In Kentucky: GOP Controlled Senate pass an Anti-Gay Bill

Today, Kentucky senate debated to bring a RFRA to the Bluegrass state. After their discussion, the senate members approved Senate Bill 180 which is an Anti-gay bill. If passed, Senate Bill 180 will allow businesses to discriminate against LGBT people due to their religious beliefs.

This bill is garbage, basically. It will hurt economic development and nobody has the time to figure out if any business supports God, Witches or Zuul. This bill is going to the Democratic-controlled House. At least there it will go down in flames... I hope.

In Kentucky: Gov. Matt Bevin removes names of clerks from Marriage Licenses

Tea Party fave and Kentucky's curse Gov. Matt Bevin has allowed county clerks to remove their names from marriage licenses in order to protect their religious beliefs.

He has issued an executive order directing the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives to issue the revised marriage license forms to all county clerks. I guess in January this mess will begin.

Kim Davis loses ANOTHER Court Battle

Kim Davis keeps trying and keeps losing.

I've lost count, but she lost in another attempt to stop granting marriage licenses.

U.S. District Judge David Bunning refused to grant Davis an emergency stay that she requested for the preliminary injunction he issued last month, ordering her to resume issuing marriage licenses. Davis stopped issuing marriage licenses in June because of her religious opposition to the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage, prompting roughly a half-dozen local couples to sue her.

At a hearing Sept. 3 in Ashland, where Bunning sent Davis to jail for five days for contempt of court, the judge expanded his mandate to include all eligible couples in Rowan County, rather than just the couples who sued Davis.

Davis challenged Bunning's expanded order before the 6th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. Her lawyers argued that because most of the couples who sued received their licenses from one of Davis' deputies during her time in jail, she should not have to issue any more while the case is pending. The appeals court rejected her request a week ago because Davis failed to first ask Bunning to stay his order, as federal court rules require.

In a five-page order Wednesday, Bunning denied the stay motion that Davis subsequently filed with him. The judge said he had no intention of letting Davis grant marriage licenses to eligible couples who are plaintiffs in the case while denying licenses to others.

The couples tell her they're not leaving until they get their licenses. She has the nerve to say that they will be wait for a long time. This trashbox must be dealt with!

Kentucky Clerk still defies the Law as She refuses to give a Marriage License to a Gay Couple

County Clerk Kim Davis made the news because she refused to give a gay couple a marriage license. Although, the right to marry is the law in Kentucky, Kim still refused. She claimed her Christian duty was being violated or some bullsh*t.

Well, she tried to take her crappy excuse to court and they basically rained on her parade. A federal judge ruled that in despite of her religious feelings, she had to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning told Kim that she can praise God all day, everyday, but since she took an oath to be a clerk... She has to follow the law.

Yes, Kim was defeated realized that the law is on our side. But that didn't stop this heifer from acting out. Just today, Kim refused to issue a same-sex couple a marriage license. Kim's holding out because she filed an appeal to the judge's decision. I don't know if she understood the judge, but she has to follow the law. I guess she's thinking she doing the Lord's work.

Well, Kim, girl... You keep thinking that as you stand in the unemployment line for your beliefs.

In Kentucky: Gay High School Basketball Player not included in Team Pic

I saw this on OutSports and was disgusted.

High School Basketball player Dalton Maldonado is gay. It's not a secret and he's quite out and visible at Betsy Layne High School. However, his school hasn't been Team Dalton. In their yearbook, Dalton wasn't featured in the basketball team's pic.

In fact, he's not there at all. OutSports reports:

This is the latest slap in the face of Maldonado and the entire LGBT community by a high school administration that simply won't accept that one of its star athletes is gay and was harassed for his sexual orientation by an opposing basketball team last December. The school's yearbook has omitted its starting senior point guard from the senior boys basketball tribute page in the yearbook, a deeply insulting blow to an athlete who has contributed to his school.

Dalton responded to this mess on his FB page:

Then I had a person [affiliated] with the school tell me what they had learned about the school attempting to cover up the whole story. I recently saw my senior yearbook, I flipped right to the sports basketball page only to find my senior basketball picture missing...which devastated me.

Dalton has talked about the school's treatment towards him, which is not surprising. I just hope he will get the support he needs once he attends Uof L in the fall.

Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis said Monday that her Christian beliefs make it impossible for her to give marriage licenses

to gay men or lesbians seeking to marry a member of the same sex. Rather than face claims of discrimination, Davis said, her office in Morehead is refusing marriage licenses to all couples until further notice.

"We've not had any applicants yet, but we've had several calls," said Davis, 49, a Democrat who took office in January.

"It's hard, I will tell you that," Davis said. "What has happened is that five lawyers have imposed their personal view of what the definition of marriage should be on the rest of us. And I, as a Christian, have strong views, too. And I know I don't stand alone."

In Kentucky: Ark Creators want to sue the State for Discrimination

This Ark in Kentucky is really a huge mess.

The project's president Ken Ham is suing the state of Kentucky for... Wait for it... DISCRIMINATION!

This man and this Answers in Genesis (AiG) company, who openly discriminate against the LGBT community, wants to sue Kentucky? Yes, and here's why:

Ironically, it was the project's proprietor, Answers in Genesis, refusing to agree to hiring practices that wouldn't discriminate on the basis of religion that led Kentucky tourism officials to yank about $18 million worth of crucial tax incentives for Ark Encounter in December.

Answers in Genesis said in a statement Tuesday that the decision to reject its application for the tax incentives "violates federal and state law and amounts to unlawful viewpoint discrimination."

