Who Asked For This: A Remake of "Short Circuit"

The 80s are in danger of lazy Hollywood executives! Now, they are going after Johnny Five!

Deadline has the scoop:

Dimension Films has tapped Disney writers program alum Matt Lieberman to script its family film Short Circuit. Tim Hill (Alvin And The Chipmunks), already attached to direct, will work closely with Lieberman in re-imagining the 1980s John Badham film about a lab robot that is electrocuted and becomes intelligent. Details of the new version are being kept secret. David Foster, who produced the original, is producing with Ryan E. Heppe, John Hyde and Brian Manis.
Why? Hollywood, why? I guess they will get LMFAO to ruin El DeBarge's "Who's Johnny?"

Uggghhh....they'll be ruining Goonies and Ferris Beuhler soon too probably.

Vik, I never got the point of the song "Who's Johnny." Always seemed like it was a regular song and they just added "Who's Johnny" to make it correlate with the movie. Time for a little lyric search!
