per Deadline, is that “Darabont hails from the feature world and… never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series.” There’s talk Darabont may stay on in some capacity, perhaps as a consultant.Wow, more to come on this story.
Ironically, Darabont told the audience at last Friday’s Comic-Con panel, “We’ve got people coming to the [writer's] table going, ‘Wow, we love this and we want to be a part of it, and that’s a really cool thing.’”
AMC has yet to officially confirm Darabont’s departure.

I See Zombies... The Walking Dead is a Go!

AMC was smart!
The Walking Dead will be on the screen this fall!!
"The Walking Dead" will become AMC's fourth original series with a six-episode order. "Dead," based on Robert Kirkman's popular graphic novels, has been on the fact track ever since AMC acquired the rights to the books in August after a bidding war.
The project, written and directed by Frank Darabont, was ordered to pilot in January, followed by the early series pickup with the pilot still in the casting stages. "Dead" will begin production in June in Atlanta. The series is set to premiere in October 2010 during AMC's Fearfest, the network's annual marathon of thriller and horror films.
So Excited

The Walking Dead pilot has been picked up by AMC

This sounds good.
AMC has greenlighted the hit comic, The Walking Dead, as a pilot.
AMC is looking to extend its perfect development record with the pickup of two new drama pilots, "Walking Dead" and "The Killing." They mark the fourth and fifth pilots ordered by the basic cable network, with its first three, "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad and "Rubicon" all going to series. This is great. I know they will do it justice.
"Walking Dead" is based on Robert Kirkman's popular comic book. It chronicles the month and years following a zombie apocalypse. Frank Darabont is the project's writer, director and exec producer, with Anne Hurd and David Alpert also exec producing.

The Walking Dead? As a TV Series?

I'm excited and a tad bit worried, but mostly excited about this news.
My buddy, NG sent me this interesting piece of news.
One of my favorite comics, The Walking Dead, maybe the next big TV hit!
Variety reports:
AMC is venturing into zombie-drama territory with multi-hyphenate Frank Darabont.Cabler is close to finalizing one of the richest development deals ever with Darabont to write and direct a series adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel series "The Walking Dead," penned by Robert Kirkman. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion are also on board to exec produce.
Project is set among a group of zombie survivors of an apocalypse who are led by a police officer, Rick Grimes, in search of a safe place to live. Numerous editions of the "Walking Dead" graphic novels have been published since 2003.
Joel Stillerman, AMC's senior veep of programming, production and original content, said the project appealed to the cabler because of "the quality of the storytelling" in Kirkman's work. The series will stay faithful to the tone of the original novels, he said.
If it's done, put it on cable; either Showtime, HBO or BBC America. It has to be done right!
