Silly Things I believed as a Child

My friend, Toddy English inspired me to post this from his blog.

So my childhood was crazy. I believed in too many things, but hey, I was a child.

So here we go:

• I believed if you crawled into a hole in tree, you could go to Wonderland.
• I believed that I had powers because the supermarket doors would open for me (not knowing they were automatic)
• I wanted to have demonic powers like Damien and Linda Blair.
• My Granny told me that "The Age of Aquarius" was written for me because I was born in February...and I believed that for years.
• I wanted to walk through a graveyard at midnight so I could see ghost and monsters.
• I thought Wonder Woman was news special and she was real.
• My cousins and I thought we could create our Clue Club.
• I had an adventure suit (a red jumpsuit with stripes on the side) that I wore at every adventure, which included climbing trees, exploring abandoned buildings and walking through ditches.
• I wanted to see Satan come to church. They always talked about him, I thought it would good for Satan to come in and explain who he is.
• I also thought I was half-white because of my light skin and green eyes (they turned hazel later)

Possible Wolverine Movie ideas?

To be honest, I don't care about Wolvie's past. It's long, crazy, complicated and a movie may never do it justice. And what was put together was a hot mess.

However, if I had a shot at this I would pose these ideas as possible storylines.

• I would have used the 1st Wolverine mini-series as a possible plot. The story was excellent and it showcased many sides of Logan. Also we could have been introduced to the Silver Samurai, Mariko, and Yukio.

• Madripoor would have been a great place to send Wolvie. This crime city is supposedly located in the Southeast Asian island port nations. It's divided between rich and glitzy Hightown and poor, crime-ridden Lowtown. A lot of things went down in that town and it would have a perfect setting for a movie. Wolvie could have crossed paths with the crimelord Nguyen Ngoc Coy and his famous niece, Karma. Viper, Tyger Tiger would be interesting folks and fun villains like Roughhouse and Bloodscream could have spiced up the flick.

• If they had to deal with Wolvie's past, the Omega Red origin (X-Men issue 4-7) would have been fun. Sabertooth was there so he would have a purpose. Also we would have some interesting characters like Matsu'o Tsurayaba, Baron von Strucker and his twins/Fernis, Maverick, Omega Red and the Hand. I think the Hand would have been neat to see.
  

My Bullet Point Wolvie Review

So the Wolverine movie...What do I say after that 2 hours of mashed up images?

I will review this movie in bullet points, pros and cons (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Pros

• The guys are HOT! Hugh, Ryan, Liev, Taylor, Daniel (in fact, Liev brought the sexy in his version of Sabertooth)
• Some of the action was good...just some.
• We saw Hugh's butt and he wore tight jeans a lot.

Cons

• The plot made no sense, it completely crapped on Wolverine's past.
• The 1st 30 minutes were a blur of storylines that just confused everyone.
• There were no mention of Wolvie's Asian past.
• Too many explosions.
  
• They took too many liberties with the characters. Gambit's powers and The Blob's powers were remixed and overhauled. Emma Frost's diamond shell is a secondary mutation. It was too much.
• Silver Fox and Emma Frost were sisters...WTF?
• They never talked about the Wolvie's healing factor.
• The fight scenes were predicable.
• Fox Studios made this mess.
• Sabertooth could have done more, he was boring, hot, but boring.

The movie was better than X-Men 3, but by an inch. The folks at Fox should stop and look at the mess they are making with Marvel Comics. I am so glad that Marvel Studios take back the mutants in 2012.

So the movie was bad, but you may to see it to believe it.

Sam Adams can't catch a Break

Sammy back in the news this week. Months back, Sam Adams said he didn't have relations with Beau Breedlove until he was 18.

Well, that may be a fib.

New phones reports show that Sam called Beau 33 times when he was 17, and the same phone report revealed that Sam made most of the calls to Beau a few weeks after they met. However the records don't show any calls Beau to Sam.

The outcome of the state Department of Justice investigation could come down to the word of Adams and Breedlove, both of whom acknowledge lying in the past about their relationship.

Breedlove, now 21, could become a problematic witness should Adams be charged. After saying he wanted to maintain his privacy, Breedlove gave a nationally televised interview, posed for a gay erotic magazine, signed autographs at an adult video store in Portland and served as a judge for a sexually explicit contest at a Portland doughnut shop.

Adams, 45, has tried to move past the controversy, working on high-profile deals such as Portland's Rose Quarter, the new Columbia River bridge and a proposed convention center hotel.

Meanwhile, the mayor's office has been distracted by the ongoing investigations by the state and the media.

The Oregonian and other news agencies flooded City Hall with records requests after Adams' admission Jan. 19. Officials have provided the newspaper access to hundreds of pages of spending records and a dozen archived boxes from Adams' years as a city commissioner.

The mayor's office also released a recording of an interview Willamette Week had with Adams four days before he admitted the truth about Breedlove. The recording shows Adams repeatedly lying and evading questions put to him by the newspaper.

Maybe Sam should just tell the truth...the finale doesn't look so good.

Two years ago, I voted for federal hate crimes legislation. Since casting that vote, a number of my constituents have made it very clear to me that they disagreed with this vote, and I have tried to weigh their arguments carefully. Some of the objections have been based on distortions of what this bill actually does. Other objections have reflected nothing more than animosity toward some of the groups who would be covered.

Some of my constituents ask why our federal laws should pick out some Americans for more protections than others. Some wonder why, in a culture that rejects violence against any human being, we should say that an attack on a black, or a woman, or a gay individual should be punished more severely than an attack on someone who happens to be a senior citizen, or a soldier, or a teacher. Others ask why some motives based on certain ideas should be punished by our criminal laws more aggressively than others.

This is coming from the only Black congressman who did not vote for the Hate Crimes bill. He's also running for Governor of Alabama...a place known for its history of hate crimes.

This Poll says That Churchfolk are Supporters of Torture

Interesting stuff...churchgoers are more likely to support torture of suspected terrorists, according to the Pew Research Center.

More than half of people who attend services at least once a week -- 54 percent -- said the use of torture against suspected terrorists is "often" or "sometimes" justified. Only 42 percent of people who "seldom or never" go to services agreed, according to the analysis released Wednesday by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life.

White evangelical Protestants were the religious group most likely to say torture is often or sometimes justified -- more than six in 10 supported it. People unaffiliated with any religious organization were least likely to back it. Only four in 10 of them did.

The president of the National Association of Evangelicals, Leith Anderson, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

So basically they are hypocrites, but it's not a surprise. These are the same folks that will try to beat demons and homosexuality out of people, sexually molest kids and steal money in the of God. Should we be that shocked of the survey's outcome?

Their notorious Dore Alley Street Fair will be put to test this summer. After an interesting website called, Zombietime (NSFW) surfaced and many complaints, the SF cops laid down the law.

Either the folks stop all sexual acts or the Dore Alley freak fest is DONE.

In an interesting turn of events, Perez actually did something cute. After NOM made their broke ass Miss California ad, Perez saw an opportunity.

They used his vlog in their ad without his permission. Well once Mario/Perez saw this mess, he did what he does best...attack. He had the ad removed from Youtube because of a copyright violation...cute.

An ad by the National Organization for Marriage using footage of Miss California and Miss USA judge Perez Hilton was removed from YouTube the same day it launched. An attempt to play the YouTube version of the ad generates only a message that the "video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Mario Lavandeira [a.k.a. gossip blogger Perez Hilton]."

Apparently there's no one in NOM's ad department to catch SUCH SIMPLE THINGS. Why are they so amateurish? Maggie, maybe you need to hire some real PR people instead of your best friend's son and the church usher.