"Our organization spent many months attempting to reason with state officials so that this lawsuit would not be necessary," Answers in Genesis President Ken Ham said in the statement. "However, the state was so insistent on treating our religious entity as a second-class citizen that we were simply left with no alternative but to proceed to court. This is the latest example of increasing government hostility towards religion in America, and it's certainly among the most blatant."

So, it's really about using religion to discriminate against others. Also, he believes that religious freedom trumps all. This Ken Ham is truly messed up because he's rich, a bigot and has too much power. I hope this lawsuit crashes and burns.

SCOTUS takes no action on Gay Marriage Case in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee... Rejects Louisiana's case

SCOTUS decided not to act on the challenge to Louisiana's state ban, or look at the four other gay marriage ban cases in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee. However, they may act upon these cases later this week.

The decision not to hear the Louisiana case was not unexpected as gay rights advocates had sought to skip the regular judicial process by seeking Supreme Court review before the case had been decided by an appeals court. Gay rights advocates representing the Louisiana plaintiffs said in court papers there is a "pressing need" to resolve the issue once and for all.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, which has jurisdiction over the state of Louisiana, heard arguments in the case on Friday and has not yet ruled. The same court is also weighing challenges to bans in Texas and Mississippi.

In the Louisiana case, a federal district court judge upheld the state ban in September 2014.

If the court were to take up one or more of the gay marriage cases, it would then issue a ruling that would determine whether 14 remaining state bans will be struck down. Gay marriage is currently legal in 36 states. 

The court in October decided not to take up the issue, but a November ruling by a regional federal appeals court based in Cincinnati upheld gay marriage bans in four states.

Hopefully, something happens this week.

Gay Marriage Bans Upheld in Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan

Bad news on Marriage Equality.

A federal appeals court decides to uphold gay marriage bans in 4 states!

USA Today reports:

The ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit reversed district court rulings that had struck down gay marriage bans in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

More important, it gives Supreme Court justices an appellate ruling that runs counter to four others from the 4th, 7th, 9th and 10th circuits. Those rulings struck down same-sex marriage bans in Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, Idaho and Nevada and led to similar action in neighboring states.

The six cases before the three-judge panel involved not only whether gays and lesbians should be able to marry, but whether marriages performed elsewhere should be recognized, whether same-sex couples should be able to adopt children, and whether their names should be placed on partners' death certificates.

The Supreme Court refused to reconsider the Utah, Oklahoma, Virginia, Indiana and Wisconsin cases, at least in part because there was no conflict among the federal appeals courts. But Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told a Minneapolis audience that a ruling against same-sex marriage from the 6th Circuit panel would make Supreme Court consideration more urgent.

If SCOTUS takes on these cases, it could be the final blow to all of this crap and this dumb ass judges. I really hope these cases appear for the Supreme Court.

In Kentucky: Pastor Rapes Teen and threatens to use 'warlock powers' if He Told Anyone

A man who claims he can 'cure' gay people is facing charges he raped a teenage boy and threatened to kill him with his 'warlock powers' if he told.

Kentucky police have arrested Polly Ann Church of God youth pastor Rex Allen Murphy after the 16-year-old male came forward to say he was being sexually abused. The abuse allegedly happened at the church and at the suspect's home for a period of at least six months.

Colin Hatfield, the chief of Eubank police, has described the accusations as 'very graphic and to the point'.

'The victim stated that the suspect told him on numerous occasions that by brushing his skin or shaking his hand…he could tell his sins by the power he has. He comes from family of warlocks,' Hatfield told WKYT.

'He was very scared, because the suspect, in the victim’s eyes, had been threatening his life in the form of Wicca, witchcraft, black magic.'

Of course this would happen in Kentucky!

Kentucky Poll: Opposition to gay marriage is Dropping

Times are changing in Kentucky.

Seems like the opposition towards gay marriage is dropping, according to a new study:

Results from the latest Bluegrass Poll, released Tuesday, show 50 percent of registered voters in Kentucky oppose same-sex marriage, while 37 percent favor it and 12 percent remain unsure. 

That's a drop from the 55 percent who said they opposed gay marriage in February and a sharp decline from the 72 percent that voted in favor of a ban in 2004 — when the state constitution was amended to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

It's not much, but it is a change. Hopefully, the decline will continue.

U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn in Louisville concluded that the state's prohibition on same-sex couples being wed violates the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution by treating gay couples differently than straight couples.

Heyburn previously struck down Kentucky's ban on recognizing same-sex marriages from other states and countries, but he put the implementation of that ruling on hold. That decision did not deal with whether Kentucky would have to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Instead, Tuesday's ruling dealt directly with that question.

"Sometimes, by upholding equal rights for a few, courts necessarily must require others to forebear some prior conduct or restrain some personal instinct," Heyburn wrote. "Here, that would not seem to be the case. Assuring equal protection for same-sex couples does not diminish the freedom of others to any degree."

Kentucky's Governor Plans to appeal Federal Judge's ruling in Same-Sex Marriage Case

Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear isn't thinking with a clean mind this morning. When the Kentucky AG said he will not appeal the judge's decision over legal recognition of same-sex couples from other states, this fool said he will.

In fact, Gov. Steve will waste tax payers' money to do so. He has no problem hiring outside attorneys to appeal the judge's decision. The foolish Governor posted a statement that made no real sense:

"Other Kentucky courts may reach different and conflicting decisions. Employers, health care providers, governmental agencies and others faced with changing rules need a clear and certain roadmap. Also, people may take action based on this decision only to be placed at a disadvantage should a higher court reverse the decision."

Whatever, Steve. This is silly and you can't what bound to be.
