Hot Trailer for 'Check It' A Documentary that Follows a LGBT Gang in D.C.

Here's the premise

Victims of bullying and abuse, five LGBT friends between the ages of 14 and 22 decided to defend themselves. The members of Check It sport knives, brass knuckles, and mace in stylish Louis Vuitton bags in hopes of keeping themselves (and their gang family) safe. Now an investigative feature-length documentary (aptly titled Check It) further explores what might be the only all-LGBT gang in the United States, following the members' journey from a turbulent D.C. toward entrepreneurship.

More people are imprisoned each year for homosexuality in Cameroon than any other country in the world. Overcoming Adversities as a Gay Teen: One Generation at a Time - VIDEO

The Premise

After finding out I could choose any topic for my Senior Project, I decided on one that was closer to home: Overcoming Adversities as a Gay Teen. As a member of this ever growing community I planned to branch out to the gay community in order to hear the stories of gay youth. This documentary tells the story of ten gay males, ages ranging from 15-82. We find out how each of them overcame their adversities as a gay teen throughout each generation. Please enjoy.

Moose Mess' Fake-umentary Flops

'The Undefeated' was defeated! The premier opened up to a nearly empty room in the OC and another theaters didn't do well at all.

And to add more gasoline to the fire, the critics tore it up:

It's amateurishly bad: The Palin documentary "makes no pretense of being anything more than a full-length commercial endorsement of her character and accomplishments," says Robert Levin at The Atlantic. It's just too bad the director, conservative Stephen Bannon, isn't a better filmmaker. He beats every talking point to a pulp, "with earsplitting soundtrack flourishes, aggressive montage, and an overall state of high anxiety." The film's biggest problem isn't its "hagiographic leanings." It's the "simple fact that its director needs to go back to film school."
"Sarah Palin's The Undefeated: Bad propaganda, worse filmmaking"

And quite boring: "The first hour of The Undefeated, scrupulously attentive to Palin's rise through state politics, is pretty rough going, a turgid primer in Alaska's pipeline management and oil, gas and, yes, milk subsidies," says Richard Corliss at TIME. What could have been a compelling film about Palin's place in the political landscape, and the establishment's handling of her, is marred by Bannon's clumsy, yawn-inducing attempt at propaganda. The movie might lead "even the most ardent conservatives to emulate their idol's tenure as governor and walk out halfway through."

And very thin on new material: This film is little more than "a string of encomiums against a backdrop of frantically edited archival material," says Todd McCarthy at The Hollywood Reporter.

New Documentary Series 'FADE IN' addresses Homeless LGBT Youth

A new online documentary will focus on individual stories of homeless LGBT youth.

Here's a synopsis

Fade In is a webisodic documentary series featuring inspiring stories from homeless LGBTQ youth. These 3-5 minute clips are not only designed to bring awareness to the fact that 35-40% of runaway or homeless youth in New York identify as being LGBTQ, but also to provide and promote a positive light forward for teens struggling with their identities due to personal, social, and familial factors. Each segment will be based around a different virtue (e.g. beauty, acceptance, compassion, faith) and will feature up to three youths discussing an uplifting story that relates to said virtue. Through smiles and laughter, tears and heartbreak, these touching stories shine a light on the truths of those forced to live in darkness.

For My Wife is a documentary created by Charlene Strong.
She tragically lost her partner and was denied the right to be by her side at the hospital.

That incident inspired Charlene to fight for domestic partner rights and the rest became history, please watch:

Charlene has been invited to the White House for the Pride Reception next Tuesday. Her documentary will be playing on June 21 in Philly and June 24 in DC.

Geekasm!!! Joss Whedon is making a COMIC CON Documentary!

Joss Whedon and Morgan Spurlock (Super-Size Me director) will be making a doc on the SDCC affair.

Yes, they are going to Comic Con to capture the mad, mad world of geeks, comics and pure craziness!

Sources tell E! that Spurlock and Whedon are currently searching for three super geeks to follow around at this year's Comic-Con, and the three months leading up to the mega-geek convention. No more information has been revealed at this time.

Sounds exciting! I wish I could be one of the 3 geeks, but I don't my type geek would be welcomed. I'm a gay, fashionable, Louis Vuitton Don geek. Would that be good enough to work?

Two Spirits, a documentary directed by Lydia Nibley and produced by Say Yes Quickly Productions, received a standing ovation from a sell-out crowd of more than five hundred people at its world premiere on Saturday, November 21 at the Starz Denver Film Festival.

Members of the Two-Spirit Society of Denver performed honor songs before and after the screening to bless the film's work in the world and honor the memory of Fred Martinez. The film was followed by a panel discussion and reception hosted by the Matthew Shepard Foundation.

Fred Martinez was nádleehí—someone who possesses a balance of masculine and feminine traits—a special gift according to his traditional Navajo culture. But his determination to express his truest identity tragically cost him his life. At age sixteen, he was one of the youngest hate-crime victims in modern history when he was murdered in Cortez, Colorado.

Calling America out one issue at a time

Coming out next week is a interesting new documentary. It's called, Bigger, Stronger, Faster, and it's a look at America's love affair with steroids. The film kicks off with a montage of the mego stars of the 1980s, like Hulk Hogan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and others.

According to EW, Christopher Bell, the director of Bigger, Stronger, Faster, lets us know how much they meant to him as a kid. Of course, two of them have since admitted to using anabolic steroids — i.e., synthetic testosterone. This should interesting, given the issues with our sport stars. I wonder if this will kick off more docs that look closely at our culture. It's time to start owning up to the madness we call the land of free, home the brave.
