Surely it was difficult for men of that generation. I became active in the '70s and it was still difficult.
The '80s as well. The '90s proved interesting. The new millenia and can one say "mainstream"? In theory, perhaps... But it looks hopeful for the coming generations, more so than I would have ever dreamed of back in the '70s.
