Want to hear something funny and yet, sad?

Two cast members of "Duck Dynasty" have created a Duck Commander-themed Bible.

Yeah, really... a Duck Commander-themed Bible.

This Bible is called, The Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible. It will include a New King James version of the Bible, along with 30 testimonials and 125 inspirational notes from Phil Robertson, their anti-gay leader and patriarch of the Robertson family.

A statement from publisher Thomas Nelson says this Duck Commander-themed Bible will focus on the five main values of the Robertson family: faith, family, fellowship, forgiveness, and freedom. The 125 inspirational notes from Phil and Alan, who served as executive editors for the new book, will revolve around the aforementioned five values. The 30 testimonials from the father and son duo will include first-hand accounts of how Phil and Alan have seen themselves and others transformed by the Word of God.

Robert Sanford, vice president and associate publisher for Thomas Nelson's Bible Group, said that his publishing group is "honored and excited to be working with Phil and Al Robertson on this new Bible."

"The Robertson family's passion for the Word is infectious and the impact of their ministry is amazing. We see this Bible as being something people can grow with in their own personal walk with God."

The Duck Commander Faith and Family Bible is the most recent faith-related book released by the Roberson family. Korie Robertson, wife to Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson, previously collaborated with her mother, Chrys Howard, to release the book Faith Commander: Living Five Values from the Parables of Jesus. The book and DVD package is intended to be used as a Jesus-centered teaching curriculum for churches in the U.S.

Duck Dynasty hit New Lows in Ratings

Duck Dynasty continues to fall in ratings.

Their season debut was 3.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.5 million viewers. This week, they dropped to 2.9 rating and 6.65 million total viewers, according to Nielsen.

Very interesting.

Duck Dynasty Season 5 Premiere down from the previous Seasons

Well, this is something to ponder.

Once Duck Dynasty returned to TV, they found that many of their viewers didn't. EW reports that the season 5 premiere had 8.5 million viewers. That's big, but their last premier had 11.8 million viewers. And in their third season, the premiere had 8.6 million viewers.

Interesting to say the least. I wonder if the foolishness of Phil Robertson had something to do with it?

In LA Weekly, Henry Rollins shared his thoughts about Duck Dynasty. He wrote a pretty good post, but here's a piece I enjoyed:

A&E would be well advised to get while the getting's good and quadruple down on the show's popularity with a vast array of merchandise, like a DD limited-edition shotgun, camo covers for Bibles, strap-on beards, and at least one spinoff. You could call it ... Duck Dynasty. A&E should do this before the show's fans die of respiratory/circulatory complications, substance abuse or lung cancer.

On the flip side of things, one of you supremely talented graphic artists should start a comic book series starring the Duck dudes as homosexual bears. Talk about crossover potential. The thing writes itself. At the next major gay pride event, there should be hard-bodied men in camo hot pants, ridiculous beards pasted to their chins, blowing through duck calls. Dick Dynasty is a gay porn series just waiting to happen.

Just remember: When you see the DD men all decked out in their camo gear, they look pretty bitchin' and rugged -- but keep in mind that they wear these garments to help them hide from ducks. It's a comedy show, right?

Duck Dynasty is a ridiculous show and long may it wave. America and democracy will endure. They've seen a lot worse.

GLAAD releases a statement over A&E's foolishness:

"Phil Robertson should look African American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists. If dialogue with Phil is not part of next steps then A+E has chosen profits over African American and gay people – especially its employees and viewers."

A&E Caves and brings Phil Robertson back to Duck Dynasty

They caved.

Here's their statement:

As a global media content company, A+E Networks' core values are centered around creativity, inclusion and mutual respect. We believe it is a privilege for our brands to be invited into people’s home and we operate with a strong sense of integrity and deep commitment to these principals.

That is why we reacted so quickly and strongly to a recent interview with Phil Robertson. While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the “coarse language” he used and the mis-interpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article. He also made it clear he would “never incite or encourage hate.” We at A+E Networks expressed our disappointment with his statements in the article, and reiterate that they are not views we hold.

But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man's views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family… a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.
So after discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family.

Log Cabin Republicans wants to 'Raise a Glass' with Duck Dynasty Family

When you thought the Duck Dynasty mess couldn't get any crazier, the Log Cabin Republicans add their 2 cents.

The Executive Director Gregory T. Angelo released this statement on how to deal with this controversy:

“Let’s put an end to all of the fussing and feuding and talk about this like adults. Phil, you have your views and we have ours, but I think you’d be surprised how much we all have in common, and there’s no better gay folk out there to make that case than Log Cabin Republicans. We’re conservative, we’re guided by our faith, and we believe in freedom of speech. Most important, we are all children of God; that’s the most important thing we have in common. So in the spirit of the season, let’s get together — your family and ours — raise a glass, and work this out.”
