"Did" The Right Thing

Joke of a mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, pleaded guilty today to charges resulting from a sex scandal and other foolishness.

The resignation won't take effect for 14 days, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said outside the courthouse.

Kilpatrick will go to jail on October 28, the day of his sentencing, and serve 120 days, she said.

The mayor pleaded guilty in Wayne County Circuit Court to two counts of obstruction of justice.

He will be under 5 years of probation and he can't run for office during that time. This fool will lose his pension and was fined $1 millon dollars.

It's sad really, he was in charge of a major city, had a chance to make a powerful change in Detroit's economy, people, and its spirit, but caught up in power and deceit. No one's perfect, but we all have a chance to be close to it. Kilpatrick ruined that chance, his mother's political power, and everything else in his stupidity.

I hope he can sleep at night after the mess he caused. His legacy is finished and the Kilpatrick name is tarnished...you can tell I have much love for him, right.

I grew up in the in and near the city of Detroit, Michigan and I understand many are relieved that he finally had the sense to resign and plead guilty. If the trial would have gone further he could have received a greater sentence. As it is, he lost his right to practice law, and will pay one million dollars as a fine plus the four years jail time. Of course, he will get less time for good behavior but still . . . what an embarrassing way to end your career.
